MBB - Wisconsin Game Open Thread (BTT)
fuck wisconsin fuck these stupid ass horshit refs I hope wisconsin loses in the first round of the ncaa tournament and never wins again
That was indeed a charge, but Dackich is right. No way it gets called.
Fired? They will get raises. No way the Big Ten lets its top team lose on Friday in the BTT and lose a #1 seed.

"So it's ok to let Mich. take a FT" - Bo Ryan
Game is over and you know you cant win at least you might as well let the refs know they sucked today.
Sure it's been an off year for the team, but theys guys have some serious promise. The Beilein Effect should do wonders for them.
We will be probably 3rd or 4th best in conference.
Wisconsin, Sparty, Ohio, Maryland then probably Michigan
I don't know where will we finish, but all of the teams you mention will suffer significant losses.
Wiscy--Kaminsky, Dekker, Gasser and Jackson
MSU--Dawkins, Trice and Costello
OSU (who we smacked)--Russell/90% of the offense, Scott and space-filler Williams
Maryland--Wells, probably Layman and, of course, the great Smotrych
Purdue might be the team returning the best roster.

Costello is not a SR.
you are right. It must just seem so. I made the same mistake about Settles and Hummel for 5-6 years or however long they seemed to play in the B10.
MSU has had a charmed season. They are playing to the max of their ability. They will be solid at the 2-5 positions next year, but with nothing great. If they don't gel or someone gets hurt etc, it could be a rough go.
Maryland is one of the oldest teams in the conference and lose something like half their roster to graduation. And then who knows about the draft.
Wisconsin loses potential NPOY and also Gasser, and who knows what might happen with Sam Dekker given he's projected to be in the same draft vicinity as Caris. Wisconsin is always a tough team, but this year was kind of the culmination of a lot of positives and even then Michigan held up with them both times they met.
MSU loses both Dawson and Trice to graduation, and while they have a decent recruiting class coming in it's not like Izzo is known for masterfully using young guys. Same with OSU - they would have probably not made the tournament without Russell, and hitting a homerun twice in a row with freshmen is tough.
I don't think Michigan is assured of being the best in the conference, but its not like all of the other programs are set up for long-term success.
That technical... Were the refs trying to highlight how terrible they were? Are they trying to get fired? Haha nah that wouldn't happen. But they're rubbing it in our faces.
should at least try one free throw.
The non-charge call did not come because of Beilein's BS technical, it came so that the stat sheet would look less suspicous not getting any free-throws all game.

The B1G is working hard on securing a #1 seed. What total BS!

I've never seen a player look so lost all of the time ever!.... Doyle. Offensively and defensively he's always all over the place. He's never on his man. He creates unnecessary traffic and has the hands of a baby goat. I didn't think Horford leaving would be THAT huge of a loss, I may have been very wrong. Not a huge difference in the stats but he has the experience needed to help this team be a little better on both sides of the ball.
Next year will be a much much better year. Let's Go Blue. Way to hang in there though!
Doyle will be fantastic and people overrate Horford laughably around here. Horford is weak and generally useless.
Doyle will be a beast.
Oh, and your statement about his defense is inaccurate. He generally held up against Wisconsin's near tops in the nation front line. He hedges and tries to recover as all our big men have been instructed to do.
I don't think you understand what you're watching.
season, lol.
But if you watch him, there's so much useless movement and general ineffectiveness.
I've watched him all year and he's been very very bad.
is where Doyle's skill and play today lies. He did some nice things, but had 1 total rebound. One. That's not adequate. Another year stronger and faster though...
Wis. rebounded roughly half of the shots they missed, meanwhile Mich. rebounded 12% of their misses.Nearly impossible to win that way.Mich shot 51% and had only 5 turnovers, rebounding is clearly the achilles heal of this team.A legit big man is all we need to be a top 10 team.
Them's hard to come by.
No refs arent stupid and they know if they "balance out" the calls with a bunch of meaningless fouls late in a game the box score will look far different than the actual game flow.
But in this case it's putting lipstick on a pig. 2 FTs vs 16 and 13 fouls vs 5, especially when one team is widely known as a non-fouling finese team and the other plays a brusing, physical style of basketball speaks for itself.
B1G tourny with B1G refs gets what B1G wants. And the B1G definitely WANTS Wisconsin to at least make the finals of this thing so they have a legitimate shot at a #1 seed. They are trying to help ther own here.

totally transparent and totally ridiculous.
Look at what Beilein was able to put together with a team ravaged by injuries and NBA departures. He plays a bunch of unheralded freshmen and molds them into a very formidable team that can play with anyone. They never rolled over, and they stood toe-to-toe with the best team in the conference.
This year wasn't up to standards, but think about all the guys who got a ton of experience and went through the ringer. That experience will serve them well next year. Guys like Dawkins and MAAR answered the bell and then some. Chatman came along towards the end of the year. Irvin further morphed into the player we thought he'd be. Doyle will continue to get better. Albrecht will keep being Albrecht And this isn't even including Walton, as well as a potential return by LeVert.
Size and rebounding could still be an issue next year, but the team will be that much better.
The game was there to be HAD.
You have to grab the damn ball and secure it!
