Particularly since we beat northwestern.
December 1st, 2018 at 1:46 PM ^
Head to head may not matter as much in a situation where 4 teams are being compared.
But Michigan doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs, and I'll bet OSU ends up in after handing Northwestern their asses tonight.
December 1st, 2018 at 1:21 PM ^
This is ridiculous. OU needs to pick it up. They are playing their way right out of the playoff.
December 1st, 2018 at 1:21 PM ^
Stop the nonsense
December 1st, 2018 at 1:31 PM ^
I could only root for that if Ohio State played first. Since they're the last game of the day, I have to root for Oklahoma, Georgia, Clemson, and UCF.
December 1st, 2018 at 1:56 PM ^
Yeah, I also wanted OSU to play before Oklahoma to help me better decide my rooting interest.
December 1st, 2018 at 1:35 PM ^
What bowl does Michigan get if osu loses to northwestern?
December 1st, 2018 at 3:38 PM ^
The analyses I've seen say if OSU goes to the Rose Bowl then we go to the Fiesta or Peach. That tells me that in your scenario NW goes to the Rose and OSU goes to either the Fiesta or Peach with us going to the other.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:29 PM ^
Can 3 teams from the same conference play in New Years 6 bowl games?
December 2nd, 2018 at 12:13 AM ^
Well, last year #5 OSU was in the Cotton Bowl, #6 Wisconsin played in the Orange Bowl and #9 PSU was in the Fiesta Bowl. None of those bowls have conference tie-ins so they can mostly do what they want except the best G5 team gets in one of them if it's ranked high enough. (This year the Fiesta would have to take them.)
December 4th, 2018 at 8:05 PM ^
Update: This year #1 Alabama (Orange Bowl), #5 Georgia (Sugar Bowl), #10 Florida (Peach Bowl) and #11 LSU (Fiesta Bowl) are all in NY6 Bowl games.
December 1st, 2018 at 1:39 PM ^
Not gona happen, idk why even discussed
December 1st, 2018 at 1:43 PM ^
Mental masturbation like this will only leave you empty and dissatisfied, and sporting hairy palms.
December 1st, 2018 at 1:46 PM ^
I feel the same way I have the other 3 times someone posted these stupid scenarios.
December 1st, 2018 at 1:54 PM ^
Michigan plays Washington in 2020-2021. And we all know how Michigan does out west. I'd rather just play LSU or Florida.
December 1st, 2018 at 2:52 PM ^
I’d be interested in playing LSU, but not Florida. Third time in four years we’d be playing them. Just want something new. I also think it would be a very welcome matchup for our defense to play a sluggish pro style offense after getting boat raced by a high powered spread team.
December 1st, 2018 at 1:54 PM ^
Stop this bullshit. Please. It's been discussed so many times. Here is a synopsis. We don't deserve it .The end
December 1st, 2018 at 2:00 PM ^
Even if Oklahoma, OSU and/or Clemson lost today, they’d still go before Michigan. Same or better records, head to head and championship game appearances.
December 1st, 2018 at 2:14 PM ^
It just some desperate homers hoping for some things to happen that wouldn't even be fair or right.
Imagine if Michigan had blown out OSU and then lost to NW in the Big 10 Championship game. Most of us would feel that we should still stay ahead of OSU in the final playoff rankings.
We would be saying. "We finished with a better record and we totally destroyed them on the field."
Case closed.
December 1st, 2018 at 2:04 PM ^
Some of you would rather not go to the playoff?
RU fucking kidding me?
It becomes obvious who has never played a sport with some of these comments. Unbelievable.
December 1st, 2018 at 2:37 PM ^
Sure. .To get embarrassed on national TV again. The fuck outta here with this Uncle Rico
December 1st, 2018 at 2:42 PM ^
Well, most Michigan fans would want the team to go to the playoff. Though it's about accepting when the team doesn't deserve to be in the playoff and it being wrong and unfair if they were included.
There's just no scenario that rightfully places Michigan ahead of OSU in the final playoff rankings.
Sometimes people have to realize when their opinions are unjust and wrongfully bias, but it's often difficult for some people to do it.
December 1st, 2018 at 2:10 PM ^
NO!!!!!!!!
December 1st, 2018 at 2:27 PM ^
I don’t it’s not happening. There will be no upsets today the teams that are favored will all cover, and Michigan will go to the #overrated bowl and get their ass kicked.
December 1st, 2018 at 2:39 PM ^
Stop with the fantasies.
Even if all that happened, we wouldn’t get in.
December 1st, 2018 at 2:42 PM ^
Ohio State would have 2 losses (like UM) and a blowout win over them.
Not going to happen.
December 1st, 2018 at 2:47 PM ^
I don’t know. Almost don’t care. The BPONE is strong in me ever since last Saturday.
Wouldn't at all surprise me to see OSU sneak in, shock the world again by beating Bama, and then knocking off Clemson by double digits to win it all. And then we show up flat in Pasadena and lose yet another big game on national television.
December 1st, 2018 at 2:59 PM ^
"And then we show up flat in Pasadena and lose yet another big game on national television."
Showing up flat in Pasadena is a long Michigan tradition that isn't affected by what Ohio State does.
December 1st, 2018 at 2:50 PM ^
go Oklahoma. Keep the scumbag out of the playoff.
December 1st, 2018 at 2:55 PM ^
December 1st, 2018 at 3:01 PM ^
Michigan won't make it in regardless if this happens. Especially since IF this happens, the loser probably wouldn't have been blown out.
The last thing EVERYBODY saw of Michigan was getting waxed by a relatively bad OSU team. Michigan ain't getting in not matter what.
Let's hope for a NY6 against a good opponent.
December 1st, 2018 at 3:05 PM ^
I am rooting for Michigan to make the playoffs. Despite being upset about not playing well last week, we can still beat anyone in the country and win the national championship, if the ball bounces right. It baffles me that “fans” would be too scared to play in the playoffs. What is the point of the season, if you don’t want to play for a chance to win it all?
Think about how down on the team some fans were at certain points of the basketball season last year? That team made it to the national championship. I’m glad some of the people on this site are not Michigan coaches.
We will have the best resume of any two loss team if Northwestwen, Texas, and Alabama win today. Only having lost to two top 6 teams, both on the road. I hope we get in and get a chance to win it all.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:02 PM ^
Jesus dude. I respect the faith, but Michigan was clearly the worse team against OSU and ND. I don't think destroying PSU shows they can best anybody in the country.
Just regroup and come back stronger. Also, you can't compare football to basketball. Two totally different sports. There's a reason why Bama wins every title and teams like Duke and Kentucky don't win it all the time.
December 1st, 2018 at 3:13 PM ^
Texas isn't beating Oklahoma for one..
December 1st, 2018 at 3:19 PM ^
Its unpopular I’m sure, but let Ohio State in. Go ahead. I wanna play in the Rose Bowl and watch Ohio State get licked by Bama. It’s a total win-win. I would feel a lot better about the season if it finished in the Granddaddy than if it’s was another ho hum win over Florida in a southern bowl game.
December 1st, 2018 at 3:47 PM ^
Barring a miracle, Oklahoma is eliminating any chaos that would put Michigan into the CFP.
December 1st, 2018 at 3:56 PM ^
Go parlay that. Then retire. But it won't happen
December 1st, 2018 at 4:08 PM ^
Can you say Outback Bowl ?
December 1st, 2018 at 6:33 PM ^
That’s not possible. We’re going to a NY 6
December 1st, 2018 at 4:53 PM ^
Well, we're certainly not backing into them given the early results, and I wouldn't necessarily want to do so anyway. Call me strange, but I'd rather earn my shot to get obliterated by Alabama outright.
December 1st, 2018 at 6:20 PM ^
Disingenuous if we back in
we don’t deserve to go this year, we had our chance and blew it
we need to win our bowl game and come back strong next year
