Positive Najee Harris Rumors from Michigan/USC 247 Board

Submitted by Caesar on

Hello folks,

Someone named Free Kobe, who has allegedly been info-solid since just after Pete Carroll's time at USC, says that signs favor Michigan, especially insofar as they don't look good for other teams:

  • That cal was closer than people realize due to a cal coach that has known family forever
  • Mom wants no part of her boy in the Deep South
  • Family wants him to get away from Nocal
  • USC and Michigan coaches have done a great job of recruiting him including having chance airport meetings with him
  • USC coach thinks he can pull both Carr and Harris but Carr 7on7 coach says no way in hell would Carr stick with USC in that scenario
  • Alabama returns everybody and Harris sees himself as three and out
  • He is better than anyone Michigan has now and Michigan will give him the ball 30 times a game
  • Been hearing Michigan for almost three weeks
  • Take it for what it's worth.

Everytime someone posts something positive about Najee Harris there are always people who are quick to come in and take a shit on it. I have no idea if Michigan will land him but it is clear from everything we have heard that our shot is real and legitimate. So I, for one, am staying positive. Even if we don't land him I am confident in our current backs and commits.

No one is shitting on anything. It's just there's no real positive news for Michigan or Bama. Everything Najee says can be interpreted to be good for us or them. They're extremely confident on their end. Free Kobe is saying the most positive stuff for us and he could be completely full of shit, I hope he isn't.

Simply having the opinion that Harris is going to stay with Alabama is hardly "taking a shit" on anything.

Believing that Harbaugh is a sizzle-and-no-steak failure in big games and hasn't proved anything and needs to be "held accountable" and Drevno should be fired? Now that's taking a massive, greasy dump all over everything.

On the subject of Najee's decision and talking to him personally

Michigan center commit Cesar Ruiz: "Not really, I haven't talked to him since the Future 50 (last year), well I talked to him at The Opening but I wasn't committed to Michigan then. I'm just now finding out the whole Najee thing. I have no clue. If we do (flip him), it's got to be quick."

Michigan defensive back commit Jaylen Kelly-Powell: "I don't have any thoughts on that. That's really his choice. Me personally, I don't try to force a guy to go to a school where they're not comfortable. It's their decision for the next three or four years."

Michigan defensive end commit Kwity Paye: "I know that there's a couple of our guys trying to recruit him, but I'm not too sure yet (if we can), to be honest."

Alabama safety commit Daniel Wright: "I mean hopefully we can get him to come on. I'm going to get in his ear this whole week. I know he'd be a great commitment for this program. He's a great player. A great running back."

Alabama linebacker commit Markail Benton: "With coach (Lane) Kiffin leaving, I could see it happen a little bit, but not really. I think in the end he'll stick with Bama. I'm going to talk to him."

this one.  First, it's been proven we can have nice things.  Coach Harbaugh, Brown, Wheatley, Mattison, Zordich, and everyone else.  Second having lived in NoCal myself, the idea of spending 3 or 4 years in Ann Arbor seems more appealing than Tuscaloosa.   Coach Harbaugh,  Coach Wheatley, and Coach Drevno have lived in No Cal, and have prospered in Najee's backyard.  In addition,  all the points raised by Free Kobe make sense to me except the 30 carries per game.  Don't buy that one, especially with our deep stable of backs returning.  Finally, for a lot of reasons won't go into, but you can imagine,  just think it would be a lot more fun for Najee to play at Michigan than at Bama.  Help us win the first Natty in a while will be a lot sweeter.   Thanks for posting !

I like our chances but I dont believe this FreeKobe guy has all this information. Basically he claims to have insider knowledge on California, USC, Najee Harris, Najee's mom, 5* RB Carr etc. Thats a broad range of insider information. If he really had this much info hed be a legit paid insider for a scouting website. He seems to be a guy who likes the attention from acting like an insider on 247 forums
He says Najees mom doesnt like Alabama yet her own Twitter is filled with positive things about Bama and has been for months.

Najees comments on the decision were "Im still committed to Alabama but Ill know for sure by Saturday"
I dont like his choice of words personally. Sounds like his still favoring Bama a little. I dont like that all week Alabama recruits will be blowing his phone up trying to get him to stay. I dont like that Bama is still in the CFP while Michigan lost to FSU. Our main hope is that Najee isnt like other 5 stars. If he wants to 100% play for a championship then Bama is the place. If he wants to build his own legacy then Michigan is a great place. If he doesnt care about the pressure then Bamas the place. If he wants a more laid back enviorment then Michigan is it.

My 2 cents on FreeKobe

I see some people cant be realistic and have to be defensive about everything that doesnt suck Michigan off. Being a running back at Bama vs being a running back at UM:

Bama: Bama is running back university. Heisman at some point of your career at Bama or bust. Must lead team to Championship or you arent even in the top 10 all time bama running backs

Michigan: Be above average and you are a God. Help team to just be top 4 in the CFP and you are the man of the town

Thats why if Najee doesnt want the weight of the world on him he'll choose Michigan

UM had produced a great many great backs.

College football did not begin in 2009 or whenever you started watching the sport. Both Michigan and Harbaugh are known for developing great running backs.

I don't know where OU get this idea that UM is laid back or that there is a lack of expectations, but it is not true. It appears that you have very limited knowledge of Michigan football.

Living in the past I see

What UM produced half a century ago is completely useless to current day recruits. They are looking at what is being produced right now. Right now Saban and Alabama is producing Heisman candidate running backs every other year from Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, Derrick Henry, Eddie Lacy etc etc.

Right now Michigan has not produced a worthwhile back since Mike Hart which was before most of these recruits could even use a TV remote.

If A running back doesnt mind the weight of having to be the next Ingram/Lacy/Richardson etc then Alabama is a great spot to go. If a running back doesnt want that weight then coming to Michigan is a great place to go as simply being above average is all most fans want.

He just put one in for Michigan. He never had an opportunity to put one in for Bama though. Harris has been committed there longer than Magnus has been making picks. I suppose it's still good news. Maybe he will say what it's based on.

This is a situation that we've faced many times, but now we are on the good side of it  . . . a recruit has you as his favorite for months (or has even pubically comitted in this case), but just won't pull the trigger and completely finalize the deal.  He keeps looking around.

We know how these always end up for us, we'll see if it ends up the same way for Alabama.

If he comes to Michigan, my hope is that his .10 second burst is better than what is on his HS tape.  He is going to need a burst with this OL that is coming back, which will not be good for at least 2 years.

well be an addition by subtraction situation.

Everyone was worried about the LB position group before the 2016 season.  Turned out to be an overall upgrade over the 2015 LB performance (even excluding the Peppers viper positon).

Could end up the same way with the 2017 line outperforming the 2016 line.

A lot of the difference at linebackers was Don Brown's coaching and a healthy D-Line. Having said that, I think you could be right. Onwenu could be just what we need on the inside. If Bredeson can make a sophomore leap we could be pretty solid.

But we can see this now with the benefit of hindsight.

Last August most thought the LB (excluding viper) position group would be the weakest link on the team (though I do admit there were a few who thought the LB positon group would work out, which it did).

So anyone who proclaims the Michigan will have an o-line in 2017 no better (or worse) than in 2016 should just...let it play out.

Bredesen probably will be significantly better as a sophomore.  Onwenu could turn out great.  Ruiz seems to be a guy that (like Bredesen) can play a true freshman.
