Don Brown says "yes please". Brown eats running qb's for breakfast.

Meyer will not be there next year, let's be honest.

November 16th, 2018 at 1:06 PM ^
I don't give a fuck about Dwayne Haskins.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:09 PM ^
Good for you, maybe other people do though?
November 16th, 2018 at 1:11 PM ^
Easy, warm cockles.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:07 PM ^
Haskins changed his mind?
Mo money, y'all !!!
His agent likely convinced Haskins OSU couldn't up their pay scale enough to match the signing bonus he and the NFL would offer.
November 16th, 2018 at 3:05 PM ^
Changed his mind or this guy is making guesses that change every time he talks to anybody?
November 16th, 2018 at 1:08 PM ^
Does Matt Miller actually have sources? Lol
November 16th, 2018 at 1:10 PM ^
multiple apparently.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:21 PM ^
I agree, the explanation of his sources sounded weird. Kinda just sounded like he was using his draft knowledge and didn't actually have any inside info on the situation
November 16th, 2018 at 2:24 PM ^
"Multiple sources" in a click-driven world can sometimes mean "all of the voices in my head."
November 16th, 2018 at 1:10 PM ^
Once again, BR author who changes his story one day after publishing doesn't seem credible to me. I don't buy what he says about Haskins or Patterson entering the draft.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:11 PM ^
Source could be better but it makes sense with how weak of a QB class it is.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:13 PM ^
This
Very slim pickings in the draft this year at QB
November 16th, 2018 at 1:24 PM ^
Why aren’t people saying it all weak ? I really don’t get it. Patterson has 5-10 guys ahead Of him right now.
November 16th, 2018 at 2:09 PM ^
Because it's weak. After Herbert and Will Grier the selection of QBs available right now is baaaaad.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:28 PM ^
Source could be better? Yeah literally anything's better than an unnamed source.
He's saying sources think Patterson will go because this QB class is weak. Are these sources people who have talked to Patterson? Talked to his camp? Or just speculating on what they think he should do? My money's on the latter.
The draft class is weak. It was also weak a few weeks ago when Brian posted he got an e-mail from a trusted source saying Patterson will be back next year. I trust Brian over Matt Miller, who had to retract a story one day later because his "sources" told hom how wrong he was the previous day.
November 16th, 2018 at 2:29 PM ^
I think a few QBs have decided to stay in school for a 4th/5th season since then. It makes a difference.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:12 PM ^
I’m just curious if he really does have credible sources.
There is a 50/50 chance he is right. He has now hedged his opinion... i know decisions do change and information differs at different times, but I’m not sure why he’s making such statements in the first place. It’s not like it will make his mock drafts more accurate anyways.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:18 PM ^
Less than a 50/50 percent chance of being right since he is predicting two independent scenarios.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:49 PM ^
I don’t care that he’s at BR, but who knows what kind of sourcing he’s using. I doubt this guy is so plugged in that he has sources that have real access to BOTH Haskins and Patterson.
We’re talking about insight that hasn’t gone around at our level here. Why would that stuff get to this guy?
Shea and Haskins might go pro, but this article isn’t the key indicator.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:57 PM ^
Agreed. Not sure this guy knows shit. It’s pure speculation. Not a big deal either way, just hate flip floppers
November 16th, 2018 at 1:17 PM ^
You buried the lede, bro.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:19 PM ^
That would have gotten the messenger shot.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:18 PM ^
He didn't want to "do skool"
November 16th, 2018 at 1:21 PM ^
he'll change his mind when the pro-laden defense comes to town on the 24th. After Bush, Gary, Chase and company finish with him, he'll beg to stay safely in the college ranks for another year...
November 16th, 2018 at 1:22 PM ^
It would be smart for Haskins to go after setting OSU records. His stock will not be higher unless he outperforms himself next season. OSU probably is not going to the playoff and his coach may be gone after the season.
November 16th, 2018 at 2:23 PM ^
I'm not sure why Haskins would stay from a purely NFL readiness perspective. Even assuming Meyer comes back, its clear that Haskins doesn't fit Meyer's prototypical offense and its not like he's getting stellar coaching or pro-style experience while there (read every scouts report about OSU QBs and WRs). I'm not sure what another year at OSU does for him as it relates to increasing his draft grade.
At least with Shea, he went from a simple one-read offense to a pro-style, complex offense so you can see that he might benefit from another year learning and getting comfortable in a complex offense.
November 16th, 2018 at 4:47 PM ^
Meyer probably told him to GTFO. He can't deal with PS QB's
November 16th, 2018 at 6:22 PM ^
It will be especially wise for Haskins to go if OSU doesn't finish the season well. Meyer will probably want to revert back to his usual offense and give Martell every chance to take his job.
Shea, on the other hand, may go if Michigan finishes the season strong. That's his opportunity to make a big impression.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:28 PM ^
It’s not like he went there to play school.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:35 PM ^
I think it is a wise move on Haskin's part to declare.
He does not fit the typical mold for aOSU quarterback. Imagine if he stays another season and they decide to pull him and let Tate Martell play and they have success with that move. Tate is much more mobile and would give them the run/pass option that is missing with Dwayne.
What's Haskin's draft stock going to be as a 2nd string quarterback?
November 16th, 2018 at 1:40 PM ^
Whoof. That'll sting. If Haskins leaves, it'll be Tate Martell, Matthew Baldwin, and Dawn Mathis. Martell is extremely talented and fits the Urban Meyer role very well, but he's also listed at 5'11. Baldwin is a guy they flipped late from Colorado State and has been dealing with a knee injury all year, and Mathis will be a true freshman. That's a very thin and unexperienced Quarterback room. Combine that with them losing 3 WR, 3 Starting OL, and probably Michael Jordan, KJ Hill, and Mike Weber to the draft, and they could be in a very tough spot next year. Thoughts and prayers to them....
November 16th, 2018 at 1:47 PM ^
And it’s their defense that is the weak spot...
RIP in peace.
November 16th, 2018 at 2:22 PM ^
They have a ton of talent, and I think a new coordinator and better LB Coach, they could turn it around quick. But I'm excited to see what the tire fire turns into.
November 16th, 2018 at 2:25 PM ^
More importantly, how does Tate fit into the system of whoever is going to take over for Urban, after Harbaugh makes him faint on the sidelines?
November 16th, 2018 at 2:27 PM ^
Thin quarterback room or not I'm pretty sure Dawn Mathis is making some kind of history there.
November 16th, 2018 at 4:44 PM ^
Maybe. He's so raw though. He's fast and athletic, but he's very thin, and he has a bit of an unnatural throwing motion. Cannon for an arm, tons of potential. But he's gonna need a lot of seasoning. I like him, but there's a lot to be developed there. He actually reminds me a ton of N'Kosi Perry, the Miami Quarterback coming out of high school. Speed, athleticism, awkward throwing motions/angles, but potential through the ass. And I see a bit of Zach Gentry in him, but he was a bit heavier and less mobile coming out of high school.
EDIT: Just realized I misspelled Dwan*, so if you were inferring he'll make history by being a girl named Dawn, then it completely sailed over my head and I definitely didn't watch more film on him.
November 16th, 2018 at 2:13 PM ^
wrt to patterson, wasn't this the case all along?
I think he wanted to be one and done if he could... early in the season, that didn't look like it was probable... but of late, the "Rudockening" is taking effect.
If Michigan makes it in the the CFP, i think Patterson is gone...
i'd prefer him to stay, but DMC gives me confidence that the teams will be fine without him
November 16th, 2018 at 2:24 PM ^
Haskins would be crazy not to go this year. His stats are great and it's not like shithead Urban is going to do anything to coach him up next year (if Urban is even HC at OSU next year). If he stays too long, Urban will get his stink on him, and Haskins will probably need to become at TE or WR to make the NFL.
November 16th, 2018 at 2:39 PM ^
I believe Brian said he heard from someone who should know that Shea will put his name in but unless he thinks he is going in the 1st or maybe 2nd round, will return to UM.
Who knows about Haskins. OSU looks like it might be on the brink of disarray with the whole Urban situation so maybe the NFL turf is looking greener.
November 16th, 2018 at 2:47 PM ^
Man, with the wide receivers we have returning next year you’d think Shea could really improve his draft ranking
November 16th, 2018 at 3:03 PM ^
For both Haskins or Patterson, their draft prospects depend so much on these last few games, that even if THEY know what their plan is, its just as likely it'll change.
November 16th, 2018 at 3:10 PM ^
After reading the source it did bring up something I hadn't thought about - with Tua and Fromm both likely going to the draft next year, any QBs wanting the limelight are going to have to absolutely shine. So if Haskins does want a shot at the pros - this is the year even with their season being bumpier than expected.
This may be, unfortunately, Shea's best window. On the upside, DMc is the real deal so provided his collarbone heals up properly and not like Wilton's where it impacted his mechanics, we'll be fine.
November 16th, 2018 at 3:20 PM ^
There are a lot of signs pointing to team dysfunction and possibly Urban’s exit after this year - Haskins early entry, headaches, slow recruiting, reporters taking shots, etc. The whole situation seems askew in Cbus.
November 16th, 2018 at 3:37 PM ^
Agree, locker room there may not be comfortable any more.
November 16th, 2018 at 3:28 PM ^
Let’s assume both Haskins and Shea both leave. If you were Harbaugh, would you trade McCaffery for Martell? I wouldn’t. If they both come back I would take Shea over Haskins (so would both Harbaugh and Meyer). Looks like Michigan wins either way.
November 16th, 2018 at 3:58 PM ^
How do you not lead with the Patterson bit?
November 16th, 2018 at 4:09 PM ^
Take this ass whooping with you!
November 16th, 2018 at 6:45 PM ^
wonder if this will change after next Saturday...
