Maryland during the Joe Krivak years was.....exactly that.

The first game my parents took me to see at Michigan Stadium was actually the 1985 Michigan Maryland game, while the Terrapins were coached by Bobby Ross, of all people. Who knew he'd show up in Metro Detroit again - this time for a slightly longer period - around a decade later?

1) The student section is completely full from top to bottom.

2) Note the three or four rows directly behind the benches are completely empty. Does anyone know if seats were actually sold for those areas, or did they not because of the obvious obstructed view due to these rows being at field level and blocked by each team?

Lastly, I was a student a few years after this, when the band was in section 40-41 and not the student section. I don't see where the band is located. Does anyone know if they were in that same area around this time?

I was at this game sitting in Section 40 and the band was still sitting across the field from Section 40 at that time, basically where they are now. I don't believe they moved to Section 40 until many years after this game.

were a member of the MMB, but didn't the band sit along the eastern sidelines across from the student section for many many years prior to moving to their current location? I seem to remember them being there, as I've had season tickets since 1977 and have been in my same section 36 seats since '80. BTW, have you been back to the Michigan Forum at all? I've pretty much stayed away from there now for well over a year. What had been a good group of regular posters had largely turned into a circus due to a small handful of jerks so I pretty much lost interest. I'll still go there occasionally, but mostly lurk & seldom post.

I was a student from 2003-07.. I think the band was across from us during my freshman year and then moved to the bottom side of our section... I could just be recalling this from tv, not sure ?

What actually happened to lead people to believe all these accounts were WD? Before I signed up I was just a lurker reading news and I read about some guy roll damn tide who was someone else pretending to be a Bama fan but got caught by not logging out to the other account. Did something like that happen with WD.

Jay don't you have more important things to worry about right now other than the game that's in this panoramic photo? Like Becky with the good hair? Or like not messing up with Bey again?

I don't think it's the 85 game. I don't remember the highlight yellow "track" around the field.

We beat them 20-0.  We cleared the bench in that game, all the way down to some scrub walk-on linebacker.  Wooooo, blowout wins.

The American flag clearly indicates winds coming out of the SW.  The 1990 MD game had NNE winds, the 1989 MD game had SE winds, and the 1985 game had SW winds.

OK It's definitely not the 1985 game.

Maryland wore red britches in that game (vs. Harbaugh & Co.).

It's probably either the 1989 or 1990 game.

In the 1990 game Maryland wore all-whites (shirts and pants).

However, the 1990 game was with overcast skies start to finish.

My guess: Your photo is from the 1989 game - Michigan 41, Maryland 21. Sunny skies from start to finish.
