Exeunt Dennis Norfleet Comment Count

For a time he danced.

But he will not return.

As previously reported, Norfleet is gone-gone. Despite him telling his former teammates he'll miss them on Instagram and every insider-y thing saying it was already a foregone conclusion, some of us held out hope for as long as it took the coaches to say it was official. Michigan posting a fall roster without him on it was more confirmation. Tuskegee publishing a roster with him on it means it's time to give up the ghost.

Michigan enters fall camp with 2 or 3 open scholarships for this year, depending on whether you count the long snapper. Norfleet would not have affected next year's numbers.

I am sad.

norfleet STUNK...i don't get why the mods on this site love him so much. he may have been the all time kick returner by total yards, but nowhere near the top in average return yards. plus he never housed ONE.

The final line on Norfleet:  94 returns for 2,203 yards, becoming the program's all-time leading kickoff returner, and hauled in 15 passes for 111 yards last season- 0 touchdowns...... ever.    When you set the record for most return yards, that only means the other team kicked off to you- alot.  If he had been Michigan's all-time punt return leader (see Steve Breaston), then we might be looking at something different.

CAREER STATS RECEIVING RUSHING
SEASON REC YDS AVG LNG TD ATT YDS AVG LNG TD
2014 15 111 7.4 24 0 9 64 7.1 21 0
2013 6 46 7.7 15 0 4 53 13.3 38 0
2012 0 0 0 0 0 2 13 6.5 14 0

Unfortunately Michigan will not benefit from his skills anymore.  Sad.

Best of luck to Dennis Norfleet forever.

Or how about you ease up on the pretentious use of language?  I soon as I read that (incorrectly used) latin word I just KNEW this post wasn't written by Brian.  Thankfully, that is not his style.

If there is one thing I think this staff has not handled well, it is Northfleet. They humiliated him by throwing him out to play DB in the spring game. Who knows what happened behind the scenes, but this could have been done better.

From my vantage point, he cared more about dancing in the spotlight than winning games - another example of a kid that came in with a lot of hype under Hoke, and either didn't develop himself to his full potential or wasn't in the right environment to do so (or both).

It's been interesting to me thus far that Harbaugh's attitude has been to challenge guys at every turn to earn their spot on the roster, and it seems that some haven't taken kindly to the culture change.

If we're going to embrace Michigan tradition (The Team, The Team, The Team) then we shouldn't be sad when the guy who likes to dance in the spotlight moves on to greener pastures.

My two cents.

I wholeheartedly agree. Color me none too impressed with norfleet's book of work. For weeks I've seen people on here praise his game and returning ability. Sorry, and maybe I'm crotchety before my time, I don't think he produced shit on the football field. Go watch a Steve Breaston tape if you want to see production. On a personal note, I wish the kid well. In terms of football, sorry, but I for one will not miss him. Yes, I'm a douche
