Last night Maizen made a valient effort to overtake Mr Yost's spot atop Mout Negmore. Some of you may remember Yost's epic negbanging from a while back so I wanted to compare the two flameouts. (Sorry Yoster, couldn't resist).

Alas, he came up short but it wasn't for a lack of effort. Aint no one catching Yost.
I probably should not say this as a moderator, but posts like this make me smile sometimes because whereas some may take this as a teachable moment, others would see such a thing and use it as a chance to flame out in a rather amusing fashion.

In the words of the user 'corundum' in the Mr. Yost version of this post (Funny how he's the first comment here), "One of the most informed posters on the site didn't present his tidbits with a decorative pink bow on top."
It was about 5 months ago but in his defense I do remember him not being nearly as aggressive. He had a shitty take on something and was going to die on that hill, standoffish as he would seem. I even remember not feeling bad for him afterwards because he seemed so intent to die on hiss hill.
He did not dispute it, but he was mad that Umbig11 could just swoop in and and drop that tidbit without any kind of hardcore evedence to back it up . . . and everybody instantly bought it.
I think he was jealous.
I don't think he knew the level of insider that Umbig11 was.

I am trying to read through the thread linked since it was during my hiatus. So UMBig said Speight was a starter and Mr Yost pooh poohed the presentation somehow? I cannot really discern on the thread linked other than UMBig didn't do it in a manner Mr. Yost wanted - and I can't really tell what that manner is even with the explanations.
I don't understand what this even means from Mr. Yost:
I thought the Speight news (which was not doubted) should've been presented in a different manner. Didn't like how something so breaking wasn't presenting in more of a "data giving" manner versus something that could be misconstrued as opinion or a troll post (which we see here far too often)

In the linked thread there is a non-link but working html address a couple of posts in that you can use to access the original thread. The only thing missing from the thread is Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
Edit: On second thought, I just did it myself. Here is the link to the thread that contains Mr. Yost's Chernobyl moment. The thread linked in the OP is Fugitive's invaluable statistical analysis of that thread.
It was a jealousy thing.
Yost liked to present himself as something of a program insider, and he didn't like that Umbig11 was able to have instant credibility in breaking big news like Speight being named starter without more concrete evidence to back it up.
He didn't know that Umbig11 was a big insider and not just some guy on the internet with an opinion.

What really frosted him was that everybody believed Umbig11's "opinion" right away despite Umbig11 not backing it up with anything concrete. For some reason we all knew that Umbig11 was deeply wired into the program and Yost didn't.
We didn't need any data or evidence . . . if Umbig11 said it, we knew it was because he heard it directly from the source.
Upon further review, while I probably wieled one of the zillion knives in his back, Mr. Yost was a very good sport about the negbomb so props to him.

I don't think it's really appropriate for me to comment on the recent event, since I was a participant, but the stuff that Fugitive did with Mr. Yost is great and I hope he will continue to track this sort of thing in the future.

I'll be honest: I think I might have both of them beat. But The Fugitive probably wasn't around back then.

however i don't remember a single insult or nasty word directed at anybody. in fact, my recollection was that he ultimately ate his humble pie with grace, and that is the mark of a gentleman.
