Buckle Up?
Matty D just sent out his "verbal" commitment bat signal on twitter.
another crystal ball just came in for him - maybe he is ready to pull the trugger now
Pretty sure he committed to MSU the other day
No, that was LB Marcel Lewis. Barnhart is still on the table and crystal ball is heavily leaning towards Michigan
Yeah, I just went back to see who I was thinking of and I was wrong but I was thinking of Berghorst
You're probably thinking of Adam Berghorst. Committed to MSU yesterday.
That makes me think it will be Velazquez doing the same for us..
Oops, yeah, that's who I was thinking of. I don't pay super close attention to recruiting and got two in-state guys with B last names mixed up. My bad, everyone. Thanks.
Ace just crystal balled him to Michigan
Is the Ohio Safety recruit that is also the OSU baseball commit. He has gotten crystal balls from Ace, Bill Greene, and Allen Trieu in the last two days to Michigan.
Some have equated him to Khaleke Hudson, which I do not believe is even a remotely similar comparison. He looks like a good high school athlete with moves, a desire to compete, and some speed. I think this is the safety/RB version of Vic Viramontes.
Nowhere near the insane athleticism of Hudson.
Sounds like a player who is a step or two or three below what Michigan should be recruiting if they want to win national championships tbh.
^Sounds like a troll.
I forget, how good of a baseball recruit is the kid? Either way, screwing over a different OSU team would be gravy enough if he does ever commit to us.
on a report from yesterday by 247's Bill Greene saying he could decide soon, but it wasn't based on info tied directly to this commit watch, FWIW. Can't really say more than that.
Teacher, Ace knows something and he's not telling!!!
Isn't Ace the teacher in this instance? Or at least the T.A.?
I don't know. Is Finkel Einhorn?
Basically the guy in charge of the visits.
I saw "Matty D" and thought mattD, the basketball recruiting guy, which got me really excited for a second that maybe DJ Carton was going to commit.
There are a ton of blog boys out there these days.
Barnhart. Seemed ready to announce earlier in the month w Michigan a strong favorite, then stated he wasn't ready. Believe Michigan then visited him around 4/19 or 4/20.
3* per Rivals, #44 OT. Can't have too many offensive lineman in the fold...
Yes...never enough 3* lineman apparently.
yea...no.
yea . . . you suck.
He's being recruited as a guard/future center, not a tackle. With that in mind, Barnhart is pretty good for his position and will probably develop into a solid player by the time his name is called up to contribute.
We need players that can make a quick impact....not need time to develop and "probably" be a solid player. This is year 4, we need to win now and we need to recruit at the level of our competiton to win. We aren't doing that currently.
almost the entire 2018 class could red-shirt for us
I am sure some will play
but we have 14 players from the 2017 class that are now RS Freshman that can contribute plus we lost very little from last year
the only 2018 recruits that might play are Hutchinson, Sims, McGrone, Muhammed and maybe a RB
but given we red-shirted Anthony and Singleton we don't need McGrone to play and we have great depth at CB - we could recruit the entire 2018 class and be just fine
What position do these impact Freshman in 2019 need to play?
QB - Still needs to be proven, but based on recruiting rankings there is a pretty good pipeline set up with Patterson, Peters, McCaffery, Milton.
RB - There is no shortage of numbers, just need the older guys to graduate to see what the young guys can do.
WR - There is at least one more year of Black, DPJ, Collins & Martin.
TE - Again, pretty stocked to the point both freshman this year will RS.
OT - There are plenty of candidates, they are all young, but after this year, we will have a much better idea if any of them can play at the highest levels.
OG & C - There is a potential 2-3 year starter at Center (Ruiz) with a guy who played as a Freshman ready to back him up. Both gaurd spots are locked up (most likely for two more years) with a highly rated recruit (Filliaga) looking to find time.
DE - Most likely losing two very good players after this year but their backups will be getting valuable snaps this year and there is depth behind them already.
DT - A lot of young talent, but one (Solomon) has already proven himself.
LB & Viper - Michigan will be starting juniors in 2018 and have a whole class of RS Freshman getting good hype behind them.
CB - Would have to lose two early entries to have to start worrying about depth. A 4* freshman isn't even in the mix for PT this year.
S - After losing Kinnell this year and Mettelus next year, Michigan still has JKP, Woods, Hawkins and the incoming Freshman to fill two spots.
For the first time in a decade. the one thing I am finally not overly concerned with is depth to prevent true Freshman from needing to log significant playing time.
Yes, you have to keep the pipline flowing, but immediate impact freshman is probably not the mot significant need at this point. They are a luxury. Keep finding the guys who can come in and keep the pipeline going.
Good post, but you're responding to a troll.
freshman show up on special teams. There's a reason Ohio State's punt team was so god damn good. When you can throw Jeffrey Okudah, Shaun Wade out as gunners, and have all your other five star backups trashing people on the kickoff team, it makes a difference.
If I recall, there was a time when Drevno had a very young USC line performing at an above average level. That's where we need impact FR. And considering we play young OL, it would be nice to have a 5* rated one or two to throw there even if they are FR.
That's the signal.
If it's Valazquez, does it count as a head-to-head win over OSU?
If someone told me this would be the level of Jim Harbaugh's recruiting in years 3 and 4 when he was hired I would have laughed in their face. Compare that with what Urban is doing in Columbus and it's very depressing.
saw two teams full of 4 and 5 star talent make it to the title game. Finding a hidden gem or two is good, but it's nearly impossible to compete nationally without an elite roster.
How many 5-stars did Harbaugh pull in at Stanford?
...It's a joke...
