247 Composite Class Calculator - Expected Finish #5 class (ish)

Submitted by Champeen on

Michigan currently sits distant third with 267.47 points.

Taking Elliot, Johnson and Weaver off expected commit list: 260.46 points.

Adding the following 10 per most probable according to this site:

McDoom
Stewart
Allen
Nordin
Gary
Hudson
Murphy
Young
Hill
Fuller

Gives 283.68 points.

IMO, we do not get Fuller, but keep Elliot: 284.15 points.

Either of the above places Michigan 2nd to LSU's 286.57 (if all other teams stay the same which they wont). Both above point totals would have placed 5th last year in recruiting class rankings.

5th place +/- 2 spots seems about right for our final projected finish.

I'm not saying this is the case but some players lack high end potential, whether it's age, athleticism, or even work ethic. If Swenson lacks some of those things it would be a major turnoff.

If your coach asked you to come work out for him and you refuse, that's not a good sign of someone willing to compete and that's not a good sign for how coachable he will be once he gets here. Harbaugh is showing he will take lower rated guys that work their butts off and are willing to compete every day. Also a guy who competing coaches in Illinois have said dialed it down his Senior year is not a guy willing to compete and bring it every day. Even Bo has pulled scholarships from guys like that.

Les is a friggin boss.  We can add 10 players incl #1 in the country and still be behind LSU if they did not add a single dude?   And this with Les with walking papers waiving over his head 60 days ago.

Helps when your home state has 2 5* and 19 4* and there is no other in-state competition. They may likely sweep the top 10 in their state. I think they may end up with 17 of those 21...crazy.

Also, 14/22 current commits are from LA.

LSU is one of the best jobs in the nation for this reason and this is why Les is going to continue to be on the hot seat if he doesn't make the playoffs.

well barring some sort of disaster happening, we all shouldve known we were for sure getting a top 5 class. I personally think we will end up with either the #3 or 4 behind shit state and Lsu for sure.

The quality of this class for us looks to be a surprise even to Harbaugh.  Drevno (allegedly) said that we have a lot more high ranking guys interested in us than we thought we would.

This is a great class, but it will have only one 5-star if we can get Gary (albiet the #1 5-star).

As Harbaugh gets this thing rolling, look for years where we get multiple 5-stars.  That will make the difference between us being ranked #5 and being ranked #1/2/3.

I think it will right around 5 maybe 6th.

This class is a lot about filling holes that our last two classes #20 and #37 missed. Harbaugh has only had a year to establish relationships with these kids, a lot of these 5 stars have been recruited for years.

It really doesn't matter. You just want to be in the top ten every year.

It's 2 or 3 if a lot of the remaining top guys are spread around 5 or 6 teams.

And what will our unicorn and rainbow finish look like with the DLS duo, and a couple of others.

As I recall, with only limited time to recover a class at all last year, we still managed something like #36 or #37 (I could be wrong on that, but numbers in that range stick out for some reason), which is impressive in itself really. Improving that all the way to a Top 5 recruiting class, should that turn out to be the case, is doubly impressive to me anyway.

That it's ranked better than OSU's.  That hasn't happened in a while and would be our first victory over our rival that hopefully preceeds more to come on the field.

Even if that doesn't happen, the improvement in recruiting since the start of this recruiting season has been awesome and Harbaugh's classes will only get better.

Sounds about right, though I think we may improve that projection to the favorable side of the margin of error. In the future, this should be our expected finish, more or less. It's hard to compete against bagmen and good schools with nice climates. If Harbaugh consistently brings in top five classes, let the good times roll.

Les recruits like a boss every year and still underachieves, at least on offense, every single year. Can recruit 5 star offensive players all across the board and can't do squat with them.

We need to go hard for Asiasi as I thought he was one of the best ready to play tight ends available. Tagaloa would be a great get too but not as much a need. Really depends on Elliott but I would make room for them both.
