Don't think they just evaluated Bama and OSU in a vacuum here -- because I still think OSU had the better resume.
They were also definitely looking at which of these two teams was gonna give Clemson the better game. And it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to argue that OSU would have. Now, is that fair? I don't know. But as it's all about ratings and money, I think they'd like to have people watch for all four quarters and not tune out at halftime, which was the case last year.
Fair or not, Bama v. Clemson is a HELLUVA LOT more intriguing than OSU v. Clemson.

did have the better resume, but Bama is the better team. Did watching that game last night make you feel either of those teams is really top 4 in the nation. Wisconsin gave up a 50+ yard TD on a bubble screen--that's what I-AA teams do when they are outmatched. They looked completely out-athleted in that football game. And yet Ohio State kept them in the game because the reality is that they aren't that great on defense and are still too one-dimensional on offense. OSU 2014 beats Wisky 2017 by 35+. This OSU team just isn't good enough.
FWIW, I think the best team in the Big Ten this year is Penn State. A bad 4th quarter in Columbus and then a hangover in East Lansing after a rain delay. It happens.

I think the Committee was RELIEVED Wisconsin lost, to be honest. That was their "in" to opt for Bama. If Wiscy beat OSU, then Wiscy would have to go -- no discussion about it -- even though the Committee might have felt that there were better teams for the 4-spot.
And I can't argue about Bama being the better team compared to OSU, based on what I said above. I think Clemson-Bama is gonna be a good one, while Clemson-OSU could very well have gone like last year's matchup did.

I was more happy to be wrong when I picked Michigan to lose to Kansas in the Sweet 16 in my bracket.
And then this happened:

Kirk Herbstreit just said that the committee is not into appeasing agendas.
I thought that's exactly what they were doing sometimes. Weird. Maybe it's just me being paranoid.

Are we off to San Diego now?

I think so, and I would have rather played in Tampa on New Year's Day.
Was this selection worth the LOLs? I can't really decide.

OSU should thank the selection committee for sparing them an ass whipping on national TV.

When I looked at some comments on 11W not that long ago, most Buckeye fans actually agree with you.
They want the prestige of being chosen, but they secretly did not really want to get picked.
They could not handle another beat down that they knew was coming after watching how much they struggled against an un-athletic Wisconsin.

Problem is, looks like we're gonna have to play on December 28th istead of January 1 unless something crazy happens. That sucks. Also Bama is in, which sucks, I hope they die.
But still...
Jim Delany and OSU....

in determining BIG post-season fortunes.
While I doubt we'd have gotten in last year with just the loss to OSU on our resume, losing to Iowa made that a certainty. And OSU getting slobberknocked at Kinnick effectively deep-sixed any hope the Buckeyes had this year.

SEC teams are both lower seeds. Who has to go face them in the Sugar Bowl? Weird locations this year based on how the seedings panned out, since higher seed is supposed to get the advantage.
