Braden would have been a first team guard had he not had to move to tackle. And Kalis fell off the wall the last few games. Remember that he was the best OL of the bunch through the first 8 games, or so. Surprised everybody! But he's come back down to Kalis-Earth the last few games, unfortunately.
Congrats to the dudes!!! But the real award will be a CFP date with Alabama...

Yes but people seem to think Eihflen* is great and he was worked by the Michigan defensive line.

I believe you mean the David Boston POS of the year award
November 30th, 2016 at 6:28 PM ^
Besides being part of OSU, what did he do to deserve those accolades?
November 30th, 2016 at 6:30 PM ^
At one point, he took a high blindside shot at Brandon Watson after the play was over. No reason and of course no flag.

He also had a very petulant moment with a ref after Gideon rode him out of bounds. He didn't like that, so he stared at the ref for a couple of seconds, and dropped the ball on the ground at the refs feet. That is when the OSU fanboy ref slapped his hiney as he essentially trotted through the ref back to the huddle. A very immature moment that was borderline PF territory.

JT Barrett sucks and is living off of the past few years. All he can do is run and we mostly bottled him up in this game.

Yup, 100% agree. I'm not sure if Barrett can be converted to another position, either. He doesn't have Braxton Miller's speed nor Pryor's size/speed. Maybe a team will give him a shot in the slot? I really am not sure if he has good hands, guess we will find out eventually. Great college player but am not sure how any NFL team finds him valuable enough to make a 53 man roster.
November 30th, 2016 at 9:36 PM ^
Somebody will try him at RB. He's too high profile to not go in the draft...
November 30th, 2016 at 11:31 PM ^
I really don't expect J.T. Barrett to be even drafted or stick with someones practice squad.
November 30th, 2016 at 10:39 PM ^
And Meyer's offense isn't a great one to prepare QBs for the pros. It's designed to simplify the number of reads they have to make. To go from there to an NFL offense has to be a huge transition.

He definitely improved over the course of the season. Fairly good decision maker too: he'd eat a sack or just throw it away vs. throwing a bad pick (only 5 INTs on the year).

Come on, man. He didn't show up throwing shade and talking smack. He backed up his point with some stats and was well-meaning. No sense in escalating it with a fan of another team who comes in peace.
November 30th, 2016 at 6:59 PM ^
I didn't really like it. But Dantonio and James Franklin don't seem to like each other --- that has been apparent to me since 2014. So that probably played a role in the "let's keep on passing the ball" TD to make it 45-12. Fair enough.
But besides that, I can't think of a single example of Franklin running up the score in 2016. He certainly had more chances than just the MSU game. PSU had the ball at the end of the Maryland, Rutgers, and Iowa games --- exclusively ran the ball on each drive but didn't punch it in despite being inside the 25 at the game's final whistle.
November 30th, 2016 at 8:03 PM ^
As I think the broadcast showed, that was justifiable vengeance for the "let's run up the score by handing off to an offensive lineman" tgat Sparty pulled last year
