Damn, I got orders to attack Tennessee, which is held by GT, our ally, and the Institute from which I hold a degree. Ah well. Go Blue.

Athens is WAY more similar to AA than Clemson.

05/17/2018 - 9:31am Went to the FSU @ Clemson

Went to the FSU @ Clemson game in 2013 when both were in the top 5. It was indeed crazy...because FSU was up by 40 early in the 4th quarter and the stadium was half empty.

Also was at the 2004 GT game where Calvin Johnson caught a last second TD in his second ever college game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JL6YQsw7Y4 (trigger warning: late game punt snap situation).

It's a great place to watch a game, but I think UGA is better.

I'm getting 503 and 504 errors on BTN2GO. If anyone else is having that issue, the games are also being streamed on Fox Sports Go, and I'm having no issues with that.

Grew up going to pretty much every Michigan home game, but wanted to go somewhere warmer for school. Would still root for Michigan if they ever played each other.

03/22/2017 - 2:26pm IANAP

IANAP, but it sounds like basically the linkage between the mechanism that controls the right rear elevator and the elevator itself was damaged, so when the pilot tried to put it in position for takeoff, it didn't move.

The elevators are the pieces on the tail of the plane that control the pitch of the plane. These things:

12/02/2016 - 2:45pm This doesn't necessarily

This doesn't necessarily solve the problem of determinig the exact position of the ball when the runner is ruled down, but kind of a tangential thought I had as a result of last weekend.

Why don't the referees always spot the ball at the nearest yard marker after a first down? That way, the line to gain is always precisely known.

For example, the ball is spotted at exactly the 25 in overtime (the edge of the line closet to midfield), so we know the line to gain is exactly the side of the 15 closest to midfield. So why not, after a first down at the opponent's 47.233458 yard line, move the ball back  to exactly the 47, so the line to gain is exactly the 37. What difference does the .233458 yards make? That spot is mostly a guess on the linesman's part anyways, right? This would at least eliminate the need for chains, no?

Obviously there are edge cases near the goal line where this wouldn't apply.

I can't be the first person to think this and I'm sure I haven't thought it through enough. Tell me why I am wrong.

07/15/2016 - 12:10pm I happened to be at the 2013

I happened to be at the 2013 FSU @ Clemson game, and I honestly have to say that was at least equally as dominating a performance from a road team against a highly ranked home team halfway+ into a season. Death Valley was half empty midway through the third quarter. At least most of the PSU fans stayed.

07/15/2016 - 12:01pm I was 14, and to that point

I was 14, and to that point had probably been to about 50 Michigan home games, but only a couple of away games, both at MSU (including a couple of weeks earlier). After the MSU game, we knew the season could be really special, so my dad decided we were getting a group together and heading to Happy Valley. With the 3:30 game time, we were able to get up early and drive there that morning. I wish I could remember everything about that day because it was so awesome, but here are the bits I do remember:

  • We sat in the lower corner near the goalline, which was the Michigan section. We had ourselves a good time.
  • The first defensive series setting the tone for the whole game.
  • The huge sideline hit that ended both players' careers (Daydrion Taylor and Bob Stephenson).
  • Charles' wide open TD down the middle of the field.
  • Making fun of the stupid Nittany Lion roar.
  • Some general chatter/rumors in the stands about what crazy shit went down in the Missouri/Nebraska game.
  • Walking out of the stadium chanting "It's great...to be...a Michigan Wolverine."
  • The general politeness of the PSU fans after the game and congratulations we received despite said chants.
  • Watching the highlights later and seeing the guy that sat in front of us at our seats at home games was also there and had a big "The New #1" sign.

This was the best game I've ever attended, and I've been there for a lot of the good ones incuding the Rose Bowl later that year. I watch the WH YouTube video of it at least once a year.

06/08/2016 - 6:57pm Licensing

Does nobody in this thread understand the concept of licensing? They can't just start making and selling Michigan helmets without going through the university and/or IMG and getting approval and (probably) paying some large sum of money to do so.

05/06/2016 - 3:52pm This is basically the point

This is basically the point Tesla is at right now (although a little more advanced than your description even). This is a video of a guy's entire commute using autopilot as much as possible. It's obviously a long watch, but he does a great job of explaining when and why autopilot is engaged/disengaged, and the situations that are difficult for autopilot to handle. In the end, it's a 45 minute commute and autopilot is in use 85% of the time.
