Harbaugh ranked #1 NFL HC candidate by 45 analysts

Submitted by SolidSmeef on

And so it begins.  I guess at least they put his face in the upper left of their front page picture, instead of directly in the middle.  So we got that going for us, which is nice.

1. Jim Harbaugh: 95 points

Current job: Michigan Wolverines head coach

NFL experience

Former 49ers head coach (2011-14) In Harbaugh's one NFL stop in San Francisco, he took over a 6-10 team and went 44-19 over the next four seasons -- which included a heartbreaking three-point loss in Super Bowl XLVII.

Before that, he inherited a 1-11 Stanford team and went 29-21 over four seasons.

Most recently, he inherited a 5-8 Michigan team and has gone 28-11 in the three seasons since.

I made a post in the comments section of the article detailing Nick Saban whining over the CFP scheduling. Called Saban a failed NFL coach and middling Big 10 coach that didn't start shining until he had a huge talent disparity and clever scheduling. The comment had 120 upvotes and then was promptly deleted by ESPN.

The media and the SEC has been all over him since he became coach? I’m not placing those expectations on him, honestly I’m in a lull with mine right now. Still believe he’s a great coach tho. Why did his every move in recruiting, sideline antics, offseason, etc get scrutinized at every turn on ESPN and several SEC coaches and talking heads? Don’t remember Dabo taking any shots at him or any PAC 12 coaches.

Just like RR left Hoke talent to have a good first season the bad RR wave crashed down on Hoke and fucking drowned him. Harbaugh had good players from Hoke's first few recruiting seasons in 2016 but now the bad Hoke wave is moving through from his last couple disastrous recruiting classes. I think Harbaugh will ride out this bad Hoke wave and he will get back on track with his stronger recruiting classes, may be not in 2018 but by 2019 Harbaugh will be ready to make the playoffs, especially if they are expanded by then.

I’m sick of hearing Harbaugh hate every day. Before dantonio won his 8 national titles he started 22-17 with a 1-2 bowl record and no B1G titles. Urban Meyer is the second best football coach of the last 15 years, the guy was made to coach ncaa football. It sucks that he’s Ohio States coach but that’s how it is. Harbaugh will beat these teams. Harbaugh will compete with these coaches.Get off his back.the problem is that we’ve had 4 coaches in eleven years. Let’s not make it 5. See you in the spring.

Mork was actually 22-16 after three seasons and started 0-4 in bowl games. Even after what I believe was a shared Big Ten title in year four they got completely embarrassed by Bama in a bowl game. Part of the issue is zero current MSU fans were actually fans before 2010 so they don’t remember any of this. The other issue is the Big Ten is a much tougher conference overall now than it was when Mork started so it is much harder to turn around a struggling program. Mork actually finished 6-7 in year 3 and had a pretty good year 4. Could it happen for Michigan? Maybe but I am not holding my breath. Edit: Mork also started 0-2 against OSU but then did not play them in 2009 or in 2010 when MSU won a share of the Big Ten. He beat them in 2011 when OSU had players suspended by the Big Ten who were of course eligible to play against Michigan later that same season. Delaney is such a joke.

I'm as disappointed as the anyone at how this season went-- BUT the fans calling for his head are ridiculous.  To go through yet another coaching change really would doom this program for the foreseeable future.  Change brings instability, iffy recruiting, players leaving etc. in almost all cases. (Exception: OSU and Urban Meyer, who came into a stocked roster of top players) And the last thing we need is to be known as the program that kills coaching careers.

Makes it easy to recruit negatively with the media saying he is going. But at some point recruits have to be enticed by a chance to play for the nfl's top coaching candidate?

I like that the NFL beat writers' staunch refusal to believe that it is possible for someone to leave the NFL and walk into a position with which they are perfectly content by all appearances has them now writing even more brazen clickbait. It's fun to watch them recycle material like this sometimes in their deep, unrelenting denial.

Do NFL coaches make as much as JH? Do they have his level of autonomy? Also having experienced the dipshit Jed York I doubt JH relishes dealing with an NFL owner anytime soon.
