#MondayMotivation Michigan Players having fun
There are a lot of new faces in the coaching staff this offseason, but it seems the strength and conditioning staff is a hit so far. Work Hard, Play Hard.

This is why I roll my eyes whenever I look at a high school 'croot hudl page (or whatever profile) and see some claim about squatting 500 lbs. Ruiz is a mountain of a man and he ground out five tough reps with what looks to be 425. When high schoolers claim they squat a lot, either their form is garbage or they're just lying. Great video, thanks for sharing!

until we beat OSU and MSU.

we beat MSU in hockey, doesn't that count for a tiny bit of fun?

and gymnasics, and tennis, and softball, and wrestling, and swimming, and track, and soccer, and...
I'm getting out of breath.

In the past you've said I've brought tears to your eyes (in a good way) at Hill performing the Messiah, so here is your yearly update. April 21 in Hill Aud. with the Ann Arbor Symphony and UMS Choral Union , Verdi's Requiem.

My daughter and I went to the Messiah again a few months ago and it was incredible (tears, again). She bought the tickets as my Christmas gift and we've decided to make it a yearly tradition.
I haven't heard Verdi's Requiem live since Neeme Jarvi was still conducting the DSO and my daughter has never been, so this will be great!

He is such an athletic freak. A human being that big looks like he should not be able to move the way that he does. I am so glad that he is on our team.

That's Awesome. Glad to see the guys sticking together and getting work done.

Because of guys dancing and squatting? I can't believe that was the missing formula all these years. All Hail King Herbert!

Handling 405 on the squat. That is about perfect form too.
February 12th, 2018 at 12:56 PM ^
There is at least one more plate snuck in on each side. Looks like 25# plates. I would guess this is 455+, maybe a 5 snuck in there too.
An impressive weight for reps.

It was either a 10 or 25 lb plate on each side, and they were using a Duffalo Bar which is 55 lbs instead of the standard 45. So, it was 435 or 465 in total weight, and done with no belt and solid form.

I would look at that bar, and dance right by it. Wouldn't even touch it - no way I could even get it to budge. This is why I didn't play college football. I'm a weakling...

is that ruiz?

At about 41 seconds into the clip, after he finishes the lifts, he turns his back to the camera and you can see his name and number 51 on the back of his shirt.
His "dance partners" are Donovan Peoples-Jones (shirtless) and Rashan Gary, with James Hudson (55 on his shirt) watching them.
Later in the clip,(at around 55 seconds), you'll also get a clear view of "Bench" Mason (42 on his shorts) whom Jim Harbaugh claims is the strongest man on the team dancing up front with Ruiz, Gary and Peoples-Jones.
EDIT: Not sure I can identify all the others in the video, except I think that I spotted Chase Winovich (holding a water bottle and dancing at about 5 to 10 seconds), Michael Dwumfour, Noah Furbush, Michael Onwenu, Bryan Mone, Jon Runyan and Juwann Bushell-Beatty.

I did the same thing today at work and somehow managed just fine without posting a video for the whole world to see.
