Borges was horrible when it came to schemes, calling plays, and setting up plays for later in the game. Even if nuss is marginally better in those areas it'll be great, not mention running a faster tempo, more simplistic Off scheme.

Also quit with the crab pants bitching. Being so negative in early august is annoying as fuck

Well we had the worst o-line in all of college football last year and in a 3 minute video we see a defender get loose and have the opportunity to destroy Gardner. I'm not sure what's not honest about that particular clip not inspiring confidence.

Was it designed that way by Nuss? Maybe. I grant you that but then again maybe it wasn't and speaks to the fact that the o-line hasn't improved at all. I'm in no position to speak to which one it truly is, but if I had to guess...seeing as this is a hype video, I'd guess the later given last year's performance. Could I be wrong? Absolutely. It just wasn't something I was thrilled aeeing

maybe watch some three-minute "hype videos" of teams you deem elite and see if you can spot any flaws on their respective third days of practice. surely, you'll find something discouraging, even in the world beaters of college football. this exercise could give you some perspective about our team going forward. otherwise, these dogs'll be on your ass like it's got sausage links trailing from it...

I was hoping that you would be intelligent enough to pick up this on your own, but you obviously aren't so here it goes. They are just reporting today for team meetings. Fall practices have not even started. These are clips from the spring, which would be one of the first few practices with a new coach and playbook. How about you wait to troll until you see some updated practice footage.

Looked good to me! Like Coach Hoke, he seems like a teacher. I didn't see him cursing or demeaning anyone. He will help our team improve and in the end, our team will be grateful he was touch. Love it!

reminds me a lot of my JV baseball coach who I regard as the best coach I ever played for.  Both are not afraid to get on your ass a little bit especially when you are having trouble doing what was asked, but the pointed statements were never ever personal attacks nor were demeaning.  They were just about fundamentals and technique and calling on you, the player, directly, to do the job better.

I also like the "80% throw".  That makes a lot of sense to me thinking of golf swings and just the approach to the game using numbers.  Its much more exacting than "throw it softer".

Nuss is going to need some aloe for the throat, LOL.  I think this was spring practice most likely.  I am betting that Shane Morris is going to emerge as quite a polished QB next season with all this drilling...and I would be happy to have him as a standby backup in case DG were to get injured.

The offense is gonna be much improved I can swear to it. As a guy that has played football at every level except the NFL I have went through a coaching change very similar to this one. My junior year of high school going into senior year my sre defense coordinator got let go, I played at a school where football was extremely important. The problem with the old DC was that his scheme was way way too complex for us to get a solid grasp on. We had talent all over the field. 3 guys on that team went d1 with a couple of others going to low level college football too. When we got our new DC he simplified things a lot. We went from being last in the league when in pads used given up all the way up to second.. very shy from first. And the run D went from middle of the pack to first. The new guy was just a better teacher and everything. We returned every body on D also except an outside LB. The improvents are gonna be big I'd say after speaking from personal experience. In college I went back to playing for a guy who had an extremely complex system.. he was a better teacher so I had a better grasp on it but i still had some ups and downs as a freshman. It'll be intresting to see how they play this year, I left the team to take care of my boy. Point is that teaching and simpler schemes will have a huge effect on the team. Keepp in mind I had a crazy complex scheme on the Defensive side of the ball. For Michigan it was the O line which is the hardest position to learn in football maybe aside from the qb and the scheme they had was complex and not simple.. I can only imagine the issues they had. With simpler stuff being installed and not as many plays it's gonna pay off huge.

Looks like our QBs are in good hands. But Nuss's true worth will be determined by what he can do to repair our offensive line. If he can make it at least average, then we've got ourselves a keeper.

Based on track record Nuss is a good QB coach.  The OC part is obviously more difficult to tell just because we don't know what he wants to be - I am sure Saban micromanaged the hell out of him.  On offense IMO we have 1 excellent position coach in Heck (he seems to take guys to their full potential whatever that potential may be) and 2 guys who are more questionable in Funk and Jackson; of course their 2 jobs go hand in hand.  But it's been a while since we've really seen a RB "develop" - I don't know if Mike Hart straight off the bus being the bomb can be credited to Jackson and since then its been a long string of meh.  But we've always had great OL coaching pre RR era so I hope Funk is a victim of circumstance.  It worries me a guy straight out of HS is looking as polished as guys under Funk for 2 years.

He seems very demanding and I can tell that he holds guys accountable. This thing can get real good real fast. Fall camp starts today and we're only 4 weeks away from App. St.

Nuss is intense and instills a sense of urgency that the program needs desperately. Sure, it's only a practice video, but if it represents the lessons that are being drilled into the players' heads every day, there is reason to be hopeful.

See the negative in the guy who left and the positive in the one who takes over. That being said I've loved watching Coach Nuss since I seeing him coach in the Spring Game. The dude was workng hard to teach as much as he could every second. He seems to me like the hardest working on-field coach I can remember. We really have gone total opposite here from mad scientist scheme guy to a guy that's all about proper technique and fundamentals. This is going to be just what our running game needed. DG will be twice as effective a QB with some actual production from the RB's. We really haven't had that for a minute...

1. Nussmeier passes the eye and ear test for what your looking for in a young exuberant coach. His intensity and attention to detail is noticeable. 2. I worry that he will be targeted very quickly for a head coach position. His pedigree and his personality suggest that he will not be anyone's OC for very long. I hope he is at Michigan for a very long time but i think it's pretty apparent that he is going to be a commodity if he finds success in the next few years in Ann Arbor.

At FSU we did this with Jimbo and it has paid extraordinary dividends. Hoke is not that old though so it would be hard pressed to "HC in waiting" Nussmeier. I'm really excited to see what he brings to the table this year. I think he will hold these young men accountable to the standard of the uniform. If that happens we may find our selves in the first college football playoff because there is nobody on the schedule that is a "mismatch". Go Blue!

Exactly what I've been saying since he was hired.  At his initial introduction press conference he talked a good bit about wanting to be a head coach.  With his current resume and a turn around for the Michigan offense I think it's safe to say that he will be getting offers to leave at the end of next year.  I don't think the HC in waiting will work with Nuss bc Hoke is still young and it's his dream job and Nuss knows that.  I do hope we can keep him for at least 2 seasons because I would hate to have to transition again to another new OC.

Sparty has been able to keep Naduzzi through multiple HC offers by bumping his pay. They wont keep him forever but 8 yrs is still pretty good. If we could keep Nuss for 3 that would be terrific. Its tough when you change coordinators too frequently.

Great video ... it got me even more excited about the season.

The snippet that caught my eye was his coaching Morris on getting elevation on his pass to get over the linebacker, not through him.

Him coaching on the sideline will be huge for the offense. They will feed off his energy, and he will make sure they dont come out flat like they did way too often last year.
