OT: Parking for Real Madrid-Chelsea at Big House?
I'll be travelling to the Big House for the first time in my life in the month of July -- and couldn't be happier about it -- to take in the Real Madrid-Chelsea match.
Does anyone have any details about parking for the game? Obviously, there will be no golf course parking in the middle of the summer. I am wondering, which lots are going to be open? Would you advise a pre-pay?
For those who are also going to the game, where do you plan on parking?
Thanks very much. I am really looking forward to this.
The North side of south campus was always free, known mostly to the locals due to the 1-way streets, and a pleasant walk across campus.
Man, I miss living on North Thayer...
Somebody's lawn.... I'm sure you'll find plenty of parking. Don't stress it.
that lawn parking is actually illegal and you can be ticketed for it except on football saturdays. what that means for futbol saturdays is beyond me...
Drive up to the stadium's front door, through it, then through one of the gates.
Keep going, drive your car down the stairs. It'll be bumpy and you may hit a few slow moving people. Speed up at the very bottom to make it over the rail.
As your car slams onto the field, your heart should now be pumping furiously, filled with adrenaline.
Now comes the hard part - find an empty patch of field to park on. You will have to swerve around security guards and players to do, but you should find somehting in one of the very field corners.
If anyone gives you any trouble, simply say you're with Mgoblog. If they persist, tell them it's the media outlet that got Dave Brandon fired.
You shouldn't have any problems after that.
True story walking around Ann Arbor and saying “I am an MGoBlogger” basically gives you the same protections as saying “civis romanus sum” during the Roman Empire. You can walk anywhere without fearing reprisals, and the woman, the woman swoon in awe when they find out you spend your free time on MGoBlog
Brett should have said, "Civis Romanus Sum".
You know, I've tried that a few times and for as long as people thought I was simply in that mass of people called "MGoBloggers", it worked. The problems began when I told them WHICH MGoBlogger and the whole mod thing, so I am going to wear a shirt to the next event which says "NOT a mod" and see how that goes.
....and tell them you are WD!
I'm guessing Pioneer HS will have plenty of parking open for $20 (across the street). I usually park on the street on Scio Church Rd and walk to the stadium.

"The Golf Course will NOT be open for the Soccer Game so parking will be VERY tight."
It doesn't specify whether this is UMGC, AAGO, or both. The UMGC clubhouse is being rebuilt, but I don't know if that's a factor in the course being open.
Park n Party isn't taking any reservations for AAGO, which leads me to believe it won't be available.
The official site says that UMGC will be open, so...I'm not sure what to think here. Anyway, appreciate the info!
I called the UMGC today and confirmed that they WILL be open for parking/tailgating starting at 7 AM.
Gentlemen...start your engines...

Did Brandon run for AA School Board?
I think Pioneer will be more than $20, I would bet $50ish... There will be parking at houses all over for $20 though. On a side note, I have a bunch of midfield tickets that I will sell for half the $180 face price if anyone wants. email azg at umich dot edu I can deliver in person across from the stadium or mail out toady/tomorrow.
Madrid is sending the B squad.
Giving them away. I get free tickets.
Still have extras? Looking for two.
I can offer free parking ~3 blocks from the Big House...
I gave away my university allotment already.
OK, thanks!
Section 1 row 79 for $80 each or section or Section 23 row 47 for $90 each. I would prefer to sell 4 at at time for this half off price. I have a house on Pauline, so I am set for parking, thanks, but if you pick them up in person I'b be happy to pour you a fresh Lager from Wolverine State brewing as part of the transaction.
I bought way too many. 2 Years ago I ended up having people from all over asking me for tickets, so I assumed the same this year, it never happened and now I am stuck with a bunch of ticket that it is looking like I am going to sell cheap.
Consider going on craigslist and searching for parking/making an ad requesting for parking. Lots of students not in their apartments/houses will probably sell you a spot for pretty cheap. I know my buddies used to do this for football games.
Season ticket holder (and consistent golf course parker) since 2002. :-)
Sorry about the phrasing and confusion there.
60$ to park at the freaking high school?
that is absurd.
rant over.
It's ridiculous. They even started charging $40 (it used to be free up until the Hoke era) for the spring game. I can't believe people would pay that much for parking.
Right now (of course, it's early in the week), the weather forecast I'm seeing for AA on Saturday looks a-maize-ing (or would it now be a-amarillo-ing?)

Yeah...I think we're planning on hitting the road fairly early to make the 4 hour trek and arrive sometime before 11.
There is a lot downtown on Ashley (1 block west of Main) behind Connor O'Neils, Gratzi, Chop House, etc. It will cost ~$12 probabaly if you are there all afternoon.
Park there, have lunch at any of the restaruants downtown (I suggest Jolly Pumpkin).
Then walk about a mile to the Stadium.
I've been doing that ever since Pioneer went to $50.
