(TO ALL: Apologies for injection of the “F5” colloquialism...which I don’t even use myself. But I see it bantered about on this here board, so I was trying to fit in and get girls. Since every device I own is an apple, I’m more of CMD+R fella myself. Carry on.)
Thanks for the sweet nectar, UMBig11!

I'm still not seeing voting capability on any apple device (regardless of browser). This goes for both iOS and regular desktop OS (Sierra, or whatever we're up to now). I refuse to believe a thumbs-up or -down exists until someone screencaps it for me.
|06/13/2018 - 2:24pm||Being considered correct is…||
Being considered correct is not the same as being correct. The tragedy that enough people have misused a phrase long enough to force grammarians to throw in the towel doesn’t make something right. Otherwise, you shall be on the business end of my “supposably irregardless” pipe moving forward. OC (original commenter) was right. Something is “coming down the pike” is the correct etymology, and thus, the correct usage.

Rutgers doesn’t belong in the B1G, so there are only 13 conference rooms. Until a team lost to Rutgers, then they no longer belonged, so there are only 12 conference rooms. Then Illinois is Illinois in all sports now, so they only need 11 conference rooms. State went 3-9, so they killed their conference room that year....down to 10. And so it goes....

|06/05/2018 - 8:07pm||This is a subject near and…||
This is a subject near and dear to my heart, so I’m fighting through site issues to (hopefully) leave a comforting comment. Your other pet will get over it sooner than the people will, as they don’t have the mental acuity to live in the past. I resisted every urge to do this myself, but the best thing to do in order to move forward (both humans and canines) is to bring another bundle of doggy joy into the home. It took us less than 30 days last time, and while we felt “guilty” for trying to “replace” our departed loved one, the healing came quicker. And now I can’t imagine a life without our newbie.
Good luck to you, and Go Blue! Long live 3.0 hawtness!

|05/03/2018 - 3:17pm||Analysis vs. Color Commentary||
His analysis is...fine, i guess. But as a color commentator, he’s horrible. Disease notwithstanding, he doesn’t know when to talk and when not to. And the job is both: analysis, AND adding life and color to the broadcast. Even excusing the monotony that he can’t control, all of this wouldn’t be so noticeable if it weren’t for the fact that they already have an ace in the bullpen. Rod Allen brings both entertainment and analysis to the broadcast in a way that neither Gibby nor Morris can. Why are we fixing what clearly ain’t broken?
I feel bad for Rod...he’s by far the best of the bunch, and got demoted because some Illitch decided an homage to the glory days would boost ratings. How’s that working out?

|03/20/2018 - 11:17am||Valenti Tears||
So, when we assert that we’re not obsessed with State’s dumpster fire of a program, we’re liars (according to Valenti)...and/or bad fans.
But when we don’t call in to opine on their tournament shit show (out of a mixture of ennui and simple, contented schadenfreude), it proves we’re not fans.
I don’t think you can have it both ways, Mike.

UVA, UM, Purdue, Duke
I think Purdue is being overlooked. If you had to build a championship team from scratch, it might look an awful lot like Purdue. Great post play, amazing shooters, wing threats, and well-coached. We made them look human in the finals. They are not.

And he made that game plan known going into the game, professing proudly that we were going to try to outgun them. So we all knew it was going to be in the face, and we just had to stand there and take it. Then...the Fab Five...

The replay even showed that the ref who called it hadn’t even finished extending his arm for the fifth count before he raised said arm to make the call. Utter B.S.
|02/04/2018 - 9:24am||Nice post, but...||
...minor quibble. I don’t think our lack of scoring was solely do to the randomness of good shots not falling en masse. Outside of the two Purdue games and the State game, our offense has been grinding for a while now. The player movement and ball movement is not what it should be. I think we got into some bad habits of standing and holding the ball during our horrific scheduling gauntlet that resulted in tired legs. There seems to be at least a second or two of holding the ball and surveying a stagnant court every time each player touches the ball. Get those players and that ball moving again, and we should see good shots opening up again. (Also, we need to take the shots that come. It seems everyone is deferring now, and we end up with late-shot-clock possessions way more than is optimal.)

|01/27/2018 - 1:36pm||This||
This is what I was thinking. Removing positional coaches (who recruit) this close to signing day would seem to be forfeiture of those remaining targets. It may not be loyal, but I think it might be smart to wait ‘til after NSD before canning anyone else.

I didn’t feel like it was confident or definitive at all. It was resolute and defiant. But he did not deny any wrongdoing whatsoever. Only that all incidents were reported to the authorities and not handled internally. I would expect far more resolve and forthrightedness if they were completely clean. This came across to me like false bravado...akin to Simon’s hot takes.

|01/10/2018 - 1:31pm||Not Rip Hamilton||
I think the comparison Brian was looking for was more Reggie Miller than Rip Hamilton. Hamilton couldn’t hit the three on the curl, as he noted. But Reggie Miller practically invented it.
Or, John Starks?!?!
|01/10/2018 - 10:32am||End Replay +1||
Call me an old-timer, but I’m all for ending replay...even in college football. To be clear, I think a coach should be able to challenge a game-changing play once or twice a game, as in the NFL. But I HATE that college football games have to keep being stopped to see if every damn call was correct. Just play the sport!
And that goes for replay in college basketball. Let the refs make or blow the calls. Limit it, perhaps, to seeing if a shot at the end of a game got off in time. But, please...limit its use and only when necessary.
Limit replay as much as you can. It kills the sport of it all.

|12/13/2017 - 10:39am||Rogue is #1||
I used to share this sentiment. But after giving it more thought, I put Rogue One ABOVE Empire. Once you eliminate nostalgia from the equation, there really is no contest.
And while Force Awakens pretty much followed the franchise formula (blow up a big space station? Who knew!), it was very well done and highly enjoyable.
Anyway, I POSed ya.
