247Sports article: Buzz on Delance, Lavert and Jones

Wiltfong says he's close to putting n a Crystal Ball for Delance, but could do the same for LSU. Says Michigan still lead for Lavert and Jonathan Jones...but we've been hearing that for months. http://tinyurl.com/olokoh3 Buzz on Delance, Lavert and Jones

had better start worrying about his spot going to -------------- fill in the blank. I was wondering whether Olaf can name a recruit who will take his place that is higher ranked, who you feel real good about commiting instead of Hill, seeing as you just told him to shit or get off the pot.

You would be a great college recruiter.

"Shit or get off the pot, kid." Wow. The recruits will be coming to you in droves.

The kid has until early February to commit/sign at the earliest. He deserves all that time he wants to take. But hey, Olaf from MGoBlog wants you to make a life decision right now, so you'd better do it...

I'm assuming we only want to take 1 more DB in this class. Aren't we still in good shape to flip David Long Jr? Any word on him? How much of a need is Hill?

Yes, we have a bunch of QBs on the roster now.  It is possible that Harbaugh - who is fairly widely accepted as a QB guru - took a look at what we have and determined that several of them are just not that good and don't have what it takes to lead our team to a championship (sure, one or two might begood enough to start and manage a game, but I hope and expect that our HC is aiming higher).  For argument's sake, let's just say that this is his belief with respect to Malzone, Speight and Morris.  Then, we don't really have so many QBs on the roster that Harbaugh believes can get the job done.  We have O'Korn, Peters coming in and Gentry (who is widely viewed as a project, which means that he may work our or may not at QB).  If this is his belief, then I am all for taking another QB if necessary, as two or three of the names that I mentioned could transfer once they realize that they don't have a strong shot at getting the starting job.

Also, are you really worried about DB depth?  Harbaugh has been recruiting a number of guys who fall into the "athlete" designation.  These guys could end up anywhere from RB to WR to safety to CB.  I just don't see us having a shortage of quality DBs.

Yeah a bit odd that grown men hound these kids day and night for any little quote, so they can pass on info for profit to other grown men, and the kids are the problem in this equation. Lorenz is a good guy. His occupation is by nature a little seedy.

I don't know about that. If Corley was trying to push Hill to MSU he probably would've spent the weekend visiting with him. Instead Corley was at OSU. Msu might be left out in the cold on both of them. Hill to the Good Guys and Corley to osu.

Sam Webb went into it a couple of months ago. Wheatley has been working his ass off trying to "repair" the relationship at King. Someone told me the King coach was wearing an MSU lanyard during the state final game. Not surprised. With Harbaugh we don't need to restrict our focus to Wayne County.

Dude what the hell are you talking about? What high school coach in their right mind wouldn't push kids to an instate school that is playing for a national championship. Get your head out of your ass and stop saying stupid shit.

No one is playing for a national championship game yet (i.e. if they win they do not win the championship).  They are playing to be in the championship game.

And lots of coaches do not PUSH kids to any school, they realize that many have positive things to offer and try to help their kids understand their options rather than try to influence the kid's decision.

I am not whining about anything here because there are times that probably benefits Michigan but there are plenty of coaches "in their right mind" that take a more "hands off" approach.

22 commits and not any LBs among them when it is our biggest need, with early playing-time on the table. I think some things are brewing, and we'll be pleasantly surprised.

But just a little futher info. on Johnson, his ratings have improved since the Michigan offer and commitment.

First, Touch The Banner really liked him even back then, giving him a 77 rating, with Magnus saying he wouldn't be surprised if someone told him he was a four star.  Physical player with speed, good in coverage.

Beyond that, he went from unranked at Scout, ESPN, and 247 and a two star at Rivals, to a 3 star on all sites.  In fact 247 has him as the #25 ILB in the country.  That's just a few spots down from where they have Devin Bush Jr. (#18), and a guy we let walk away in David Reese (#21).   Good reason to be excited about this kid.
