The Gators will now be without 10 players for Saturday’s opener, but that number could rise. A source tells Spectrum Sports more players will be suspended in the future due to their involvement in the ongoing UFPD investigation.
UPDATE: As the police investigations continue, a source tells me more suspensions are to come for the #Gators https://t.co/aO3gZKsIPz

Well I guess the major question is, how good are these Costco samosas going to be? I'm going to cook them in the skillet with a little coconut oil.
Edit: Coconut oil was definitely a good move. I would thaw them in the microwave first a bit so once they get crispy the center isn't cold. Definitely better than Ulizio on the scale of things.

could you imagin if this was harbaugh? he would have been roasted and you would have had this shoved down your throat for a month straight.

It was a huge story when it happened.
Backstory: The player started making throat slashing gestures and drew an unsportsmanlike conduct flag. The player is Fred Taylor's son(longtime Jacksonville Jags RB). Fred came out with a statement of support for Mac that basically said while he may have overreacted, it was a selfish move by his son. It calmed things down.
I'm not a McElwain fan, but he has no other history of that like Brian Kelly or Muschamp. I don't think a college coach should ever berate a player unless they bring that attention on themselves. Similar to Harbaugh getting picked up on a hot mic against MD screaming at Kalis "to get his shit together" after drawing a stupid personal foul. There was no backlash, and I've never seen him do it for anything performance based.

Interesting how the backstory changes the whole narrative. Reading that, I think McElwain's the good guy there. Reminds me of watching a Duke player score a touchdown - an easy one - and hotdog his way into the end zone. Taunting the chasing opponents, the fans, everything. By the time he turned around to make his way back to the bench, his position coach was already all the way down the sidelines with the volume all the way up, and let him hear it all the way back to the bench. Lot of respect for that coach.

Living in Korea, I was planning to get up at 4:30 a.m. for this game. Now I'm tempted to sleep in like I plan to the weeks of Cincinnati and Air Force...

CORRECT. I'm cutting a weekend trip to the mountains short in order to catch kickoff at 12:30 AM here in Islamabad.

I am moving to a similar part of the world and am looking at my options for watching, do you mind if i pick you mind on them?

Just start a where/how to watch thread, those usually go over well around these parts.

It's a good question. Best answer is pretty much always to find someone with Armed Forces Network. The big legit streaming sites have figured out a way to know if you're on VPN so using WatchESPN, Hulu, YoutubeTV, etc., are not possible. (Incidentally this is also true for Amazon Prime and Netflix, to my enormous irritation.)
None of the people I know with AFN are in town or available this weekend, which leads to my next point: If you're not an American diplomat, make friends with a few who like college football a lot. I'm not and I haven't, and that is a drag at the moment. The British Club here has AFN but it closes at 3 so I'd risk missing the end of the game. That and the bar at the US embassy are options for noon games. The latter requires a buddy willing to stay and watch and there's something unnerving about the place.
So, although I'd happily pay through the nose for a legit way to watch, that is not an option. I'm using stream2watch to watch Maryland try to hold off Texas at the moment and will switch over once the time comes. Stream's been very solid so far. Not HD most of the time but that's okay.

I think Penn State would beg to differ. They protected who they perceived as their own to the bitter end (with some trustees still beating the "JoePa was innocent" drum).
Credit to Florida for seemingly putting the principles of the school ahead of their desired outcome of football games. I don't even hate the Gators, since they seem like a decent academic school - especially by (non-Vandy) SEC standards. But this makes me respect the school a bit more.

Jordan Scarlett was their clear top guy. That's a big loss. He was their 2nd best player on offense.

but does this apply to pass play blocking?
It could be that the 2nd string RB is almost as good on run plays.
But the obvious game plan for UF is to test M's young DBs. If the second string RB is not a very good blocker/blitz pickup guy, that could be worth 2 extra QB sacks for M, plus a number of additional QB hurries.

out of the backfield too, apparently. A wide receiver and a serious RB who can block and catch the ball--that is real. But still, it's just two starters that are out. You can probably find a pile of projected contributors we're without, too.

lately--something glitching on the mgoblog side, or is it me?

This. Callaway is the only real big loss right now imo as Perine isnt much of a dropoff from Scarlett. It has left us with no depth at LB and O line however and any injury to those positions could spell a disaster.
August 31st, 2017 at 7:52 AM ^
Have to assume it was Perrine who turned in Scarlett. Best way to win the position if you're a Gator.
