B1G East Division Co-Champions
Unfortunately, it's just co. But Michigan did win their first division championship in program history.
With both Michigan and OSU at 8-1, both are declared East Division Champions with the tiebreaker obviously going the way it did. This is per the B1G rules. Their website had a release up after we beat Indiana that stated we clinched at least a share of the title.
B1G record books have a table of division titles as well.
Michigan will receive a B1G East Division trophy for its accomplishment.
Yes, what happened was very VERY disappointing last weekend, but look at the whole body of work this season.
Is this all that different from 2000 when Michigan, Purdue and Northwestern all tied for the Big Ten title? Michigan lost to both and gave up a ton of points and lost the Rose Bowl tiebreaker to Purdue.
Jack Harbaugh even had some words to say about the title on The Harbaugh Podcast, saying a banner should be put up.
And before OSU trolls laugh, well..........they celebrated theirs in 2015 so hard they made t-shirts for it:
We're finally on the board with a division title and let's use it as a stepping stone to an OUTRIGHT Division Championship in 2019. Go Blue
November 27th, 2018 at 3:41 PM ^
Right next to Ohio States
We're co-divisional champs!
...but lost by 29 to the 3rd place team in the worst division in college football" t-shirt
November 27th, 2018 at 3:50 PM ^
I don’t think they’ll sell Ohio co-divisional shirts since they’ll have B1G Championship shirts, like Michigan would have if not for the pants-shitting on Saturday.
November 27th, 2018 at 4:25 PM ^
But it was ok to celebrate your co NC in '97? I'm confused.
November 27th, 2018 at 3:32 PM ^
I know its kind of something, but it gives me the feeling of just a participation trophy . Maybe in a few years it will be something to hang our hats on...
November 27th, 2018 at 3:32 PM ^
Michigan will receive a B1G East Division trophy for its accomplishment.
Who knew that was even a thing?
It should be shaped like a juice box with orange slices around it.
November 27th, 2018 at 3:41 PM ^
Co-Champions of the East doesn't sound as nice as Champions of the West
November 27th, 2018 at 3:43 PM ^
No freaking way do we celebrate a co-championship of a division that should not even exist if not for Jim Delany's stupidity, after getting blown out by Ohio State. If MSU celebrated such a ridiculous "accomplishment" we would rightly mock them into oblivion.
November 27th, 2018 at 3:45 PM ^
I know the student athletes are disappointed about Saturday’s lost as the fans are.
I always laugh at the comments when people who sit in the stands or on the couch down play the student athletes achievements.
From winter conditioning, spring ball, fall camp and a long grueling season plus going to classs. They should be proud of their 2018 season.
November 27th, 2018 at 3:48 PM ^
Found it.
November 27th, 2018 at 4:08 PM ^
For a fanbase that has seen 3 losing seasons in the last decade, you'd think people would be able to understand the difference between participating in a conference and winning all but one game on the road against a top ten team
November 27th, 2018 at 3:49 PM ^
Yeah when I think of 2018 I will think of being co-Champs instead of the curb stomping 62 put up by Darth Vader. They probably kept it at 62 because 69 implies Michigan at least derived some pleasure out of it. 62 means you are blowing me while I'm plowing your ass (something only gymnasts know about).
November 27th, 2018 at 3:53 PM ^
I knew there was a reason Urban took a knee instead of putting up another, nearly uncontested TD with 2 minutes left in the game!
November 27th, 2018 at 5:24 PM ^
Urban Crier only goes go his knees when Tebow is in town or his team is playing like dog shit and he has to pretend for the cameras that he is might just die in that moment - cause... ya know... he has an illness (that is to be confirmed).
November 27th, 2018 at 3:51 PM ^
At least we're not looking up at Moo U again!
November 27th, 2018 at 3:54 PM ^
We need to throw that thing in the Huron. Let it float to the Detroit River, through the Great Lakes, into the Atlantic, and into the belly of a whale that shits it out to the bottom of the ocean.
November 27th, 2018 at 3:58 PM ^
for the love of God no
November 27th, 2018 at 4:00 PM ^
Do people criticizing this realize most of UM’s Big Ten titles are shared?
This is an accomplishment. Maybe not satisfying, but an accomplishment.
The program is progressing. Maybe not as fast as we want, but it is getting back to what we are accustomed to.
November 27th, 2018 at 5:41 PM ^
This isn't a Big Ten co-title. This is a Big Ten EAST co-title. Please. I agree that the program is progressing, but fuck some bullshit consolation prize. Go to Indy, win that game and celebrate a real title.
November 27th, 2018 at 4:00 PM ^
Well it is something. Yes osu happened....but....
Michigan beat a ranked opponent on the road.
Michigan won with gameday there.
Michigan beat three ranked opponents in a row.
Harbaugh and Michigan finished above third in the division.
Lots of monkeys off the back this year.
10-2 with a good bowl game ahead is a good season for having the third toughest schedule in football. Most people figured 8-4 maybe 9-3 tops. Did Michigan win the division or big ten? Nope. But they are trending up and accomplished a lot!
I myself do not want a co-division champion trophy. Win the whole damn thing! Next year....please.
November 27th, 2018 at 4:11 PM ^
Most preseason predictions were predicated on Wisconsin and MSU not being the terrible teams they turned out to be though.
November 27th, 2018 at 4:39 PM ^
But if Michigan does not beat them they are not as terrible now are they? Can’t help that Michigan dominated them and gave them losses.
November 27th, 2018 at 4:00 PM ^
If we're being technical they were undefeated within the division we were not so again we lose.
November 27th, 2018 at 4:06 PM ^
Delete this bullshit
November 27th, 2018 at 5:43 PM ^
Agreed. Our hearts are beating as one. No more love on the run.
November 27th, 2018 at 4:06 PM ^
I'm sorry, but the real division champion trophy is to play in Lucas Oil. This is a technicality.
November 27th, 2018 at 4:21 PM ^
Only a complete idiot would care about this and count it
November 27th, 2018 at 4:22 PM ^
I agree. OSU should never count a co championship after getting beat by 29 points to a MAC level team.
November 27th, 2018 at 4:41 PM ^
We could have Michigan shirts made that say...no team has a winning record against us in the Big Ten. Can OSU wear shirts like that?
November 27th, 2018 at 5:20 PM ^
Check back in about 9 years. They might if we don't come up with some answers..
November 27th, 2018 at 5:32 PM ^
We can always pray for sanctions against them. Them vacating wins may be about our only hope.
November 27th, 2018 at 5:58 PM ^
I’m sure the OSU fans were saying the same thing when the series was 56-36-6. Teams have runs time to time. Michigan beat OSU 9 times in a row at one point. Michigan won the 10 year war after OSU was dominating a few seasons before that. It will turn people.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:08 PM ^
"Michigan won the 10 year war..."
We won it by going 5-4-1 over that span. Hardly a rout.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:27 PM ^
Did Michigan win it? And that was after osu was kicking ass and only the nfl teams could beat them.
November 27th, 2018 at 4:42 PM ^
*waves tiniest of flags vigorously*
November 27th, 2018 at 4:51 PM ^
They can keep it......I don't want it unless its outright....
November 27th, 2018 at 5:11 PM ^
Season after season its the same tired, hollow hope:
"Just wait till next year!"
"Leaders and best!"
"Who's got it better than us!?" (probly my favorite)
"Revenge Tou...err..."
Y'all are so fucking pathetic - and I love it. Buckeye fans LOVE it. Between trying to change divisions, firing your savior coach, celebrating a de facto (and ultimately worthless) co-title and even leaving the conference, there's no shortage of schadenfreude fodder for us here on this hilariously pitiful site.
Your arrogance is repeatedly and resoundingly put in check during that last weekend in November, and it made our season-long uneasiness completely worthwhile this year. Thank you.
And yes, random apparel companies trying to make a quick buck by pushing t shirts is a bad look...but not nearly as bad as your very own goofy-ass Jack Harbaugh wanting to hang a participation banner up after that shit show of a performance you wolverinies put on last Saturday.
I guess that troll prevention tactic kinda backfired, huh?
Go Buckeyes, and cheers to all of you losers.
November 27th, 2018 at 5:20 PM ^
Have fun getting blown out in the CFP... again
November 27th, 2018 at 5:21 PM ^
Have fun not watching your team play in it...again
November 27th, 2018 at 5:46 PM ^
Another dipshit bucktroll. Isn't there a pizza you need to deliver? 20 minutes or it comes out of your paycheck, bitch.
November 27th, 2018 at 5:21 PM ^
Lol nice rant. OSU is spectacular. Great institution. Best football team ever!!!!!
They must enjoy having more national titles than Michigan! Having a winning record in the rivalry against Michigan! Having the most wins in college football! Having the highest winning percentage in college football! Having a winning record against every other Big Ten team! Filling the largest stadium every football Saturday! Being the only team in the Big Ten to have a winning record against the SEC....
great accomplishments OSU! Well deserved, those are all fantastic!
And just think...if the series is 58-50-6 in Michigans favor and OSU has won the last 14-16, how much fucking garbage are they really? Besides this run it was 56-36-6?!?!? So when it shifts...like it does in periods in time (there most beloved coach couldn’t even win the 10 year war) look out.
November 27th, 2018 at 5:22 PM ^
And yet, you'll be watching the CFP on TV just like us.
And Purdue.
*snort*
November 27th, 2018 at 5:29 PM ^
Hey Zach.. Quit drinking and go to bed.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:02 PM ^
Ok cool
Hook 'em
November 27th, 2018 at 7:34 PM ^
You idiots literally made t-shirts as I showed in the OP. I know you can't read.
November 27th, 2018 at 5:28 PM ^
I really hate all this morale victory stuff. We got smoked by our biggest rival in the biggest game of the year. We looked unprepared for that stage and no one really has any answers why it was so bad. If we won the division we'd be playing in Indy this weekend. Last thing we need is all the lawyer garbage that says "well technically we're co-champions."
November 27th, 2018 at 5:33 PM ^
It was bad because OSU got a blocked punt for a TD and then got an interception and a TD next possession. Went from 27-19 (Gentry dropped td as well) to 41-19 in less than 3 minutes and going into the 4th qtr.
End of 1st qtr - 7-6 (dropped td, settled for fg or its 10-7 end of 1st qtr)
halftime - 24-19 (dropped td from 1st qtr and failed 2 pt...should have been 24-24)
end of 3rd qtr - 41-19 <————-
final 62-39.
OSU had more speed and did a great offensive game plan. Michigan has been burned by slant, quick pass, crossing routes by nw and Indiana...OSU took advantage.
November 27th, 2018 at 5:29 PM ^
This is embarrassing honestly. This is why OSU fans laugh at us .
November 27th, 2018 at 5:31 PM ^
Exactly. Completely embarrassing.
November 27th, 2018 at 5:36 PM ^
OSU fans laugh at us, but it is the players who get rewarded for the wins/or have to live with the losses. Who the fuck cares if OSU fans laugh at the Michigan fans? Are we playing? If Michigan players do not want the trophy then they don’t have to take it. Or maybe they can take it and put participation on it and use it as motivation. Who the fuck cares? Is it hurting you? Does it effect your life in any way other than words from fans if Michigan takes a trophy or not?
People need to relax. Michigan has had some good runs and now OSU is having one. MSU had a good run too and did back in the 60s as well. Teams do it. Relax.
