Many years ago, I dated a girl who was not the sharpest knife in the drawer. But I wasn’t interested in her mental acuity – I was dating her with a far more hormonal goal in mind. (Right, that’s the one.)
Anyway, we’d gone to see “The Rock,” because we were Sean Connery fans. I liked it, but she’d gotten squeamish at the violence – specifically at the scene where the marine falls from the window and ends up skewered on the fence rail. As she put it, “I don’t know why they had to show him implored on that spike like that.”
Me: “Yes, I’m sure he begged them to cut that scene.”
She didn’t get it. Unfortunately, neither did I.

isn't related to the thread at all. It's just a lame story you have been dying to tell a message board for several years. Look at me how smart and witty I am story. No wonder you never got laid.

his story is a lot more interesting than all the "to hell with ND" posts here.

It relates to the guy saying he will be begged for his comment rather than negged.

I don't usually receive this kind of hostile negativity unless it's signed "Love, Mother."

I thought that story really had legs when you said you went to see The Rock. What a letdown...
November 7th, 2016 at 11:51 AM ^
Yeah, tell me about it.
Actually, the movie wasn't bad. Most pictures with Nicholas Cage require you to suspend a little more disbelief than usual, but this was OK. And it's always fun to watch Connery kick ass.

Must have been some die hard Family Buy lovers but for the most part he was right he got begged pretty good.

I liked the Boston episode a couple of weeks ago. It was the first episode I've watched in a while.
November 7th, 2016 at 9:22 AM ^
I agree and upvoted you. The show has been pretty awful for a long time. In the early-mid 00's it got really bad. I was a true believer and watched every week and watched it all go down hill.
BUT while they can't deliver classic episodes on the level of Homer at the Bat, Monorail or Mr. Burns' son anymore, they still can produce some good one-off jokes and one-liners. For example, some of the bits in this year's Boston episode are pretty great. It's not totally bad anymore - there is hope.

The Simpsons had a down period for about 5-6 seasons while they were working on the movie, but ever since then, its been as good as always.

The movie was obviously not a good movie, but Spider Pig is legendary.

actually hates Jim Harbaugh?
We hate coaches for things like putting injured players back in the game, for saying they "don't believe in (some types) of injuries", for covering up serious scandals, for saying douchey things to the media and also for general off-the-field misconduct.
As far as I can tell, Jim Harbaugh is guilty of throwing his hat around sometimes and yelling at a ref for a few seconds. No one hates him. They hate how competitive he is and how hard his teams try to win every game (often with a lot of success).
Apparently he didn't get along with the 49ers ownership / front office for some reason, and that team cratered as soon as Harbaugh was gone, which kind of speaks to the whole 'Jim Harbaugh will wear out his welcome' BS. I'll always take a coach who yells at a ref for 5 seconds, gives passive aggressive answers to the media and also wins games without any wrongdoing and without any scandals.

Yeah, but he works too hard, even in the summer. Can't have that. That's family time.
