Who are We??? A Question I've Always Wondered.
Its summer, there isn't a whopping amount going on, thought it would be a good time to ask this question that I've wondered about since I joined the MGoBlog community. Very simply, I've always wondered in a more general sense (not about anyone specifically) who all of you are (categorically speaking of course). Would appreciate any of you who choose to participate in this unscientific study, feel free to answer with one of the following categories that best describes you:
1) high school student
2) University of Michigan student
3) student at another University or college
4) Michigan alum
5) Non-alum Michigan fan
I know many of you relish your anonymity but again, just trying to figure out a little more about who comprises the MGoCommunity.
And for the sake of fair play - I'm a 4, Michigan alum of over a decade.
me - 4 ('05)
wife - 4 ('06)
father-in-law - OSU grad... ugh
at the family dinner table. Question, when the F.I.L. starts bragging about OSU beating Michigan 7 years in a row, do you start talking to him about how you had raunchy Michigan sex with his daughter last night?
me - '07 PhD
wife - '97 BS, '99 MS
F.I.L and basically the rest of the I.L's - OSU grads/fans (one or two are YSU alums so they LOVE them some sewatervest)
At least your wife has some sense, even though she grew up with an OSU influence.
Alum - '03
but I was born at UM hospital, so really, I've always been a Wolverine.
Alumnus, born at the Hospital as well. UM saved my life, so it's not hard to figure out where that devotion comes from.
Also born in the hospital. Parents born and raised in ann arbor but moved out of state when I was a kid. Couldn't afford out of state
i'm a 5; mom, sister, and 2 grandparents are 4's. and i don't really relish my anonymity - i'm a pretty open dude so i'm happy to answer questions like this
3rd gen 4
4.
First to attend / graduate college in my family.
which makes me a black sheep in the family of 4's
Non alum, but lifelong M fan, now living in East Lansing, Arrrg!
I am a 4, son of a 4, brother of a 4, brother in law of a 4, and hopefully a future father of a few 2's and 4's (hopefully not for a minute or two though)
The numbers are getting confusing....I am a converted Michigan fan (graduated from Mount Union College in Ohio). My wife got her PhD from Michigan and my two sons-in-law are U of M graduates.
I am originally from Ohio and most of my family are Buckeye fans - can't wait until we get the upperhand in football again...
Both my parents grew up in Ohio, so most of my relatives are Buckeye fans. Is very frustrating, especially during the last 6-7 years.
I guess you could call me a 1.5 since I've got a week left of high school and I'm headed to UM this fall. I graduate on June 3rd and my orientation for UM is June 7th, I'm not wasting any time.
Congratulations, you're going to love it!
And an engineer no less! w00t!
Since you're going to orientation soon, remember this website:
It will be your best friend when it comes time to schedule, because Wolverine Access is a nightmare for first-timers. Knowing about that site ahead of time will give you an advantage over your fellow freshman, and may even get you into a class about to close before they do. It will also be your best friend even after you've figured out Wolverine Access and you hate it for being just plain stupid.
Good luck and enjoy orientation!
Thanks to both of you! I am beyond excited to get the fall started with.
And thanks for the link, but..."MSchedule has been shut down because it no longer works with the data format provided by the University of Michigan. If you are interested in continuing to operate the service yourself please contact Kyle Mulka "
Just figure out your priorities and schedule around them. (ie don't really take Calc III at 8am MWF, put it on your schedule if you get locked out of a later one and plan on going to the later one anyway if they don't take attendence, etc etc). If you have your housing assignment try and plan around that too. The engineering peer advisors will help you if you can't get Wolverine Access to cooperate.
That's interesting...
It worked for me when I made my schedule for the fall. Deepest apologies then. Scheduling is going to suck now. *cries*
I've never been so jealous before in my life.
except my orientation is the ninth. What do you plan on majoring in?
Biomedical engingeering, but we will have to see how that goes. How 'bout you?
Do not miss the opportunity to work with Prof Noll and Prof. Kipke. They are couple of the best teachers in all of north campus.
Oh and I am a 4 from Electrical Engineering (Grad).
aerospace engineering, but i know some people who got biomedical degrees and they said it was awesome, so good luck.
I'm a 5, not smart enough to be a 4 myself, but smart enough to at least marry one.
Will be a 2 in the fall
Product of a long line of 5s. Myself and one of my cousins are the only ones to ever be twos (He's a 4 now, and I've got 2 years left before I join him).
4 and hope to be the progenitor of 2's
....I mean....4
...dead former President of the University.
4) BA in 2002 from the all encompassing LSA.
Let's see. Three uncles who varsity lettered at Michigan. One football, one track, and one swimming (three time nat'l champs!).
Two cousins that went to Michigan.
And now I'm currently a 2. LSA/Chemistry
3.14159 - Engineering
I have that burned in my memory, as well. #4, ChemE, class of 90'. Got to see Bo coach his final years and partied during the riot on Stadium street after winning the N.C. in basketball in 89'... Good times, good times....
Unfortunately, I never got to take a class with Fogler - wrong semesters or something.
All he did was recite the book
and most of the time, it was a T.A. reciting his book.....Thompson was cool. He played B-ball and golf with us....
Erdogan Gulari (best name ever) was always out of the country, but cool for taking us to Dominick's.
son of a 4 and a recent 4 c/o 2010, Honors English, myself
University of Colorado
Graduated Economics 2006.
Fuck, I wish I could turn back the hands of time so I can re-live just 1 month of college. I would savor every day of it.
