The Game, The Game, The Game

Submitted by shswhit51 on

Well, its my last day of teaching before thanksgiving break and thusly, before The Game.  A tradition in my american history class is to show the documentary The Rivalry which goes back through the history of this rivalry.  I'm watching this, and I'm looking at the young Michigan fans here in my NW ohio classrooms who still, despite the jeers and ridiculue, still wear their maize and blue while I too have my Nike number 7 maize and blue jersey on.  I like watching this documentary because it reminds me of the greatness of this game.  How even on bad years our boys can still pull one out to play spoiler to the enemy.

This is a downturn for Michigan.  But this isn't the first in our storied history.  Anything is possible this Saturday.  So let's cut the woe is me crap and rally behind our team and our coach one last time.

I hate Ohio State.  But more importanly I love michigan

Go blue

And unless one of the following move I don't see us ever getting one. Indy, Detroit, Cleveland, Cincy and Pittsburgh are all within 3 hours. I Think Columbus could support a team if one of them moved, but I don't see it happening. However, it isn't just townies (cityies?). The guys I confronted were students. Greeks (not the ones the Turks hate, though they would probably hate them too, the ones the rest of the university hates) and I think we have to count them as students. I do think it is interesting that the fan bases have reacted differently to the downturns in the rivalry. I think a lot of it has to do with you guys ruining good to great seasons, where we have mostly beaten inferior Michigan teams. So the loss to OSU, while a depressing way to end the regular season is not the heartbreaking loss it was for us.

I guess I've just become depressed about our football program over this season. I will watch only for the players. I hope they play hard and we can keep it close. But odds are we will finish the season at 5-7 with no bowl game.

No matter what the record is, no matter how bad either team is, I still get excited for The Game. Living in Ohio most of my buddies are buckeye fans, so this week is pretty fun talking smack back and forth. Watch a few hype videos and try to enjoy the last Michigan game for ten more months.

have disintegrated and it's really sad (to me). i've stopped caring about this game. we haven't been competitive since i've been a big fan. now, the game i care about most is the msu game--because all my high school buddies went there, and we're 1-infinity against them since my freshman year at uofm.

This is the least excited I've even been for the game. I may not even watch, as I'm taking the in-laws to the airport at the same time.

Insanity it is said, is doing the Same things expecting different results. Given hoke's lackluster performances on the road, it's hard to get excited about insanity. Here's to hoke breaking the cycle. Cheers

I really wish they had Muschamped Brady after the Maryland game so that the players could have a "win one for coach!" attitude and the fans could know that the nightmare was over.

This season is over for me. I have mentally checked out. As Brian mentioned on the podcast, I don't have the nervous excitement for the games lately. That's when you know it's bad. I'm looking forward to the coaching search, which I hope is done as soon as it's possible. What I don't want is for it to drag out for an extended period and therefore further longing this crappy season. UM needs a huge boost of excitement and hope.

Hoke can redeem all respectability as someone who loves this football program if

1. he beats Ohio State

2. he resigns after the bowl game

3. Harbaugh reveals in his first press conference as the new coach that Brady Hoke called him up and pleaded with him to be the next coach of the Michigan football team.

Actually, #3 will be enough.

I'll be watching The Game, cheering for Michigan to pull off the upset, but I'm also not expecting a win.  This Offense just hasn't shown that it can put up enough points, or look like anything other than a dumpster fire.  This is the least excited I have been about The Game in awhile, and that pisses me off.  I would be overjoyed if a miracle happened, and this team somehow managed to string together 4 quarters of competent football against OSU.  Even IF the upset were to happen, Brady still needs to be let go.

For God's sake this is "The Game". So many here wrote team 134 off last year and said they wouldn't bother watching. Yeah Michigan lost, but the game was worth watching. Rivalries are strange things and this is a game where either team can win no matter the record. Both teams have won big upsets in the past. Sure the odds are against a win, but they have to play the game.

I'm not going to catagorize anyone's fandom, but I will say that if you can write off this contest you don't understand this rivalry as I do. I want this win for the players. Guys who never quit through one of the tougher seasons in recent memory, deserve to beat Ohio. They haven't quit and I'm not going to quite on them.

Go Blue! Beat those guys in their own house.

MICHIGAN needs to MAN UP and win this fucking game.  Fuck Ohio

Funchess: Catch the god damn ball already.  Fuck man!

DG:  Check your contact lenses; pass to the open man and when you run; run the fuck out of yourself.

Please, please play Drake Johnson more.

D: You guys are tight.  watch the deep throw down the MIDDLE

GO BLUE & WIN!

Seriously even if he beat Ohio St., why could that save your job when you got blanked by ND, dominated by Utah, lost to Rutgers, ran over by Minn with a concussions QB, manhandled by MSU, and Maryland came in on senior day and beat him. I feel that no matter what there's no chance for him to be back. We all know Michigan doesn't want to go through another year of Alumni, students or fans disgruntled. Beat the F#ckeyes!

No shit.  Hoke should WIN & I would still fire him on the field after the game.  No biggee.  He's a man.

Hey, we all like Hoke.  He's a nice guy.  BEAT OHIO.  But you are still going to get fired.  Sorry.

Let's WIN, celebrate, and celebrate that you are getting fired.  It's OK.  Life goes on....

He will still be a friend of the program and a former coach.  No problem.

Go OUT with a BIG WIN.

GO BLUE!!!!

MAN UP!
