I love this. The first and the standard. MJ saw and opening and next year in the college football playoffs he'll look like a genius. Everyone will want to be jump man and recruits are already going nuts over this.

that there's over 350 posts on this thread. I don't care that much, but I do think it's kinda weird. Like something a true basketball school would make their football team do; like State.

I think this is great for Michigan. Its definitely a great marketing tool, and will catch a few recruits eyes. You are kidding yourself if you think it wont. Oregon gets some kids they problem wouldn't if not for the snazzy uniforms. Being the first, being connected to Nike/Jumpman = win win.

Seriously.  I admit it looks a bit weird in a way, but it makes you stand out.  Even though he has some personal issues, those are mostly ignored and when folks thinking of MJ, they think of Best Ever and Unwilling to Lose.  I think it is a great association for you.

I'm partisan when I want to be but for stuff like this I really try to look at this objectively and I honestly think it is a good thing.  I head local radio guys talking about us getting gear with a LeBron style crown. I would dislike that for a couple reason.  Looks like we are copying and we are copying with a lesser product.

Not to start an LJ vs MJ thread, but at this point in time one is clearly greater than the other and the window is fast approching if not already here where that can't change.  I'd rather have Jupman than a crown, though I would probably be happiest with sticking with the swoosh.

I remember when Nike first outfitted the team in the 1990s, and people were upset because the swoosh was going to sully our uniform. They got over it, as evidenced by the fact that some here are losing their shit because the swoosh won't be making its return.

Jordan is known for basketball yeah but is more of a brand now. They been making golf shoes, football shoes, and baseball shoes for years now. Yeah a jordan symbol on a football uniform will be different but kids love Jordan and it will help with recruiting for both football and basketball.

I like that we're moving forward with the times. Can't stay stuck in the 1990's forever. I'll trust that Harbaugh approved this and follow with optimism.

Do not like it the basketball logo on a football jersey.  If the swoosh is no good and a unique logo is required the Nike braintrust should draw up a new football logo.  Like Desmond doing the Heisman pose.

Is it preposterous to think that Jordan and his team would develop a football logo for the Jordan "Jumpman" brand. Instead of it being a basketball player maybe a football player version of it

I just noticed that people negged the hell out of my comments in this thread which alluded to the provision in our Nike contract which states that the basketball team will be provided Jumpman brand gear INSTEAD OF (and not in addition to) Nike, and that Nike offering Jumpman to Michigan's football or other non-basketball teams is predicated upon Nike offering Jumpman to its other schools' non-basketball teams. Here's the provision for you non-believers:

Since it's hard to read unless you click the link, here's what it says: "NIKE shall outfit the men's and women's basketball programs with Jordan (instead of NIKE) Brand footwear and apparel for the entire Term. At UofM's request, NIKE shall supply other Covered Teams with Jordan Brand footwear and apparel to the extent NIKE does so at other NIKE-sponsored universities."
