OT: Unpopular opinions and guilty pleasures, Music edition.
From past music topics on the blog, it's clear the mgocommunity has good taste in music. Now I want to talk about your not too popular opinions on music. Guilty pleasures edition, and those artists you like but bury in your playlists and don't necessarily make public. I'll start.
I like earlier Radiohead when they embraced melody and traditional song construction more than current Radiohead.
I love the first Boston album.
I dismiss Journey except when any of several songs pop up.
Come on Eileen is awesome.
Have at it.

Saw chance at Bonnaroo this year and he definitely got mixed reviews on his show. I thought the show was amazing overall, but a lot of people hated the brief periods where he got a little preachy. I'm not religious in any way, but I didn't let that part of his show ruin it for me. I have a lot of respect for him.

Never really liked country and didn't pay much attention to Johnny Cash until seeing Walk the Line. Something struck me and now I like to play his songs off Spotify. Like al the greats, he could do a lot with a little. He didn't need a huge band, effects, etc to fill up the sound. This is coming from somebody who grew up on AC/DC, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, etc.

I took my kids and drove with a mini-caravan of SUV's loaded with their friends. I was the only dad. The other drivers were these really fit surburban moms...
65000 screaming tweener girls at the stadium. It was a noise you had to hear to believe. Fans are super-nice though, so well-behaved.
Gettin' fit for the next guy in their lives.
Twice
Earth, Wind, and Fire is great!
I always have to sing along with September, great song!

I don't care for music. Doesn't bother me when it's on but I don't listen to it unless someone else plays something. Haven't bought a CD since ~1995.
I put it in the other thread, but I think Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" is way overrated.
Also, I used to think the Beach Boys were terrible because when I was growing up they had a song in a Sunkist commercial and then their big hit was "Kokomo." Much, much, later I heard some of their other music and realized how good they were.
I'll admit I like City and Colour on this blog but wouldn't to my friends.

Arcade Fire are over-rated
Arcade Fire has that NPR-listener hype. I don't think they're that popular in real life, are they?

While I think that RUSH is probably the greatest band of all time, I'll always understand when someone says they can't get past Geddy's voice. It makes me sad though, that so many people are missing out on such an amazing collection of talent.

I have a mixture of feelings when Don't Stop Believin' starts playing, embarrassment for everyone singing it and nausea.

How, exactly, is Roth over Hagar controversial?
Police wasn't a power trio. Now Robin Trower on the other hand...

For some reason I didn't dig hair metal at all when I was in college, and now Hair Nation is one of my favorite Sirius stations.

Did not know there was Yacht Rock station on Sirius. Thanks for that - will add to presets on the way home.
