Just a quick thanks
Just remember when Michigan doesn't play as well as they could there are bigger things in life. Enjoy the season and thanks again.

But all I wanted to say is thank you. I didn't do a very good job of that.

My father, and his father both served in the air force. My grandmother worked on air force bases her entire life, as well, as a nurse.
My father, I believe was a 'blip' guy in a b52 (I think it was a b52, if it wasn't it was a plane like it).
Glad you weren't offended. I negged myself, for the record, mainly because it was potentially offensive but also because it was wasn't even funny.

(edit: it makes more sense the next day. Funny how that works).

country that I posted three times.
I'd do much more than that, if I could.

Yes, this was a perfect time for a gay joke. Way to go.
September 10th, 2014 at 3:20 AM ^
Let us say thanks to you. The service that you have given to this country is what allows all of us shallow ass holes to bitch about how bad our team is.
September 10th, 2014 at 3:22 AM ^
Thank you for your service and for a well-timed dose of perspective. Get home safe and enjoy your family.

Welcome home. And welcome back to the real problems of the world such as our recruits not panning out, our coaching staff seemingly not preparing said recruits, and 31-0 defeats on NBC primetime!
Just being funny. Thanks for your service. Things aren't great in regards to the football team we cohesively cheer on but I'm quite sure you're glad to be back to it all (we're glad you're back safely), and honestly, we should all be glad we have the opportunity to even fret about the above matters.

I will say this ... I plan on going up to Ann Arbor (from Dayton) here in the next couple weeks to catch a game regardless of how suck things get ... Once you see the real life suck, college suck doesn't matter too much.
Thanks for the appreciation, it is much appreciated.

Wait ... there are bigger things in life than Michigan football? Surely you jest!
(Insert obligatory "Airplane" joke here)
And with all sincerity, Welcome Home - and thanks to you and every man and woman wearing our nation's uniform. To all of you who made the choice to serve our country, God Bless - and Go Blue!

I appreciate your service to our country. Thanks for reminding everyone to put this fandom thing into perspective. Hopefully you can see some Michigan wins in person this season.

No need to thank the blog, as others have mentioned. I often joke offline about modding being sort of like being on the front line, but I remind myself sometimes that braver people than me actually are there.
Instead, let me say thanks for your service to this nation and hopefully you are already on your home from Baltimore to reconnect with your family again.

Maybe it's not TSA, I don't remember, but I declared having Cuban cigars on my return and they didn't give a hoot. I guess that would Customs, eh? Can't recall having much trouble with TSA, either.
September 10th, 2014 at 11:14 AM ^
The TSA was very thorough in 2008 and 2009. They don't want you coming home with any war trophies.
We will have our stuff searched before we get off the ship by customs when get back from this deployment.

Welcome home brother. Take a break for a little while. Grab a beeer and enjoy the fall weather.
Oh, I made the mistake of staying up to follow via gamecast/the live blog. Pulled an all nighter then put in the hours the next day. Connection is way too slow for streaming. Still have to appreciate the live blog.

Nice to come home and with a fresh perspective. I did a few deployments in my day as well and I can certainly appreciate your words and your view following what seems to be a tragedy in the football world. It all comes down to some basic things in life and I thank you for reminding us what is really important.
