McElwain has good words for Spring break camp
And you thought it was all done... Then this, in the DetNews, from UF's Jim McElwain:
“I kind of look it as more power to him,” McElwain said Tuesday, the day before the Gators opened spring practice. “It’s totally legal. He’s not doing anything that’s illegal. He’s pressing the envelopes. He’s putting their name in the paper every day. And, you know, that’s cool. I mean, I’d come to Florida, too.
“There are great players here, right? There’s a reason every school in the country comes here and recruits. So I think for them it’s trying to gain an edge and give them an opportunity to practice in great weather. I don’t plan on taking ours to Michigan. I’m all for what he’s doing.”
He speaks truth, maybe because he's hoping Jim will finally call off Chesson?

Somebody's about to get an angry phone call from Sankey.
It's just one less angry phone call that Sankey receives. And angry phone calls from other SEC athletic departments is what got him out there as the face-man for this in the first place.
McElwain was honest, congratulatory and straightforward after we beat them, and once again shows that he is a stand up guy.
41-7 is very humbling.
he's probably spent his first year at Florida giggling at the silliness of his fellow AD's and Sankey, all the while still feeling the contact buzz from all that time inhaling the Colorado air.
He's Harbaugh's bitch now.
Goddamn, I wish the upvote button worked right now.
it does.

I see what's going on. It's kind of annoying but good to know.

McElwain cannot say anything bad about spring practices in FL because he just had his lunch handed to him by Michigan in his home state in the bowl game.
It seems to me like he is trying to cash in on the attention these practices are still getting. He is very flattering to his home state. He talks about the great weather, the great players, and how everyone comes to FL to recruit. He knows that will play well with his constituency. He does take a subtle jab at Michigan though when he says he would never take his team to Michigan for practices.
Maybe I'm reading too much into this, or maybe I've watched too much House of Cards in the last few days, but it definitely seems like McElwain is doing this for his own personal gain.
The biggest SEC troll made the comparison between Trump and Harbaugh back in February.

claims with facts. I can tolerate him. Don't understand what is meant by "He is good at recruiting, but everyone else is better." Wouldn't that indicate we come in with the no. 128 class annually. Pick up your game Paul. Also find the Trump analogy confusing. True, both look for attention but one has accomplished a lot, the other is laughingstock. Again, Paul?
Pretty sure he didn't say Harbaugh is a laughing stock . . .
Good thing nobody can see the yuuge amount of the downvotes you just received.

And it's just human nature to try to spin things in a way that gives some benefit to yourself. I have zero issue with anything he said, and anyone who tries to find any is just really reaching.
Maybe he just believes what he is saying. I know it is unusual, but occasionally people, even football coaches, actually give an honest answer.
but that climate in the SEC is only an advantage when you are not playing ball or doing some winter driving.
I thought he gave Jim his due without whining, yet managed to compliment the players in his state. Of all the SEC coaches, he is the one who cannot bitch about Harbaugh's decisions without coming across as a "sore loser."
Like Jim, he had a hell of a first season, and I'm hoping he finds the OC to put it together for him because he damn sure has the players to score.
I'd MUCH prefer to be in Michigan than Florida! That Florida summer heat and humidity is really oppressive.
He can't really say anything else b/c people will just say "shut up he smoked you in the bowl game." But I still applaud him for applauding Harbaugh.
SEC and ACC marching towards McElwain's house as we speak with their torches in hand.
I hope he destroys everyone in the SEC this year.
I thought that this was about Greg McElwain. Too many McElwains down there.

Reminds me of in High School when a bully beats you up then you kiss up to them and always back them up so they don't beat you anymore.
...and Mississippi’s Hugh Freeze questioned the move by saying “I’m not sure how a college coach can be on a high school campus during a quiet (recruiting) period.”
Actually, Freeze does have a ready answer to this, but to jeopardize the vast network of individuals who work hard behind the scenes to make Ole Miss what it is would be an unfathomable betrayal. Well, then again, how much are we talking about here? He does have names, after all.
Yoda-phrasing!
I wonder how many people will pass on going to JerryWorld for that game. We've already played Florida plenty of times and watching college football in an NFL stadium sucks.
