Michigan vs Hawaii to be at Noon on ESPN
Oklahoma v Houston is gonna be a good game. It could go a long way for Houston, if they can pull the upset. I've always liked Stoops so I hope Okla. gets the W.
I'd much rather Oklahoma lose for several important reasons.
1) If Oklahoma ends up as the Big 12 champion (they are strong preseason favorites), that loss could be very helpful to a 1 loss Big Ten Champion (which hopefully will be us).
2) It would be much more amusing to watch the OSU reaction to losing to an Oklahoma team that lost to Houston just a few weeks prior.
New Year's Day. Wow.
"Wife, kids........GTFO......I'll see you on Tuesday"
Agree - love the lineup. Just makes our game look a little lame though.
I have a wedding to go to at 3 p.m. so this should work great! Awesome news!
I outright refuse to ever attend a wedding during a home game. Don't care if it is my best friend, he knows better than that.

All the weddings I've been to during football season are friends or family of my wife. My side of the family knows better than that.
I'm irrationally giddy about seeing that #3 ranking next to Michigan's name. Even if its early, seeing a ranking that high after the past number of years is just awesome. Makes me that much more excited for this season!
Just to be clear I believe the rankings next to these teams is based off of the "Way-Too-Early Top 25" list that ESPN did recently.
The AP polls and whatever preseason rankings usually come out in July or August if I am not mistaken. But either way Michigan will most likely be Top 10 or Top 5.
And I love noon games.
Wake up at 5:30, make some breakfast, and watch some football.
The most important game of the day is over by 9am, and then I get to go to the beach and enjoy my Saturday outside.
I wish every game was at noon (Hi WD!). Nothing beats a 6am start time!
How long have you lived there? I grew up there and moved away in 97. I remember "close your eyes time" on the local news, when major prime time games were on tape delay. I had the UM v. UNC NCG spoiled for me b/c of tape delay.
And yes, I tell everyone here how great football @ 6 AM is.
This will be my second football season in Hawaii.
Another positive, which can't be understated, is that a 6am start allows the wife to sleep in. By the time she's awake, you have breakfast made for her, Michigan football is over, and now you get to spend the whole day together without being glued to the tv or smartphone.
I am really going to miss the convenience of these 6am starts.
I'm not a big fan of the tape delay showing of all the games. I go into bars or restaurants for dinner, and they'll be showing a game that I've already seen/know how it ends. Kinda ruins the atmosphere IMO. I'd rather hit up a bar at 6am and watch it live.
love this time zone for sports.
Never thought I would have like it either and wouldn't have 20 years ago but now it's great.
Give me a 9am CFB start Saturday kickoff (any game but preferably not UM yet) and all day action that ends at around 10pm or so. NFL Lions games Sunday 10am most times and stuff done at 4pm. The best is the Tigers 4pm start times for most games allows me to watch them and walk dogs after game at 7pm when cools down.
If I had the choice I wouldn't go back to EST.
For Hawaii, that sucks and a half when you consider that they'll be doing this having come from Australia the week before. Halfway around the world and back again - more than back again - and two football games. Night will be day, day will be night, noon will be early morning to them and they will probably play the same sort of football that any team would play at 6 AM, but worse....much worse.

The SEC usually always opens the season with some Thursday night snoozer.
That day is Hawaian shirt day, so if you wanna go ahead and wear jeans and a Hawaian shirt, that'd be great

Oh...we're gonna need you to go ahead and come in on Saturday. Yeah...

You realize you're just sitting in traffic, right?
Why not sit around a tailgate and let everyone else leave early.

is illegal.
But to WDs point, we do sometimes hang out for a little while afterwards but it does not have the same energy as pre-game.
And to Mad Hatter's point, I do feel the eyes of the police when I am drinking a few after the game in an empty golf course. (Hence the keys handed over to the wife).

That is a pretty darn good opening weekend lineup.
Okahoma-Houston - this could be the game that gets Herman catapulted into a Texas/USC/Alabama caliber of job.
LSU-Wisconsin - not overly confident that Wisconsin will be able to stop Fournette, or even slow him down much, but its so nice to see an SEC team actually have the balls to travel north of the Mason-Dixon line for a change. And its at Lambeau.
Alabama-USC - I think USC gets routed, but its two college football titans, and with Alabama reeling on its OL and breaking in a new QB, who knows what could happen.
ND - Texas - guess we'll find out how improved UT really is. If Strong wants to keep his job, this would be a good place to start.
Ole Miss - FSU - hot damn, this is whole weekend is just an orgy of what could be some amazing football games. The fiancee will have to forgive me if I don't move from the couch from noon Saturday until the end of the night on Monday.
It really is the best opening weekend in quite some time.
I wouldn't undersell the Badgers too much. They should've beat LSU last year and the Badger defense is usually pretty stout. They're definitely still underdogs, but I think it's much more likely Wisconsin knocks off LSU than USC knocks off Alabama (especially because Wisconsin beat USC in the bowl game this past season).

yeah, just too bad so few of them are on campus, where college sports belong
Glad to have the noon start for this one. I have a family function to host Saturday evening and the 3:30 start would have put a strain on the marriage.
This is exactly the kind of game that belongs at noon. Which is why noon games suck.
