From what I saw on the game friday, they seemed to think Michigan was the best bet to land Gary and the TE. Recruiting might be fun going down the stretch for a change.

But anyway, I'm sure Michigan has a great shot to land him. He'd be a great pickup, and if we managed to snag Gary as well, our DL would be downright dominant within a year or two.

A&M just picked up a 5* DT this week, hence they're no longer in the running.

Nice pick up. How much does a 5* DT go for these days in the SEC?

With all the louisville crap and Jalen's comments it is amazing how well M does to get the guys they do, especially when combined with the academic standards (ND too as much as it pains me to say).
Makes me appreciate Jabrill even more. Not just him, but can you imagine the offers he must have gotten? low six figures easy.

For all the complaints about recruits just paying lip service to academics, it's a factor for a lot of the players we do get. There are a lot of good players to go around. We don't have to be competitive for all of them.

However, for some of the 5 stars that may not be as academically inclined the money plus the higher standards might be tough to overcome.

They did? Whom? Rivals lists A&M's most recent commit as a wide receiver on October 5th.

Keep it rolling!
What do all the National Champions over the last 20 years have in common?
Dominant DL play.
Can't get there without it. It's why teams like OSU have 2 NCs since 2000, while trendy flashy Oregon has none.

Gary and one of Daniels or Elliott would be pret-ty, prety-ty good.

Eh, depends on which lower ranked kids you're referring to. Some of those lower ranked kids are ones that Harbaugh and Co got to see up close and personal through the satellite camps. I think it's hard to go against their word. A guy like Dytarious Johnson may not be highly ranked, but he's very athletic and is just the type of athletic LB you like when going up against spread teams. And Sean McKeon isn't highly thought of by the recruiting sites but he is gonna be a very good receiving TE in a Harbaugh offense. The guys in the class that I am not "high" on are Davis and Reese. But that's because I think you can find effective FB from walk on pools and from those already on your roster. But I'm also not a high major college coach.

FWIW, the staff supposedly thinks Weaver is a top-five defensive end in this class.

It's probably because none of the predictors have chosen Michigan yet.
