This is for your thoughts that don't really lend themselves well to categorization.

McDoom is legit. Evans is legit. Linebackers looked really good. Felt great for McCray and how he finally got on the field. Play all the freshmen! Worried about the potential injuries, depth will matter a lot later in the year against good teams. The announcers were awful. And that's being generous. I need a beer.

It's hilarious to me that the student section kept trying to do the wave, but section 24 (the one immediately south of the student section) wouldn't pick up on it. So after 3 or 4 tries they said "fuck it" and sent it the other way. Unfortunately a touchdown or something interrupted them before they could finish the cycle (they did everything but the criss cross).

Jeff Smokevitch's place was pcked with Wolverines. Best moment: Two Ohio State fans walk in, ask to put the OSU game on TV. Two dozen Wolverines pivot on their bar stools to face them. Shout in unison:"WRONG BAR!!!" The comaradarie was beautiful today.

More talented players + hard work = Victory + Superior coaching (Harbaugh and staff) = Blowout

Harbaugh in the back seat sleeping through the Spice Girls was pretty hilarious,. but generally... Any show that relies on video boards that much is usually not very good. I couldn't figure out what the point was, aside from making a few weird jokes about satellite camps and taking advantage of some Harbaugh cameos (and a body double shot from behind).

15 questionable play reviews. They had several plays that would have been reviewed last year. They just looked at it once and just went with the call. Another thing speaking of last year that pic on the first offensive play of the game seemed like it never happened. What with the ensuing possesion resulting in a 98 yard drive for the first points of the game.

It is so much fun to watch a well coached team roll out on the field and take care of business. Great job all around and hope they have some time to recuperate from a few of the injuries we all saw.

Great to see Evans having so much success running left behind Bredeson and Newsome. Young TEs blocked and released. McDoom and Crawford are ready. 15+ true frosh played and they looked ready - some are not quite physically ready, but the class is outstanding.

The team looked good. Hopefully the injuries are minor and can be dealt with prior to the start of conference play. People are worried about burned redshirts, but the commentators explained Harbaugh's strategy on this, so I think it will pay dividends in future seasons.

Speight missed Darboh on an out route. If Rudock could have hit those to start last year we beat Utah and Sparty. Not for a few weeks, but that is a throw Speight has to make. Last year it looked like he could so not too worried there, but need to nitpick something.

Couldn't be more excited about Evans. Best debut I can remember since...? I thought MIke Hart was dynamite from the start but he didn't have a big game till week 3. I want to see him get every carry but they got to keep him fresh. He has game changing ability, cant let him wear down.

The most pleasant surprise were the linebackers. Didn't look like a weak link to me. Peppers was a heat seaking missile.

I may have to pump the breaks on Gary a bit. I thought he'd plug right in - I think solid contributor is a realistic goal for at least 1st half of the season.

I couldn't watch the game, so I listened to the broadcast on Sirius.

Brandstatter is a little better this year than last.  Not a lot, but a little.  He still tends to get too excited on a play and delay telling the audience what actually happened.  But there were fewer of those instances today than in the past.

Dierdorf was, as usual, excellent.  The two of them -- Brandstatter and Dierdorff -- still have to iron out who talks ... there was a few cases where they stepped on each other's commentary.

The jersey numbers caused a few moments of confusion.

Overall ... listening while I puttered with some home projects while listening to Michigan football was quite enjoyable.  The day here in central WV was perfect.

Just for the summer.

Long story short ... wife inherited her mother's place here.  It sat empty for over a year, and word started to spread nobody lived here any more.  People started nosing around.  I took up residence in April, and started hunting ground hogs, so the sound of gunfire was heard on the hillsides.  Word is now "someone lives there."  Mission accomplished.

Back to Arizona in the late fall, then back here in the late spring.

One of the beat writers reports that 17 true freshman played. I could only recall seeing 15 but there were 17 on the player participation list Michigan publishes.

The 15 I recall

1) C Evans

2) K Davis

3) McDoom

4) Crawford

5) McKeon

6) Asiasi

7) Bredeson

8) Onwenu

9) Dwumfour

10) Gary

11) Uche

12) Bush

13) Long

14) Hill

15) Hudson

Now the 2 I dont recall seeing but that were on the list Michigan published

16) Josh Metullus

17) Nate Schoenle (freshman WR from Gabriel Richard) - did this guy really play?

Thanks - Yeah I just saw that after posting. I went back and looked at the participation list that is with the boxscore on the Michigan website and Karl Myers is on it...so Michigan's list actually has 18 while Angelique shows 17. Maybe Michigan's list is incorrect with Schoenle actually not playing as Ive often felt those participation problems because of the duplicate number issue
