Rumor-ish: Izzo tells players he's gone
I'm on the edge already.
Not completely sure on credibility of the source. Found the story on Twitter.
Ha... Sorry. Cut me a little slack, I'm at work and had to throw it up quick before break ended. Ok I guess when I'm on this site it's always "break".
A Cavs fan told me it's usually pretty reliable.
Damn cant get to the link.
But I heard this on the radio also. Credibility....?
I could possibly see him leaving if offered, but I don't understand why the Cavs would want to offer him the position. College coaches very rarely make a successful transition to the pros.
Supposedly Lebron told Dan Gilbert that Izzo is one of the guys he'd like as a coach if he was to stay. While Gilbert might be calling the shots, I believe Lebron has an influence. After all the value of the Cavs did rise $100+ million after Lebron arrived so it'd be wise financially to maybe keep an ear open when he says something.
Yes. I think it is in fact a fair assertion that Lebron has an "influence."
"While Izzo could always change his mind, we are comfortable reporting that he has in fact informed his players at Michigan State that he will be taking the Cavaliers job. "
Nice out they left themselves just in case he really didnt say anything lol.
"will wait until the end of the week so his kids can finish school"
Riiiight...just trying to be the first to "break" a story.
Brian Ellerbe should be at the top of MSU's list.
per espn bottom line, he is not going unless lebron stays
Say it ain't so Izzo! Think of the couches!
Queme los sofas!
EDIT:
family member woks in the MSU athletic dept..i'll posy if i get any news.
Izzo is or Izzo ain't???
Izzo is or Izzy ain't my baby?
The way you're actin' lately makes me doubt
Yous is still my baby-baby
Seems my flame in your heart's done gone out...
goodmanonfox: Michigan State source told FOXSports.com that the Tom Izzo report by WFNY that he's taking the Cavs job is "absolutely untrue."
goodmanonfox: Just spoke to another person extremely close with Tom Izzo and re-affirmed this report by WFNY is "not true".
goodmanonfox: Sources told FOXSports.com Michigan State coach Tom Izzo did speak to players - yesterday - about topic. Izzo has NOT made decision yet.
Where have I heard this before?
Oh right, Brian Kelly.
I won't believe any reports until Cleveland has a coach.
I didn't say he was staying, just that it doesn't seem he's told his players he's gone yet.
My comment was more general than anything; it happened to fit more directly below yours than anywhere else.
:)
"Leave Tom Izzo, alone!"
or not if you want to help us out some. KTHNX.
What did Turd Ferguson have to say about things?
I will plug a laptop in to my tv and just watch tRCMB burn. they are SO confident that Izzo will never leave and that they can keep him working there for little more than a Happy Meal and a wish. while $3 million/year is obviously more than that, they act like he should feel honored to even work at their school and that alone will keep him there forever.
RUN TOM RUN
I could care less if he comes to us and fails, I also am so completely done with this Lebron bullshit that I don't care if he leaves either. Izzo leaving east lansing is good, I don't care what happens, it would be hilarious. As far as Lebron, if he signs for 3 years then I know that I have to put up with this bullshit sideshow for 3 more years, and I don't think I have it in me. I honestly don't, between Lebron, Rod, and Demar Dorsey, the amount of speculation I've had to deal with is probably developing into some sort of large ulcer as we speak. I don't care who he is, no player should have this sort of a stranglehold on an organization. My favorite Cavs player of all time isn't even Lebron, it's Mark Price.
Will definitely be using the below link if this goes through. Please please please be true.
Then he should take the deal in the NBA. He'll eventually regret ever leaving EL, but he'll have a lot more coin in the bank.
Bo Schembechler could have moved more than once to either the NFL or to Texas A&M, and he could have vastly increased his salary in doing so regardless of where he went. I think it's accurate to say he never regretted his decision to stay.
"Tom Izzo meets with Michigan State team; AD says no timetable for decision"
While I doubt he actually will take this deal, it's nice that this is simultaneously occuring with the Dorsey incident, so that those dipshits in EL are dealing with their own schadenfreude and not devouring on ours.
Granted it is unfortunate the Dorsey stuff had to happen and I am greatly saddened this had to occur, but with all the shit we as Michigan fans get from other fans on top of the events already occuring in front of our eyes, it's nice when we can just deal with it in peace...
the "coach X has already told his players he's leaving" rumor fails 99% of the time. the one time I remember it being true was when brian kelly actually told his cincinnati players and the entire media was waiting outside the room to pounce on the news. that was after we endured 3 or 4 other brian kelly rumors that were almost exactly the same
i've been checking cartracker.com all day and have seen no outbound vehicles headed to cleveland that could be izzo
"My favorite Cavs player of all time isn't even Lebron, it's Mark Price."
My gawd, this is the single greatest line possible to end that post. A whole box of Kudos to you, sir.
In the wake of everything that has happened lately, this news better be real. I'm not in the mood for reporters messing with news like this.
