Joe Milton maturing in '4-way tie' battle at quarterback (The Michigan Insider)
"I think right now, after spring ball… I think it’s like a 4-way tie," Milton said. "I don’t know if anybody’s leading right now. Because like, I don’t want to hype myself up over nobody else, but I think it’s a tie right now."Adding:"It’s a 4-way tie. Competition’s going to be strong in the fall. So, just gotta fight for it."
AHHHHHHHHHHHH
of the Notre Dame game. Which was surely partially built in before his eligibility became 100% sure.
Sure, you never know, but I'd place my bet on the Top 25 NFL draft prospect.
I love swagger. I love kids believing in themselves. Joe is confident in what he brings to the position and I think that is cool. But if any real and true reporter who has credibility echos what Joe is claiming "That it is really and truly a 4 way tie for starting QB" we are EFFED.
Shea Patterson will be our starting QB. Period. End of Story.
And if it was I'd agree with you. Joe Milton cannot go from HS under 50% passer to starting at M in the same year. No one can make that leap so soon unless things are desperate around here. Shea will start.
Wolverine1987, you made the point I was trying to much clearer. Joe Milton is an athletic freak, but no way he is "tied" for the staring role...heck, there is no way he is in the ballpark of being second string.
His highlight tape (all one can really go on) was so raw (cut laiden with freakish ability) that he is gonna have to make incredible leaps and bounds to even start by his Junior year. Is that possible...sure. Is that probable...no.
The underestimation being shown toward Dylan McCaffrey may end up being a motivating factor for him.
McCaffrey and Milton were tied for third you may be wrong. McCaffrey still needs to add weight because 199 lbs at 6'5" is still rail thin for getting blindsided by a DE or blitzing LBer.
McCaffrey weighs 210.
Is it truly a 4-way tie, or did Pep just tell all the QBs that you have to look at it that way?
It's cockiness without throwing shade on your teammates.
he had a good spring and has the confidence that he is right there to be the starter. But, I would be really suprised if he was really in the mix at this point.
He is a heck of an athlete with a great arm, but he is really raw and has a ton to learn about the college game and even playing the QB position at this level. I think he really needs a full year to work on mechanics and learning the offense and getting up to the speed of college football.
Would not be a bit suprised though if he is in the running to start in 2019. He has a high ceiling.
Right. It's a 4-way tie according to Joe Milton. Which, I like that Joe Milton is saying that--good for him to have that confidence in himself. However, there is a difference between Joe Milton saying the QB race is a 4-way tie and Jim Harbaugh saying the QB race is a 4-way tie.
Exactly. It's like Harbaugh saying that Bredeson was pushing Newsome.
There is a difference between Joe Milton saying there is a 4 way tie, Jim Harbaugh saying there is a 4 way tie and actually playing QB's against ND. 2 of those things could happen
I like Milton's enthusiasm. fight for the starting gig. Go Blue!
A mountain named McCaffrey McNamara is in his way.
Comparing him to Uncle Rico. BINGO!!!! You get the gold star.
Joe Milton says he can throw 85 yards. But the most he has ever been seen throwing is 70 yards.
Has there ever been a QB that threw 85 yards? Do you know of one? Seriously. I have heard of 80 yards, a QB in the 80's named Marc Wilson with the Raiders. It was said he could throw 80, though I never saw him do it on tv. I've never heard of 85. Those 15 yards beyond 70 would be very hard to get.
Can it be found on the internet?
I saw Andrew Luck on video throw one 73 yards. I think that's an insane distance.
Threw it from the 25, looked like it would have landed on the 2
...and in no way is it reality.
Shea Patterson will start, barring injury. If there is an injury, it will be one of the other two QBs who is not a true freshman.
There is zero chance a very talented, but raw, freshman QB is going to start on the road, in a night game, against ND unless something has gone very, very, very, very wrong.
Nice way to put it. It puts things into perspective.
Nice way to put it. It puts things into perspective.
I don't see a four way QB tie involving a true freshman to be exactly great news.
It wouldn't be Michigan if that was the case, no?
I dont look too much into his completetion percentage most of his throws are bombs. high school recievers would have a hard time catching a pass from an arm like his. if he works on his touch during certain situations he will be special
Never did I say he was anywhere near ready to start. He has arguable the most upside out of all the QBs on the roster just based on his arm strength alone, thats something you can teach. You can however teach is mechanical issues which is why he will RS. Him and McCaffrey both have a chance to be special. I dont see that it factor in peters.
I think McCaffrey has the most upside of all QBs on the roster.
wrong.
