OT- Tigers and Jays still tied going into 16th inning

Submitted by MGoBender on

In the bottom of the 15th, the Tigers intentionally walked both Melky Cabrera and Jose Bautista to load the bases with two outs.  They got out of it thanks to a ground ball induced by McCoy.

Now the Tigers are the beneficiaries of a IBB after 1 out singles from Kinsler and Cabrera.

This feels like one of those losses you read about in the postmortem of a failed season, where they talk about the moment things went off the rails. I normally dismiss thoughts like that, but it's really felt at times like Ausmus doesn't have control of this team's direction. It just sucks that the last two games so perfectly encapsulate what has been wrong the last couple years and what was supposed to be fixed this offseason: relief pitching, and "manufacturing" runs.

Even though I'm a life long tigers fans, I kind of like following  KC who only has a fraction of the pay roll Detroit has! KC will win this division. They have a no name solid team with good pitching and a half decent bullpen. Since I live close by KC, I don't mind if they win. Detroit is just an over paid team with a manager who is not experienced to manage the big leagues yet.

Besides the Red Wings of 2008, i can't remember a time that Michigan football/bball/hockey/Tigers/Pistons/Red Wings/lions won a championship. I kind of remember the Pistons but I was only 9.

We can't complain nearly as much as some places (lol Cleveland - '02 Buckeyes and...?), though we're certainly not as spoiled as others, either. I was alive but too young to remember the Roar of '84. I can remember but wasn't quite old enough to appreciate Michigan's '89 NCAA Championship, along with the Bad Boys' repeat at the same time. June 1997 - June 1998 is still, to date, the best sports year of my life: Michigan Natties in football and hockey, sandwiched between two Red Wing Stanley Cups. There have been a few glorious years since, but we're long overdue for another one like that!

The Tigers are 36-40 in their last 76 games. This is not a championship team. The offense is too inconsistent (I am well aware of where they rank) on a game-to-game basis and the bullpen is awful. This team will be very fortunate to win the Central and somewhat fortunate to even get one of the wild cards.

Every time they show Brad Ausmus during the games, he has Gene Lamont attached to his hip.  I understand that is the way that they want it...but clearly Ausmus is in over his head and one wonders who is really managing the team?
