Michigan Makes Top 3 for Isaac Nauta
He just released his top 3: Alabama, Georgia, Michigan. Still hope?

Exactly. A lot of people here seem to think that since we have Jim Harbaugh, he should go here and he is dumb to go anywhere else. I wouldn't go anywhere but Michigan if I was a recruit, no matter if it wasn't the ideal fit for my position or skill set.

The most recent "Crystal Ball" for the new TE offer was back to Mizzou. That made me think we might have made some strides with Nauta. What is an absolute fact, is that if you are a TE and want to be utilized like an NFL Playmaker, you go to Michigan over Georgia or Alabama. Don't understand why you would consign yourself to blocking 90% of the time with an occaisional bone thrown your way over being a potential focus of an offense with the talent Nauta has.
December 20th, 2015 at 2:22 PM ^
Yeah, you go to college to better yourself.
Much as I like Michigan now, there were other places I would have rather gone that were closer or felt more comfortable or I was familiar with or I knew people there. But I chose Michigan because it had the best program for what I wanted to do. And it was good at the other stuff anyway.
For that same reason, Nauta would be crazy not to come to Michigan and play for Harbaugh if he has a chance.
He can always go get some graduate degree at Gerorgia when he's done at Michigan and done playing in the NFL if he's that into Georgia. But for where he is now, he needs to go to Michigan.

For that same reason, Nauta would be crazy not to come to Michigan and play for Harbaugh if he has a chance. Can we tone it down with this rhetoric? There are plenty of good options to go around for this kid. Notre Dame pumps out pro-ready TEs as well, for example.
December 20th, 2015 at 3:46 PM ^
There are other great schools / options for him to go play TE, but Nauta didn't list Notre Dame, Stanford, or any other school that actually looks to make TE play a priority. You are creating an argument that doesn't exist. Nauta has listed 3 schools, and based on those 3 choices, Michigan is the clear choice if you are a TE and want to be an integral part of an offense. Now there are many other factors that go into selecting a school, but those are factors outside of football.

Well, Chase Allen is from MO, so it would make sense that he may want to go to Mizzou now that he has an offer. I think it's wishful thinking to think that is a positive for UM re: Nauta. Georgia's new OC has at least used TEs in the past. And GA may not have had the TE talent in the past to use the position. They could use Nauta more. As great as Harbaugh has been with TEs, UM is not the only place you can succeed at the position, and there may be other things that make Nauta want to go to GA
December 20th, 2015 at 2:50 PM ^
Georgia doesn't struggle to get talent. They could've gotten elite TEs if they were so inclined to use them.
December 20th, 2015 at 4:53 PM ^
If it was just that easy to get elite TE (how many 5* have there been the last 10 years anyway?), then since UM is so inclined to use them, howcome Clark didnt come and Nauta hasn't already flipped?
December 20th, 2015 at 3:56 PM ^
Of course its wishful thinking!!! We are talking about recruiting aren't we? Is there any other kind of thinking in recruiting!?

I think some of these kids honestly don't know, and some just like to string it out.
If he has not been swayed by now by the differences in the international reputation of the degree, and the utilization of the TE in the offense, among many other factors, he's probably just stringing it out.
Best of luck to him, either way. He's a unique talent.
Luckily, I'm not at all concerned about weakness at TE for MI.
December 20th, 2015 at 2:25 PM ^
It could honestly be a head vs. heart decision. He could be stringing it along bc like most kids, it is the very first time in their life in which they had to make this type of decision...in reality, he will win either way...I just hope the NFL prep here exceeds his desire to stay close to home...

The Harbaugh graphic alone should be enough to convince him to come to Michigan. It's a thing of beauty and pure genius, whoever came up with it.

If he ends up going anywhere but Georgia. Would be sweet if he came here though.

Picking a top 3,5,seventyleven means nauta thing to me, and doesn't really do a lot for the player. It only feeds the media.
Now, just to be clear. If I was 18 and destined to be a top pick, I'd be stirring things up on a weekly basis, with a top 25, a new top 25, a top 10, 5, etc. I'd wear every jersey under the sun and think of other ways to entertain myself.
December 20th, 2015 at 2:42 PM ^
Honestly, nothing against Nauta but iIf one of the other tight end candidates wanted to commit today, I'd vote to take him and say so long to Nauta.
A bird in the hand...

Based on the leader but no commitment principal. We will find out soon I think.
December 20th, 2015 at 2:52 PM ^
I agree, and if Nauta was such a Georgia lock how come he was committed to FSU at one point?
December 20th, 2015 at 2:57 PM ^
Maybe we'll get lucky and this will be one of those situations that bite us in the ass a lot, but in reverse - he indicates in word and deed that Georgia is his favorite for months . . . but he never pulls the trigger. On NSD he picks us, a place that you did not hear him gush about all the time.

December 20th, 2015 at 3:00 PM ^
Got to be tough. This is where you really do feel for the decison some of these kids have to make. I cannot imagine truly loving a school and having family so close by, such as Georgia, but knowing the best place for me to go play is Michigan. Not saying this is for sure the case, but certainly is plausible.
