What was the crowd chanting in the 4th quarter?
November 17th, 2019 at 12:56 AM ^
I was wondering this also.
November 17th, 2019 at 1:03 AM ^
Students were chanting “Little brother”
November 17th, 2019 at 5:24 AM ^
Mike Hart is very pleased with this chant.
November 17th, 2019 at 8:43 AM ^
Every nut hugging Sparty/Mark Daytona apologist on the MGoBPONE would have been irate about it even a year ago.
Now that Harbaugh made Michigan the bully with Sparty non issue.

Dude! You cut your hair? Oh woe the mullet!
(just in case, I'm aware EYB's profile pic is not actually him)

My wife didn't like the 70s porn look
November 17th, 2019 at 9:41 AM ^
It was a back and forth.
Little--->
<-----Brother
November 17th, 2019 at 1:07 AM ^
Sounded like Little Brother on the radio
November 17th, 2019 at 1:10 AM ^
Students were chanting little brother. Just like sometimes happens with go blue chants, half the students were saying little, and then pointing to the other half to say brother. This repeating several times and was glorious.
I really believe not only the team, but the entire fanbase has leaned into the MSU rivalry. They wanted us to take them serious, and they got it.
November 17th, 2019 at 4:45 AM ^
The 2017 game was a wake up call. I remember several members of the team in tears after that game, while Sparty was celebrating like they just got off parole on the field. A few months later Dantonio said some dickish thing about beating Michigan, and Harbaugh and the boys haven't looked back. 2-0 outscored them 65-17 since.
Can't wait to get these fools on the basketball court and see what Howard cooks up for them. Idk if we're good enough to hang with them on the court yet this year, but there's no way a team coached by a Fab Five member and hitherto coached by Beilein sleepwalks into that game.
November 17th, 2019 at 7:02 AM ^
I actually felt the opposite. This felt more like we didn’t need to take the team seriously anymore.
November 17th, 2019 at 8:28 AM ^
I don’t think that was the case at all. We were getting pushed around pretty good in the first quarter. That MSU touchdown really woke Michigan up. That had an alarmingly similar feel to ‘17 for about an hour yesterday. That was when Michigan started taking it seriously.
November 17th, 2019 at 9:04 AM ^
Pushed around seems a little strong bruh.
M didn’t finish drives and generally scuffled. Sparty has a nice short field after the 4th down miss.
November 17th, 2019 at 9:57 AM ^
I just thought State came out of the gate pretty strong. To say that Michigan won that game without “taking it seriously” would not seem accurate.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:46 AM ^
I don’t think it was that they weren’t taking it seriously...I think it was they were taking it TOO seriously. As in, nerves got the better of them, and MSU pounced on the brief opportunity. But once they settled in it was lights out.
November 17th, 2019 at 11:24 PM ^
Not really. the only thing that stopped UM drives in the first quarter were the refs missing obvious PI penalties.
November 17th, 2019 at 3:41 PM ^
I had always thought this . . . the best thing that ever happened to you, Sparty, is that we don't take you seriously. Woe to you if we were to take you half as seriously as you take us.
They got their wish, and it was not pretty.
November 17th, 2019 at 1:19 AM ^
Dueling LITTLE BROTHER chants. because of the stadium acoustics they weren't synced up.
November 17th, 2019 at 3:42 AM ^
Sound travels slower than light. But for the sake of argument let's call it "stadium acoustics."

Not sure if it was caught on TV, but there was some more towel tossing after Tarik's penalty and after DPJ's fumble on the punt return. Not as crazy as ND, but it seemed like some students were trying to make it a trend to throw towels onto the field.
November 17th, 2019 at 5:37 AM ^
They should have never gotten rid of the marshmallows.
November 17th, 2019 at 6:48 AM ^
Big crackdown on marshmallows when we switched to field turf. Michigan didn’t want melted marshmallows in the hot games. Probably not great to clean up in any weather.
November 17th, 2019 at 7:23 AM ^
Getting hit with a marshmallow filled with pennies wasn't fun either. It was fun trying to toss them at the camera man over the marshmallow shield, though.
Pizza boxes were a little dangerous, too.
November 17th, 2019 at 7:47 AM ^
there's a funny story about that... that was actually a PR stunt to get people to stop throwing marshmallows... people were actually putting batteries inside them.
The Athletic Department didnt want to publicly acknowledge how dumb some of our fans were being so they had Lloyd make an announcement, giving a different reason.
Kornheiser then proceeded to call Lloyd a moron, because he smelled bullshit i guess, and Lloyd said "gee thanks" to the PR department in not the nicest words.
November 17th, 2019 at 11:03 AM ^
Lol, that’s great. Never heard that.
November 17th, 2019 at 8:16 AM ^
I sort of miss the beach balls being batted around the stands.
November 17th, 2019 at 8:45 AM ^
There were a couple being batted around yesterday.
November 17th, 2019 at 8:54 AM ^
Beach ball was out in the first quarter. I hate the beach balls being tossed while the game is still in doubt. Should be reserved for victory cigar time.
November 17th, 2019 at 2:55 AM ^
I noticed announcers are regularly calling them little brother now
November 17th, 2019 at 6:08 AM ^
I know! It's like the media wants to keep fanning the flames. They reported one of the players changing it to 'Little Sister'; what's next 'Little Whores'?
November 17th, 2019 at 7:25 AM ^
No, I think Little Convicts is fitting. And that might be the name of Mork's next special teams fake play as well.
November 17th, 2019 at 7:53 AM ^
Little red-headed step brother.
November 17th, 2019 at 9:34 AM ^
November 17th, 2019 at 9:59 AM ^
Lil’ ‘roiders.
November 17th, 2019 at 11:08 AM ^
um, please no.
the whole little sister thing, invented by the brightest of the bright up at MSU, is sexist and stupid.
little brother is perfect, no need to invent something new
November 17th, 2019 at 8:14 AM ^
Maybe that's what Bachie was doing; he was just tired of being called "little" brother. I can picture it now, Bachie in the gym, jamming a syringe in his ass, tear rolling down his cheek; "They'll never call me 'little' again..."
November 17th, 2019 at 2:57 AM ^
It looked like DPJ was starting to strike the Paul Bunyan pose after his TD again, but Fox cut to Harbuagh celebrating.
November 17th, 2019 at 3:16 AM ^
Yes he did. And the ref in the endzone got a little excited and told him not to do that, or something similar.
November 17th, 2019 at 7:45 AM ^
Speaking of little excited...I am surprised that Tarik Black was called for doing a double flex after his nice catch. He wasn't taunting and multiple players were flexing in various forms on offense and defense after they would make a play and not get flagged.
November 17th, 2019 at 8:05 AM ^
I thought it was a ridiculous call. There was no taunt and restricting amateur athletes from expressing themselves after a big play in a big game was way to restrictive. The Ref that made the unsportsmanlike call on TB should understand the kids playing are the reason he is getting paid.
November 17th, 2019 at 8:32 AM ^
I thought that it was an unnecessary call for a minute, but things were getting REALLY chippy. That game was kind of on the brink for a while in the third quarter. There were a couple of times on both sidelines when players got pushed out that I thought an all out melee was very much a possibility.
November 17th, 2019 at 8:57 AM ^
For many years, unsportsmanlike calls have been inconsistent. I remember back when Tom Brady was playing, he threw a 40 yard bomb to David Terrell against Wisconsin. After making the catch, Terrell looked at the crowd and put his hands on his hips for barely one second and he was flagged 15 yards for unsportsmanlike.
Peoples-Jones 70 yard TD catch last year against Sparty, he struck the Paul Bunyan pose with the hands in his hips and didn't get flagged.
The refs desperately wanted to keep this from getting too out of hand, which I get. But come on.
November 17th, 2019 at 9:21 AM ^
They aren't inconsistent at all. It's only a personal foul if you celebrate with the ball instead of tossing it or handing it to the official. If Tarik would have tossed the ball first then he could have flexed his little heart out. All the players know this rule, apparently Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt do not.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:57 AM ^
Players do the first down sign with the ball all the time tough. Not sure why “flexing” would be different.
November 17th, 2019 at 6:13 PM ^
The Refs are like the TSA, they don't want you to know what the actual rules are so that you'll be afraid to try anything.
November 17th, 2019 at 5:22 AM ^
That pissed me off .... I wanted to see the pose. Fox sucks.
November 17th, 2019 at 6:09 AM ^
What I want to see is after we kick their asses next year the whole team lines up midfield and does it, ah-hahaha!
