Jabrill Injury Rumor?

Submitted by MGoSwilly on

TIFWIW- Friend of mine who is an alum just sent me a text saying that his relative treated Jabrill Peppers at an Ann Arbor hospital after he punched glass and tore a ligament in his arm/wrist. Apparently out for the bowl game. Still nothing being reported, but just thought I'd pass it along. Apparently he has been seen in a cast around campus.

This is a rumor on Penn State's 247 site. Has anyone heard anything about this?

Yes, and it's a serious crime. While I was employed at a local hospital in LA a worker at UCLA medical center was prosecuted successfully for accessing the medical records of celebrities that had received services at the hospital. If this is true this person should be fired and prosecuted.

It's probably just a rumor. Because someone employed by a hospital would have to be remarkably stupid to pass that info around. In LA I met several celebrities at the hospital I worked at (nothing salacious, I admitted for Labor & Delivery, various actresses or spouses of actors had kids) that I still have not told my wife about. You just don't do it.

since HITECH though, HIPAA has more teeth.

It's civil and criminal, depending.  If an employee of a covered entity knowingly breaches the privacy rule, the covered entity (hospital) is on the hook for the employee's actions.  The employee will have some disciplinary action since all hospital employees receive HIPAA training.

So the upshot of this report is that the psu 247 guy is more keyed in to what's happening with our players than the guys who actually cover Michigan - OR the M beat guys know and aren't saying anything until JH does?

I guess the Sam & Steve type guys might hold onto info until Coach says it's ok, but hard to believe the "journalists" would...

We'll see I guess... hope it's a lot of BS.

Fortunately there shouldn't be a huge need for him on D vs a stagnant O like Fla; but we sure might need his dynamism on O vs their very quick, solid D!!

The holding information comment brings to mind Brian's recent post on media access. The recruiting sites run a business model almost completely dependent on access to coaching staff/program. Just in the hypothetical scenario where the rumor is true, and Harbaugh made a cover story at bust for strategic reasons, then the recruiting sites would be wise to hold the information until given the go ahead by Harbaugh.

Information getting out ---> better Florida gameplan ----> Florida chance of winning increasing ----> pissed Harbaugh ----> less trust/access.

At least the cast has been confirmed by the Daily, it seems. Nothing about why though.

Talked to him in class, he got his cast off Tuesday. He had surgery soon after and he broke 3 fingers, dislocated a knuckle and tore a ligament in his index finger on his right hand. He said he won't be playing in the bowl game, unfortunately. Go Blue!

I definitely punched through a thing or two because of a women at that age as well. Better than punching the woman.

I also had one of my Basketball players tear a ligament in his index finger last year and he never got full control of it back after surgery (luckily it was his off hand). I hope Jabril's situation is less serious. He probably has a better surgeon.
