Fisch was a good recruiter too. Now you have Mattison and Partridge as guys who can recruit. Frey, Drevno, Hamilton, Don Brown, and Zordich etc. are known more for their coaching.

Don Brown hasn't really been able to pull in too many 4 or 5 star guys but that's fine because his scheme is so good. Jim Harbaugh is a known commodity. I think that the Jay Harbaugh as a great recruiter is more of a talking point because he's young. Most of our best recruits since 2016 have been credited to Partridge, Wheatley, Fisch, and Mattison on 247.

I remember (in the late RR days) when many on the board would pine for Alabama's model, a team that was winning with a "traditional" offense. Two points on Alabama's model: (1) Saban emphasizes recruiting, and hires coaches who not only can coach but can flat out recruit. (The recent rumors that he was looking to poach Partridge make sense.) Even in Saban's recent hire of the past 24 hours, he mentions the hire's ability as a recruiter. On the offensive side of the ball, we seem to have some guys who are not plus recruiters and who do not have enough of a track record of success as coaches to overcome the recruiting limitations. (2) Saban has embraced tempo, no-huddle, and other modern advances that give an offense an advantage based on the current rules in college football. It would be nice if we would embrace these as well.

He has no rankings for football and we are his only offer. The other offers listed are for basketball.
Something doesn't seem quite right about this.

Wouldn't be surprised if this class anchors the 2021 team down like the 14/15 classes did for 2017.

Keith Washington, Rueben Jones, Shelton Johnson, Kingston Davis, and etc...
I mean, sure anyone who isn't a senior still technically has time to improve and contribute, but it is also fair to be concerned that by year 2 or 3 some of these guys have either transferred because they weren't good enough to see the field, or we have barely heard a peep about them in practice let alone games.

If Chase isn't coming, I would have no problem with Olave or Bell for the 1 WR spot.
This kid had a phenomenal SR year and is a late bloomer after focusing on basketball up until this point.

There are star wars and star whores. Yes, STARS do matter. The bigger the better. Some 3 star guys do great but many do not. 5 star guys can whiff. Michigan has seen plenty of that with some top rated guys. But, the OSUs and Alabamas of the world do not get to where they are by getting 3 star guys. They stock up on top rated guys. They have coaches that develop that talent. These are the things that Michigan has yet to do consistently.

a difference between 3 star guys because of how many there are. There are guys like Taylor Upshaw, who was committed to Florida and has SEC offers, and this guy who has a Tulsa offer and runs a very slow 40.

He doesn't have great size and isn't a burner so probably isn't a can't-miss NFL prospect, but from what I see he's got excellent body control, has the ability to make people miss in tight spaces, and doesn't go down on first contact.
