had Sparty 13, TCU 14, UM 15 so nice flip flop there. Had Iowa like 8 though so nice for them. OK State got jobbed a bit - had them at the 5 slot. TCU win (and it wasnt close) a lot better than anything Iowa has done.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:28 PM ^
I think the commitee is still waiting to see if TCU is real or not. OKST and TCU both still have weak SOS's and TCU doesn't have a quality win. It's possible that TCU goes 9-3 and that would not be an impressive then.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:45 PM ^
Yep could be.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:18 PM ^
#14. Not bad.
Sparty #13? hmmmmm...
The rankings shouldn't matter at this point, until the last week if we get to B1G championship. Hope we keep jumping.
Iowa #5??? That should help us if everything plays out the right way for the good guys.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:20 PM ^
Sparty #14 and Michigan #15, so I'll take it.
OSU can knock MSU off for us...we just have to keep winning.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:25 PM ^
November 10th, 2015 at 7:19 PM ^
Win out and you could beat the #3 and the #5 teams in the last 2 weeks of the season. That is HUGE! Look at OSU last year.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:24 PM ^
Iowa will jump into the top 4 (could be as high as 3 by then). So, then Michigan has a chance to knock of the #3 team, then follow up by beating another 3/4 team. No way Michigan doesn't get in, two losses or not.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:38 PM ^
I disagree...Iowa will start getting jumped unless the teams below them (mainly in the Big 12) all beat each other up.
But if Stanford wins out and beats ND...they'll jump Iowa.
Baylor wins out...they'll jump Iowa.
Iowa is more likely to be 6 than 4 because they don't play anyone while other teams have a chance for huge wins. They don't play anyone until the B1G Championship Game, assuming they get that far...by that time everyone else will have already played and won big matchups and Iowa will need that B1G Championship game to get into the playoff. Win that, and they'll have a late key win to jump the people who jumped them late in the year.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:19 PM ^
Sparty can kiss my ass.

November 10th, 2015 at 8:08 PM ^
Yum. Happy times.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:22 PM ^
Happy seeing the commitee looking falling under pressure from the Big 12.
Like it or not, Iowa's resume is more impressives than Baylor so far. Alot of these Big 12 are products of shit schedules. Atleast Iowa has played two power 5 conference teams (Iowa State and Pitt) While Baylor plays Rice and Lamar. You shouldn't be rewarded for destroying a FCS team, end of story.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:27 PM ^
Iowa St is not a quality non conference opponent.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:45 PM ^
It's way better than playing Lamar or Rice, plus it's a rivalry game for Iowa.
November 10th, 2015 at 8:26 PM ^
The Big 12 can't really make that argument because Iowa St is an average Big Twelve team.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:22 PM ^
November 10th, 2015 at 7:22 PM ^
Run the table the rest of the way and beat an undefeated #3 OSU and an undefeated #5 Iowa.
That dropped punt will haunt us. Still a NY6, but we'd need serious help to get into the playoff.
- LSU would have to lose again
- Notre Dame would have to lose again
- Baylor would need to beat TCU
- Bama over Florida in the SEC Championship (or FSU over Florida)
- Oklahoma would need to lose again
- Oklahoma St. would need to lose
- Utah would need to lose again
- Stanford would need to lose again
If all this happens...
Clemson, Bama, Baylor, Michigan
Much more likely is win out and you're in the NY6 Bowl, which in Harbaugh's first year...awesome. Just sucks that the punt would keep us out of being a 1 loss team in the Playoff. But Michigan vs. Stanford in the Rose Bowl would be AWESOME.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Possible losses for the teams we need to lose.
LSU: @ Ole Miss, vs. TAMU
Notre Dame: @ Stanford
Baylor over TCU
UF: FSU and (likely) Bama
Okla: vs. Baylor, vs. TCU, vs. Okie St.
Okie St.: vs. Baylor, Okla
Utah: @Arizona, vs. UCLA, Pac-12 Championship
Stanford: vs. Cal, vs. Oregon, (BEAT ND), Pac-12 Championship
November 10th, 2015 at 7:29 PM ^
We would probably jump LSU if both teams won out --- that said we need to root for Ole Miss and/or TAMU. We'd jump them because we'd be B1G champs.
Stanford HAS to be ND or we're pretty much done. Michigan fans should be locked into that one. The reason is, ND isn't likely to lose to anyone else on their schedule and they don't have a championship game to play.
If you're conceding Baylor in playoff (which I am), you want them to win out. You don't want TCU to beat them and then you have to jump 1-loss TCU with a strong win over Baylor AND 1-loss Baylor. Just put Baylor in and root for them to go undefeated and beat the Oklahoma teams. We should all be HUGE Baylor fans for the rest of the season.
Florida will lose, no way they beat FSU and Bama.
Okla and Okla St. need to lose to Baylor as I mentioned...then we just want the lower ranked team to beat the higher ranked team in the season finale and we want it to be ugly.
Utah and Stanford both have plenty of shots to lose...keep an eye on them. We need them both to lose, but Stanford is our best shot to knock ND off, so we want hem to lose a Pac 12 game.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:33 PM ^
playing Oregon this week. Home game for Stanford, but Oregon does have some talent to do something.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:41 PM ^
In fact, I think Oregon wins. That's why I made that schedule above...because the late games in the Pac 12 are going to be awesome to watch and see how it affects Michigan.
I have another one for you...don't be surprised if the fighting Rich Rod's knock off Utah on Saturday either.
The Pac 12 is LOADED with upset type teams. No one is elite, but they are littered with teams that can win on any given day. I'm not sure Stanford or Utah will make it the rest of the way without a Pac 12 loss.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:49 PM ^
Im not rooting against Stanford in that game. I want Stanford to rip apart Oregon to showcase MSU's win is still a fraud.
Then Stanford can beat ND
Thhen Utah can get upset
Then someone can beat stanford in the P12 championship game. (Utah or USC)
Yep thats the ticket.
I think Oregon is still fraud and its in Palo Alto.
November 10th, 2015 at 8:05 PM ^
But Michigan State's win over Oregon will be irrelevant when Ohio State runs train on them in two weeks.

Go DUCKS! (for this one game...then Stanford can win out)
November 10th, 2015 at 7:37 PM ^
But Mr. Yost, if Stanford beat ND, wouldn't that help us because Stanford lost to NU. Of course, Stanford can go on to win the PAC-12 championship. If Stanford beat ND and lose in their championship game, hopefully not against UTAH, then we can jump both ND and Stanford. The it will be the SEC champion, B1G champion, ACC champion and B12 champion.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:42 PM ^
We need that to happen, no question because Stanfords remaining schedule is much tougher than ND.
We want Stanford to beat ND and lose to someone else...like Oregon this weekend.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:43 PM ^
1 loss Stanford gets in over a 2 loss UM. If Utah has 2 losses and then beats Stanford in the PAC 12 Champ Game, then they probably still get in over us. So best case is that Stanford drops one to either Oregon or Cal and then beats ND and then wins the PAC 12.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:51 PM ^
No a 2 loss Utah team is not going to the playoffs.
Stanford can win out and then lose in the P12 championship game (getting their 2nd loss) to a 2 loss southern team and then the Pac 12 has all 2 loss or worse teams and will be shut out.
November 10th, 2015 at 10:45 PM ^
November 10th, 2015 at 7:30 PM ^
I really wish Florida had dropped that game last week, but I still think a 11-2 UM with wins over a hopefully 10-2 BYU and NW, OSU, and Iowa along with 2 top 25 losses AND conference championship would trump a 10-1 LSU with a sole top 25 win over Florida.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:32 PM ^
I think they lose to both FSU and Bama...so I don't think it'll matter much.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:54 PM ^
LSU wont be in a championship gamme and thus will be frozen out. LSU is a non factor to me from here on out - thats the bitch of being in the SEC West. They lose the head to head to Bama and Bama goes to the championship game. LSU sits at 11-1 and doesnt have a chance at a 13th game. They will get passed by conf championship winners the last weekend even if they are #5 or whatever going into the last weekend.
Thats like saying 11-1 MSU would go to the playoff if OSU went 12-0 (MSU's only loss being to OSU). They wouldnt be able to play in the conf championship game thus could not add to resume in the last week of the yr. LSU is the equivalent of that.

South Carolina is bound to win a close game. 4th quarter turnovers have killed them so far. And they owe us for 2006.
November 10th, 2015 at 11:07 PM ^
I don't think Florida matters at all if they drop the SEC championship game to Bama. I'll give opponents their most reasonable records and UF's best wins are over 9-3 Georgia, 9-3 FSU, 8-4 Ole Miss and 8-4 Tennessee. They'll have losses to 10-1 LSU and 12-1 Bama. UM's best wins are over 12-1 Iowa, 11-1 OSU, 10-2 NW and 10-2 BYU with losses to 11-2 Utah and 10-2 MSU. With a conference title, our resume looks clearly better than UF's.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:42 PM ^
While we were very unlucky to lose the MSU game, we were also pretty lucky to not lose to minnesota. So I think we probably sit at 2 losses pretty fairly all things considered.

I'm not saying minnesota deserved to win that game, but it is undeniable that we are fortunate to not have lost it given the last couple plays. I agree that we were unlucky to have the breaks go against us that got us to that point in the first place, but we could have very easily lost that game if they managed a couple plays better at the end or got an extra half yard on the throw that set it up.

LSU doesn't have a QB and Arkansas can put up points. Throw in a little hangover effect from the Bama game with a 3PM start time in Baton Rouge, and Bielema may do us a favor this weekend.
November 10th, 2015 at 10:57 PM ^
Even if ND doesn't lose again, I can still see a way in for us. Stanford drops the game against ND but beats Utah in the Pac 12 championship game. Okie St beats Baylor and loses to OU, OU beats TCU but loses to Baylor, TCU over Baylor. OU, TCU and Baylor have 2 losses each and Okie St has 1.
If we win out we could have wins over teams with 12, 11, 10, and 10 wins. With a 11-2 record, 4 quality wins (I'll definite it as teams with 9+ wins) and a conference title, our main competition would be 11-1 Okie St(conference champ), 10-1 LSU, 11-1 OSU, 11-2 Stanford(conference champ) and 12-1 Iowa, with 2, 2, 1, 2 and 2(or 3) quality wins respectively. I think we would have a strong enough resume to beat them all and get in at #4.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:27 PM ^
I think Minnesota will beat Iowa. Don't know why, I just think so

I'm watching that game this weekend...they also could easily lose @Nebraska.
I don't think they go undefeated even though we want them to be undefeated as long as we keep winning.
A loss to OSU and we'd want them to lose to Nebraska and then lose to OSU to improve our bowl position.
But right now, we need OSU and Iowa to win out until we play them as we win out...

If clemson ends up 1 and ND ends up four im giving up on the playoff. they already played! Why the fuck should they get another shot.
November 10th, 2015 at 7:35 PM ^
because it should be about who the top 4 teams are, not what is a good matchup or who has played before.
