My buddy talked to Mrs. Fisch and she said she wanted Jedd to take a job in a place with better weather. She hated the Michigan weather. He’s not coming back.

I took Patterson coming back as a hint that a change at OC is coming whether it’s Jedd or someone else we’ll see.  Just my opinion.

You sure about that? There have been plenty of teams that have beaten OSU the past few years.

Doesn't mean I want their OCs to come here. I’m just saying that I don’t understand the slob-knobbing this board has for Jedd Fisch. He was decent to good here, but he wasn’t great. And he certainly wasn’t good enough to beat OSU.

What if Jedd sucks though? I mean, it’s entirely possible he isn’t much better than we have. I think he may be, but I also remember people wondering why UM hired him in the first place.

BoMo basically explains it: Harbaugh doesn't want to get a dynamite OC that runs the whole offense. He wants to be heavily involved. It's his offense.

Michigan was never going to make a run for Kliff Kingsbury, for example. That's a guy you hire to take over everything (including stuff that is currently the neighborhood of Ed Warinner, whom I would like to keep around). It's possible that Harbaugh someday decides to make that transition, as Brian Kelly apparently has, but he hasn't done this yet. It's still his offense.

Which means that he's the one to hold accountable for it.

I agree with you completely that it is JH's offense.

However, I think this year he showed he wants to incorporate more spread concepts. There were more screens and read options.   I think an OC with more familiarity in those concepts would be helpful. I worry they are trying to sprinkle in concepts that aren't their bread and butter and that is why sometimes it just looks awkward.

I watched the same game everyone else did.  Our defense looked like a scout team d in a practice vs the #1’s.  They could not stop anything seriously I have to ask what game were you all watching. They gave up over 60 points.  The team this year or the offense was never built to carry a game it was built to constantly pound you and get you tired and take over I’m the 4th quarter.  It worked because the other defense was on the field the whole game.  You can’t play that way when your defense is giving up 7 points every series.

This is becoming a "Han shot first" kind of issue which is hilarious.  But it really is no debate.  The offense didn't do a damn thing unless OSU dropped the ball on the 10 yard line or they were so far ahead their defense didn't care anymore.

Totally cool if he comes back and coaches WR. I don’t think he’s an upgrade at OC because there’s little to no evidence of that and it’s Harbaugh’s offense at the end of the day. We threw the ball on early downs more than people think. I don’t like that a decent amount of our passing plays are slow developing and our RZ offense stalled late in the year. Those are my complaints and that Pep is not a big time recruiter. Jedd is an okay recruiter so maybe that tips the scales in his favor but the people acting like he would be a massive improvement are fooling themselves

Jedd is not a panacea. Based on the comments of multiple past and present assistants, the offense runs through Harbaugh. All offensive assistants work to implement Harbaugh's scheme and Harbaugh's philosophy. Barring some kind of sudden shift in mindset, Harbaugh isn't going to hire a true offensive coordinator and hand him the reins. That's just not going to happen.
