Amazon All or Nothing Michigan discussion

Submitted by HAIL-YEA on

So I have been waiting for someone to post a discussion thread, and nothing has been posted yet unless I missed it. I know you all binge watched it, don't act like you didn't. So what did you  think, did you learn anything you didnt know?

I thought it was great. Very well done, as bad as things went last year I expected this thing to be a terrible watch, I was wrong.

Some things I learned

1. Pep Hmilton was calling most of the plays? I figured he was more involved when Drevno came down from the booth but it seems like he was calling them.

2. Chase Winovich is friggin hilarious. He should be mic'd up every game

3.Wilton Speight did not come off great. Honestly I just don't think I would find him likable even if he was a good qb.

4. Don Brown is even more likable then I thought. The guys personality is awesome. Rare combo of being a really nice guy, funny, and the best D coordinator in the country.

What do you guys think? I don't think they could have done a better job with this special, really a great watch.

Harbaugh being awkward probably has more to do with him knowing the cameras were always on him.

Yes Harbaugh is definitely quirky. But he really cares for his faith, family, football team, and Michigan. Don Brown is a dude. Gary plays with passion, and is still a "teenager". Pep's a smart guy. Karan and his daughter are great. No love for Kaleke? He was a beast in a few games. Larry P, JOK, and Newsome are inspirational. As bad as you think JOK is for calling Gentry and the OL out. I don't have a problem with either. If they both played less blasé. The season could have turned out a lot different. JOK interview after OSU shows a lot to me. Injuries are diifficult to watch but highlight the universities care. Surprised they didn't mention anything about Purdue's medical facilities and the fearfulness and outrage of the Speight family. It amazed me the complexity of the play calling they need to know. Hope they do a follow up next season. Go Blue!

Yes. Harbaugh May not have Don Browns Battle Cry but make no mistake about it...he is obsessed with football. He lives it and there is no one better for our program right here and now. Would it help to have a don brown type of guy on offense to do pregame speeches...maybe. But in the meantime...I have no doubt that Harbaugh will do what it takes to be the best. To win. Without sacrificing his moral compass that is.

I definitely noticed his car. His whole family also moved to Michigan after he enrolled. Maybe it's a family member's car, maybe his family really believes in his abilities and took out a loan for him to get a new Camaro. But yeah, if an OSU player had a brand new Camaro and his whole family relocated to the Columbus area from Florida, then I'm sure we'd draw some conclusions.

I've finished episode 5, and I agree with a lot that's already been said--

*Winovich is  hilarious.

*Don Brown is awesome

*Rashan and his mom are both stellar

*Pep is better than we thought.

*AND the QB situation was a wreck from the start, and I think JH and Pep both were aware how tenuous it was.  (it ticked me off to see JOK blame Gentry and the Oline for his failures)

*BP's future depends on whether he can develop better leadership skills.  I think he is a shy guy and none of that comes naturally.

Seeing the human side of all of this is well worth the watch, even if you have to fast-forward through the MSU game like I did.

Watching it now. I didn’t like Wilton much before, but he’s straight up unlikable after watching this.

I don’t know what was up with the shots of Wilton off the field being like MTV Laguna beach or something.

Could not disagree more. Speight came off fine. I don't understand the obsessive hate for Michigan's starting qbs. He was our best qb the last two years and was an injury against Iowa away from a Big Ten championship and a playoff appereance. Everyone acts like Speight never won a big game. Remember destroying the eventual Big Ten champs by 39?

They have in the past, however the've also decided to follow a different team the next year. Some of that depends on interest, storyline, and contract/negotiation terms. One thing going in our favor is that it's quite likely a lot of the big time programs that they might look at for a second year would be scared shitless to do this simply because of all the NCAA violations that might accidentally make it to film.

They did set up a really good storyline the whole year (we are young and need to find a good quarterback), that I could see turning in to a satisfying second season, especially the off season with Harbaugh flying down to visit Shea, the new weight room/staff, changes in motivation and lifting, that meeting where players gave their personal opinion, and of course Chase deciding to come back. Shea is also by all accounts a much better off field leader.

Honestly, Michigan should make sure it happens, whether that means giving more favorable terms (not giving up editing rights, just possibly free access instead of for a fee). If Amazon decides against it, Michigan always has the ability to film on their own, and put together a second season and could hand it off to Amazon either for final editing or just to have it. The on field stuff they might have to clear with the NCAA, but they didn't have a problem with Amazon doing it.

Don Brown: Let’s go Mike, Mr. Senior Bowl. Remember when I got here you were in the Toilet Bowl.

Mike McCray: I was?

Don Brown: Juuuust kidding.
