So How Will You Handle the Sparty's You Meet This Week?

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

This week most of us will encounter sparty types in our work place, at the kids' practices and games, etc.  Do you have any rabid spartys you'll be dealing with?  How will you handle them?   We've got some spartys at our office, but only one is rabid and he's still pretty much a gentleman about it.  He and I do have a wager on how many victories Michigan will get this year, and he said Michigan won't get 7 - looks like a poor choice on his part.

Who will you encounter this week and how what're you going to say to them?  Are you a smack talker, more quiet, or somewhere in between.

Great game today.  Turning into a phenomenol season.  Oh boy, in one week we could really be off to the races.  Go blue.

...yet, the powers that be only seem to hire from western and central Michigan.  So there are more Spartys employed than people from A2.  Most of them, however, don't appear to be football fans.   The one that is, has gotten hugely preferential treatment even though he basically doesn't do anything.  He couldn't get a job in E. Lansing, where he lives.  Still, he has nothing but scorn for Ann Arbor, where he drives every day to work.   Last year, he was smugness personnified about his team.  I don't really plan to say much to him during the week, and if we kick their ass like I hope we will... won't say much then either.

I can't wait! It's the truth. Bring it, Staee. We're going to own them a week from today. Edit: and oh, just wait until you see Peppers on offense. It's coming, Sparty.

Well all I work with is "Spartisans."

And whilst they have had their dark days of revelrous debauchery, the end approaches for them and their filthy hoards.

I plan to be still and defer to their maniacal ravings of superiority for a short while longer.

Then, when the sun of Michigan Football tradition pierces their skies of gloom next Saturday, I shall rise up to crush them in their despair.

Or perhaps I will just say good game and await the defeat of OSU before I gloat.

By the way I have been drinking heavily.

With the utmost respect.  Northwestern is clearly overrated, as is BYU & everyone else that Michigan has played.  Michigan's time is over and Sparty is clearly the class of college football.   I would also say it with the biggest grin on my face.

A bigger question to me is if Rutgers beats Sparty, who is ranked higher tomorrow and how much would Michigan be favored?

The thing is, as long as they beat Rutgers the situation will be this: If we beat them, it's obviously bad for them. But if they somehow beat us, that was simply expected. So they're really in a no-win situation. And at some point Dantonio is going to need to explain the Harbaugh factor to his players and pay it credence. "Guys, uh ... things are different this year."

Holding my fire, but remembering everything my loud-mouth Sparty friends have said.  Then on Saturday night have I'll have a big smile whilst I begineth a year-long campaign of retribution.

I think any but the most irrational Sparty fan knows what's probably going to happen next Saturday. They can barely beat Purdue, their defining win now looks like utter trash, and they might lose to Rutgers tonight.

They know.

My gf goes to MSU and when I drive to her dorm to pick her up, I look at all those kids walking around and I think, "at one time, everyone of these kids had that Ralph Wiggum moment where they exclaimed, 'I'm going to Bovine University!'"

My best buddy (MSU alumnus) and I (UM alumnus) always go to blows throughout this week. Subtle jabs tend to escalate quickly. Should be interesting this week considering I have a little more ammo than years prior.

We are already in their heads.

The fear is almost palpable.

Show them what it means to act like you been there before...;)

I work with a shit ton of em. They were complete asshats after Utah, but with each passing week, they have been saying less and less. As of Friday, they were extremely concerned. Can't wait until Monday when I see them in full paranoia. I usually keep my mouth shut, but if we win next Saturday, let's just say, I will clown those fools like no other.

Wait until they start complaining that THIS year should have been their home game...

Maybe Dantonio should have his team plant a tent stake into the turf or something.

They're struggling to beat Rutgers, it's tied 24-24  late in the 4th.

MSU's offensive line can't protect Cook, and Rutgers is running the ball on them.

MSU has been moving the ball via acrobatic catches thrown at the last second by an under pressure QB.

The more of this game I watch, the more I like what I see.

MSU is vulnerable and no way are they #4 in the nation.

I always try to play it low key. To me you can compete and win with class, even against a bitter rival. And I'm a 42 year old pudgy guy. I'd look a little lame acting all hard.

Most of the Sparties I work with are all good guys too.

The ones that have pi$$ed me off the past 8 years who have been dick$? Well, my talking smack isn't going to make any difference one way or the other. If we win it won't make them feel worse. If we lose, they'll have less ammunition.

In the end, I just want to see our team go out there and level some righteous hits against Sparty. And I'd love to see Dantonio leave the game with a sour look on his face, and the thought in the back of his mind 'Oh. There's the threat.'

Gotta just lie in weeds I think.. er..um
Honestly. I hope we skull f*ck those sh*tbags and their dbag coach next week on national television.
I wouldn't mind them grabbing Connor Cooks face mask and twisting it like they did to Denards a few years back. Sparty got it common' yo...

It's always better to proceed with humility and resist the urge to turn into the type of fan bases most people cannot stand

The Wolverine …

I deal with them 24/7...since I live in Lansing, my stepson is a rabid cocky fan, my group of Michigan fans deal with some of the worst MSU fans ever. I came back from the game against NW last night (by the way there was a Sparty sitting near us at the game in full Sparty gear) to go out for a drink with my wife to a dive bar in Lansing to watch them play Rutgers. My Sparty friends who were down at that moment when we arrived started running their mouths to me, I told them run your mouth if you beat is next week...you guys can't even blow out the bottom feeders in the B1G. The other fans there were acting like rabid fans screaming and acting fools anytime they had a positive play and shout out stuff about Michigan. I go to the store minding my own business and I pretty much get into it with asshole Sparty fans all the time.....they are the worst fan base I've ever encountered and I've lived in NC and NJ close to Philly before. Sparty can kiss my ass!

them and tell them how great it is for the Big Ten that they are on top of their game. Then in a condescending way I tell them that their brief stint in the drivers seat has forced the big boys to step back up and play like they are supposed to.. I then wish them well in the future. They hate it..... absolutely hate it when you look on their recent success as a speed bump on the road of life.
