Bowl Season Eve POSBANG

Submitted by Hotel Putingrad on December 14th, 2018 at 7:31 AM

If you're like me, you're probably knee-deep in holiday concerts, parties and recitals right about now. But starting tomorrow, we resume our regularly scheduled programming with the New Mexico Bowl (and four others.) In the interim...

At least it’s a work from home Friday, which is nice...supposed to hit 45 degrees two days in a row this weekend so I’ll be calling Boulder to see if they’re open for golf.  Bang!

It is more of a "sigh" time for many of us older codgers who grew up with the glory and pageantry-not to mention the importance of the Cotton, Sugar, Orange and Rose Bowl games. That the NCAA has not figured out how to enhance post season play while retaining all the splendor is pretty non-sensical. We get to watch (or decide not to) Alabama go for its 12th NC in the past 9 years...how exciting!!! I love sports and watching the athletic endeavor play out but not making the top teams run more of a gauntlet to an NC  is disappointing. Either do something to level the playing field here or make the "big boys" win 3 or 4 in a row against a national schedule at the end of the year.

Level the playing field: Use the current recruiting evaluation system to cap the total value a team can accumulate. Currently, per 247, Alabama is #1 at 304 with a large group of 5***** still lining up for them. OSU, Notre Dame and Michigan are bunched at #9,10 and 11 at 255. So, cap this thing at 300 and spread that talent out among at least the 15 top programs...and make "Alabama" do more than simply over-run the competition with physical talent. This thing has gotten increasingly out of hand...and, truthfully, it serves no one well.

Yes. Players won't flock there if they can make money off their own name and stand to get more playing time at other schools with strong alumni support. You are talking about taking things as inconsistent as stars and capping the total a school can recruit. What you'll get is the school's paying the recruiting services to under rate the prospects that they like. Better to let the schools take more chances on players that have potential (likewise, you reduce scholarship limits and schools like bama get stronger because they'll have better odds of getting excellent players from the pool of talent they will have).

After touring the facilities and having dinner with Matt Dudek, I have officially decided to spend the next four to five years in Ann Arbor. GO BLUE!

I will be a PidWO* and hope to show up on Special Teams, even though Mr. Dudek kept mentioning Event Team (must be terminology dealing with the new kickoff rules). I would like to thank Coach Herbert and Coach McDaniels who I met back during my summer visits.

Bang Me! and it's great to be a Michigan Wolverine!

I'm still apathetic towards football, though I certainly will watch Michigan's game against UF (again...).  Tonight I'll watch some (most?) of NDSU-SDSU in the Div 2 playoff.  Real playoff games are fun!

Bang bang everything! This weekend will be a lot of prepping for a series of interviews next week for a pretty significant promotion with my current firm. Totally came out of the blue but is an exciting opportunity and would be an awesome way to roll into the new year. Go blue!

Since it’s been determined by today’s players that these games are all exhibitions, I will not be watching any of them.

Kind of sucks because it just means more reruns of American Pickers & Shark Tank to fill the void.
