Hackett = Professional

Submitted by Black Socks on

Hackett did a very good job with the presser.  He has a completely different tone than Brandon.  Now I don't know if he's the guy long term, but I have more confidence in him now.

Thoughts?

Stop getting yourself/trying to get other people all riled up about Harbaugh being an inevitability.

No one knows. Jim probably doesn't even know.

I don't think he's coming and I don't want to see people flipping the fuck out when what was apparent to me all along suddenly becomes reality.

What "negativity?" My opinion that Harbaugh not coming is "negative?" OK.

I think that there are a lot of great candidates out there that I like (Malzahn, Mullen, Sumlin, Smart, etc..) but just because I don't think we're getting Harbaugh I'm negative? OK.

Me, the guy with the reputation for being a Hoke/Borges apologist and a Rich Rod apologist for being too positive about those guys and the players? OK.

to strike, and he did it perfectly. You don't want to say it's a stupid phrase, cause it originated with Bo, but it's also clear it's come to mean something stupid (must be from Michigan to coach Michigan).  So let's call the next coach something else...like..

JIM HARBAUGH!!!!!!

:)

Interesting that Hackett also said that candidates might be currently employed by "organizations and institutions." Not just "institutions."

The NFL is an "organization." So I think we can safely conclude with 100 percent certainty that Jim Harbaugh is in the bag.

I liked how he hinted at the fact that they're targeting multiple candidates and they have a timeline for each of them. Hopefully that's sincere and they are seriously looking at many candidates and aren't just debating between Harbaugh and Miles.

I think that to some degree, it was a misused term - However, Hackett had a theme- There are two aspects to success at Michgan - Values and Success. Hoke knocked it out of the park in terms of values, IMO. He wasn't consistently successful at the level that Michigan requires. But I think that given his taking on this super hard job, and earning the respect and love of his players over his tenure, I think a fair number of them might call Hoke their hero.

I believe that's what Hackett meant by that, and from that perspective, I don't have a problem with it.

I am not a terribly politically correct person but as a woman, I love his response about the world not just being men in regard to the Michigan Man thing. Minor but awesome point.

Finally someone in that position who isn't obsessed with incest.  We need to stop trying to find people we are familiar with and start finding the best.  We produce "Michigan Men"...we don't need to hire them.

Michigan is still going to hired someone that still have Michigan Ties and being the Michigan Man, coaching search is just basically Jim Harbaugh, John Harbaugh and Les Miles. Who else out there that michigan will hired that doesnt have ties to michigan or being a Michigan Man.

That had that shot with RR and blew it in his face.  Come on there no way there going to find somenone out that does not have michigan ties. I just saying.

Best ever?

That's a pretty powerful statement.

I can think of a few Mr Robinson's Neighborhood which made me laugh so hard, no sound came out.  Or Dan Akryod's dangerous Christmas gifts.  Or Dennis Miller's penis skit.

For me, best ever is MORE COWBELL!!!

Pass the Courvoisier please.

Didn't come across as a guy that wants to be the university's star. He is just here to do a good job as a steward of something he loves and will treat others with respect and dignity whether the performance exceeds or fails to meet expectations.

I think that this is exactly what you want in a permanent AD.  I don't pretend to know whether he really would be more qualified then some of the other permanent AD names thrown around here, but I like him.

You want an AD that will stand behind the curtain so to speak and let the coaches and teams represent the school in good light.

I starting clapping when he said he wanted to get rid of the term Michigan Man.

He should have just dropped the mic at the end.

I was really impressed with Hackett, but it was more because he wasn't just show. He definitely appears to be someone who takes the time and uses deep thought before making a big decision. I like his comment about swim lanes... It shows that he is very organized and deliberate with his processes also.
