Harbaugh calling out officiating
Harbaugh: "They got a gift interference call."
Harbaugh: 'Our guys did everything they possibly could. Bitterly disappointed with the officiating.'

In the 4th the announcers said Ohio St had one penalty and I was shocked.
Oh and its perfectly reasonable to assume that there were no holds or blocks in the back when a single player runs from one sideline to the other sideline against the best defense in the country who had it defended perfectly. Almost every single time you see that in any other game there is a flag. Not in Columbus.
And turns out you only need 9 yards for a first down in Columbus. Who knew?

Exactly--it was whining. But then, maybe that's Harbaugh's objective--get the press off his team and put it on himself. He doesn't care what anyone thinks of him, so he'll use the press to whine about the calls and everyone will forget the rest of it. Look at what this blog is talking about--certainly not about the details of the hame.
Would you'd rather be known as a "whiner" or the coach who lost an incredibly close game to OSU? You don't think this is planned? Look at the words, "I'm bitterly disapointed..." You've NEVER heard those words before?

This was way worse than the normal questionable calls that we see every week. This was atrociously bad.
The non-PI call in the 4th (OSU guy holding and then pulling Grant Perry to the ground) itself was decisive.
And they also should have called a PI on OSU during the second OT.
These calls decided the game. These are not mere questionable judgment calls. These are abvious missed calls.
The fact that M also made mistakes (interception, poor offensive play calling in the 4th quarter) does not erase the fact that these two blatant missed calls (among others) were beyond argument and outcome determinative.

The officiating in this game was an absolute clown show. Not suprising since somehow an Ohio HS ref who usually officiates BASKETBALL games was part of the crew. I honestly have not seen an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty called all year. funny, i don't recall anyone getting worried about Harbaugh getting an unsportsmanlike conduct penalties during the various sidline blow-ups throughout the year. now all of a sudden "it looks bad" . horseshit.

Good, im glad he is saying what we all know.
The refs were horrible against Michigan.
OSU had 2 penalties for 6 yards . No fucking way.....

Michigan outplayed and got robbed in the end. Proud of the way the men played today. Look forward to a great bowl game. Go Blue!

Was OK in a vacuum, but in such a tight game, having 3 calls go against us may have been the difference. Missed PI in the first half, holding on the Samuel play, and short on the Barrett run. Nevertheless, UM should've won this and it shouldn't have come to that. We were the better team on the day.
November 26th, 2016 at 4:54 PM ^
The face mask should be a 1st down, since the grabing is after Smith ran pass 1st down mask. Instead we got 3rd and 5. this is clearly worse call.
We have two obvious missed PI call, the one in OT could have cost us the game. The have multiple holding call get away with it. We also have 1 or two holding didn't get call.
All this call are critical 3rd down no call. and cost a drive. the ref just hand the game to the fucking OSU. It's discusting how this game is call. Worse than the IOWA game. Our team gave the best in this game, and get robbed by the ref.
I think the ref system needs to be changed. This is no accountablity at all. When ever I 'v seen a few faces in big ten ref, I know those game will not bord well to Michigan. How come there are some many anti-Michigan on the league and didn't even got accountable. I feel sorry for the players, they work so hard the entire season to get to this point. It should not be the ref determine the outcome. I strongly support Harbaugh to call out ref. It's not about our future game. That doesn't sound right. We are afraid to get robbed again because these 2-3 ucking refs in the league screw our season every single year? No fucking way!

Not happy with the way they got away with defensive holding that we got called for every time, but we still win easily if we don't do bonehead stupid stuff.
Running into the kicker AGAIN, drops, the facemask on the big run, etc. Every time we had a chance to put the dagger to them we put them right back into it.
It's frustrating that we finally seem to have a better team and we gave it away to them.

I spent the entire time coming home from that wishing he would do so. Seemed nearly every call and non-call went against us.

IT's not close. Our offense set them up for the win. Pretty simple, NO TO's win by 21.

Michigan to make NO mistakes. Sure we made mistakes. OSU did, too! Our 1st year starting injured QB lined up very well against the almighty Barrett, I thought. But with the ref calls AND noncalls, we were totally screwed.
The ref BS makes it look like the game was fixed. I just got a text from friends, a married couple who have never watched a football game, ever. My age, in their 50s. They texted, "So sorry about that... we watched the whole thing." I was floored! Guess it's never too late to become a football fan. The point is, even people not invested in this game thought it was unfair.

While it isn't the sole reason that game turned out the way it did, I do think someone should catalog the questionable and shit calls in this game really because I do agree with Harbaugh about that interference call, among others. That truly was one of the worst officiated iterations of The Game in recent memory.

Officiating and TO's cost us. I'm not sure but I think O$U had 1 flag this game. So many missed not sure where to begin.

Jim is correct because the officials were atrocious, but this will just look like sour grapes to anyone not in Wolverine Nation.

they cos tus the game. And sadly, there is no fight back. No accountablity at all. We got screwed again and again every sngle year.
You can develope your talent however you want. The refs can still call you holidng and chok you back and shut down your drive.

mark the ball correctly on the 2 penultimate plays, we would have won.
Sure, some things you control, others you don't. But both matter.
November 26th, 2016 at 4:51 PM ^
So many mistakes
punter roughing
facemask on big run
PI on a greatly overthrown ball by Barrett on 3rd down with 4 min left
We had a ton of penalties-
JH is right about the officiating, but he also needs to ask why his team commits so many stupid mistakes- that reflects on coaching

I said to my wife in the second quarter, she being an OSU fan, that this game was going to come down to the wire and then the refs would throw flags. As shitty as it was for Speight to keep OSU in the game with those TOs, UM was more hindered by the errors they could not control: WRs getting grabbed but no PI, the tons of holds on OSU in which we either get more sacks or they don't get long arse runs. The fact that OSU was flagged for two total penalties in is a huge fact. The fact that their DBs did not get called for one penalty is beyond belief to any objective fan.
Oh, and then, we stopped them to end the game, but we didn't. Of course, with that result, that call, the penalties not called are going to burn more than in normal games.
