Supreme Court 7-2 strikes down law bannign sports gambling. Congress will decide new laws and if they choose not to, then states can set their own laws.

Agreed.
If gambling becomes like any other transaction, Joe could in theory discharge his gambling debts by filing Chapter 11 if it got out of hand.
Try telling Vito over at the sports bar that you aren't paying him because of Chapter 11, and see how that works.
Vito operates off of a line of credit idea. Institutions would require cash before taking the bet. Chapter 11 would apply to Joe's mortgage, car payment, etc.
Once one of Vito's credit lines reaches an amount Vito is not comfortable with, Vito takes Joe's knees, not Joe's house or car.
anything resembling eleven warrior's?
Like lottery tickets.
Gotta figure out who is calling the plays first.
And always take Northwestern to cover at home. Somehow, they play like a Top 10 team when they are in Evanston and that little stadium.
people could go broke before the game even finishes.
Why hasn’t society learned this lesson yet? Prohibition, Drug laws... If there is a will, there is a way. Laws to restrict only empower the criminal aspect.
Cause there's more people involved than just you.
I wouldn't bet on it
Just what sports needs is more huge money pouring in with strong desire to influence outcome :(
Could this create a new line of "input' to the conferences due to the quality (or lack) of officiating. Like the calls are so bad that Delany gets pressure or threats from the people who lost a lot of money due to the shitty calls? I'm thinking yes...
Will it make the officiating worse... or better?
more expensive
I expect the states to makes it legal so they can get more tax revenue.
Now, I can drive to downtown Detroit, instead of flying to Vegas for the first day of March Madness.
I look forward to the firewall at work going away, so I may fully indulge my unproductive habit.
Use chrome? Just get SetupVPN from the Chrome store.
I will probably still play weekly with my bookie, but I look forward to the casinos and sports book here in detroit.

One thing I havent come across yet is if this will provide general public business opportunities? Obviously the casinos are going to pick this up real quick and roll with it, I did see that bets will need to be placed at "brick and mortar" establishments until mobile wagering is developed and ok'd for launch.
So for the people not close to casinos or willing to bet online, could one place a bet at their local BWW? Dave and Busters? Any sports bar? Will places be created in the burbs so I dont have to drive to Battle Creek or Detroit to make a bet?
I tend to place sports bets on a majority days of the week. I definitely don't live close enough to a casino to be driving to one every day in terms of placing daily wagers down on inidividual match-ups (obviously for futures I'll go to a casino with a sportsbook if it's close), so I forsee myself stilling using my favorite offsite bookie sites like 5dimes and bovada. But how quick will the legalization implement US online sports gambling sites?
Kenny Rogers wrote the concurring opinion, I hear.
I can think of something else that should be legalized.
reminded me of one of Ron's best quotes:
why should vegas have all the fun?
Selling a kidney?
So what percentage of casinos do we expact to have Sportsbook rooms?
If old ladies have the right to piss their SS away on riverboat slot machines, then younger people should have the right to piss their 401Ks away on whether Michigan beats the spread against WMU and SMU.
I prefer to piss my kidney stones away no matter how bad it hurts!
For me it’s about $20 a week until Thanksgiving, then it goes up to $100. As soon as Ohio makes it legal, I’ll be betting on OSU straight up and enjoy the result one way or another.
If you're betting exactly how much money you value an OSU loss, then every result is neutral and you get no enjoyment at all.
Christie for POTUS!!!
