Flying SEC flags and chanting "S-E-C!" seems overboard. While I agree they do probably have some of the best teams in the country, I have never heard the same outward expressions reciprocated with any other conference.

Without getting too political, since moving down here I've come to at least understand it, though not agree. The south was pissed that Lincoln, effectively, unilaterally ended slavery, which is against the constitution. It's funny though, because while Lincoln had no power to free confederate slaves, the south still claims that its a states rights issue because it's anti-constitutional (meaning a USA law, which they weren't a part of) I usually reply with "yeah it was absolutely unconstitutional, but that doesn't mean it was wrong. I can at least see the other side and appreciate the point of view. Unfortunately many actually want to reinstitute slavery laws. Lots of blatant racism.
