An 85 for ND's defense? Cute.
There are all types of things to question about the rankings.
1) ND's defense an 85 like you said, but also their offense is a 90? They have a better offense than us after losing 2 of their 3 best offensive players (both 2nd rounders IIRC) and changing coaches? Coaching change = learning curve. New QB = learning curve. They don't have a 90 offense this year even with Floyd.
2) Indiana's offense is an 87? Yeah we had a close game last year.... but does anybody legitimately think Indiana has a borderline-upper-tier offense?
3) Our Defense is an 86? Not to be a downer, but with the personnel losses from last year (BG, Warren, Brown) even if there's a bit of improvement across the board I dont see how we're higher than around an 80. To put it in perspective, Iowa is an 89.
4) Speaking of Iowa, their offense led by pick-six Stanzi the Americanzi is rated higher than their defense. No questions here, just a statement that should speak for itself.
5) PSU has a 94 offense with a new QB who hasnt looked remotely good at any point this spring. Royster is good, but he isn't 94 good by himself.
6) Finally, OSU offense rated higher than its defense. I get the absurdly high ratings for OSU because they're considered NC contenders this year, but really? OSU's offense hasnt been better than its defense since 2006.
NCAA is always a fun game and I'll probably buy it just for the Denard amaizingness at QB, but there are 6 major rankings flaws I can easily see right off the bat when I'm only considering 13 total teams (and a few of those teams like Bowling Green and UMass I really have no idea, so they're making major mistakes about 50% of the time).
/end rant
But with our defense, I guess I just don't feel comfortable with criticizing anyone else's D, just my opinion. It's been hard to watch. We currently have no LB on our roster with the size and athleticism of Te'o, maybe Roh, but gun to my head, I'm not sure if I would take him over Te'o.
I don't think our offense and defense are that close at all...but i would take an 86 defense this year...
So just by team ratings, NCAA 11 sees us with 7-9 wins.
Seems to fit what most other people are saying.
With the demo, I put 63(63-0) on the board against OSU with Miami. #2 my ass.
I see you scored 3,969 points on the Bucks. Rather impressive, although I think it's fair to question how long you set the quarters to be.
5 minutes. It was only on Varsity level.
play on heisman son
2 min quarters.
How can you set the quarters to 5 minutes, when 2 min quarters are locked on the demo....?
I played them on All American and I had to throw the kitchen sink at them to win, seriously I had all kinds of trouble on D. I guess I'm not that good and have a huge learning curve to be able to compete in that game.
If you run 4 Verticals on every play you can score at will. How fun is that though, really?
OSU's offense is rated higher than their defense?
A 94 for PSU's offense with Newsome at the helm is a bit ambitious.
Same thought here. Where is PSU going to get this offense that everybody seems to think they will have without a big question mark at QB?
All I know is that I can't wait to play with a no huddle spread offense system. On the demo they only have spread systems -- NCAA does offer a no huddle spread where the team looks to the sideline for the play...a la the maize and blue. Can't wait. Unfortunately due to my birthday, I am going to ask for it then so it'll leave me a couple weeks late from the release date...
Wow, how Alabama's defense with two returning starters has a 99 rating and North Carolina's defense with four potential top fifteen picks has a 95 rating is beyond me. They love the Tide.
Go BG! Wahoo! 66 overall!
ITT: people pretend the ratings reflect the actual team ratings instead of marketing towards the large football markets to better sell a product.
