OK, I'll bite... If you think GoT is a bad show, what would you consider a good show? Obviously there is no accounting for taste, but it is the most popular show in the history of HBO. And when that list includes the likes of The Soprano's, that is saying something. So no, you don't have to like it because others do, nor does the opinion of the majority invalidate your contrary opinion, but you really are in the minority here...

Step by Step, Cheaters, Maury, anything with Xtreme in the title. Ricki Lake before she became a humanitarian pragmatic. That show about Czech weasels and their disappearing habitat. A Xenophobe in Paris. Two Men and a Sloth of Unknown Origin. Perfect Strangers. The list goes on and on. There's some wonderful stuff out there.

But have you seen Two Men and a Sloth of Unknown Origin? Complex characters, breathtaking narrative, superb acting. This isn't some woman being berated in the street in her birthday suit, or a slow plotting about a suspected backstabbing with terrible dialogue between two ridiculous characters with unbecoming accents, or an army of frost men rendered with subpar special effects. Two Men and a Sloth is real television. Real Amercian television.

I know way too much about this season already from following spoilers during filming, but I'm still really excited. This season looks like it's going to be great. It should put everything in place for the endgame, as the writers have said there's only 10-15 hrs. left after this season. Valonqar Morghulis!

I can't help it. I was the kind of kid that would look in my parent's closet to peek at my Christmas presents. I only really know about the filming locations and which characters were cast, giving a general idea of where this season is going. They were able to keep a lot under wraps, so I don't know who dies or anything major.

Agree on the self indulgence of AFFC and ADWD (relative to the first 3), but I find the show lacks the depth and complexity of the books. So for me the show feels kind of dumbed down--even by the lowered standards of books 4 and 5. But I'll probably watch it anyway, since it's realistically the only way to find out what happens :P

If you mean that the show simply shows what people are wearing and eating and how things are decorated instead of spending twenty pages describing them, then yes the books have more depth. The self indulgence of the last two books along with the creeping and depressing realization they will never get finished has made me lose a lot of the appreciation I had for them.
