Sort of OT: Michigan-related baby names
Mgobrethren, I need your help. My wife has carried three children, and naming each of them was more difficult than the last. She is now carrying children numbers 4 & 5. They are a boy and a girl, and are due in January. We are really struggling to come up with names, which is stressful but also a great opportunity. I would really like some input on Michigan related names. Here's the catch: it has to be subtle. Woodson is too obvious. I suggested Fielding and she was "meh" on that idea.
Please help. The class of 2037 is counting on you.

That would be really awkward when we go to the reproductive endocrinologist and they ask about any trauma to the groin region.

Elizabeth Armstrong (UM grad and Olympic goldmedalist) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Armstrong
James Anthony Abbott (UM Grad and 1-handed MLB pitcher who has a NH on his record) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Abbott
Can really interchange them a lot too (Elizabeth Abbott, Jame Armstrong, etc) Subtle and carries great pedigree. As they are fraternal twins together their names would be synergistic as well. Best I could come up with.

Tom and Drew after Tom Brady and Drew Henson. Drew can be female like the actress Drew Barrymore.
p.s. let us know what names you went with when they are born. and congrats to you both and your family.

I fought for Fielding and lost, but Franklin at least connects to the great Dennis Franklin, so I will take it.
Also, you have to go Chalmers and then call the child Bump.

I actually know a guy who got Fielding past the committee.

I have a buddy who went to MSU who named his daughter, who must be 5 or 6 now, Shea because he's a big Mets fan. Haven't talked to him in a while but imagine he's not very pleased with how this season's played out.

MSU's or the Mets'?

We named our first daughter Maisie. It actually had nothing to do with my fandom. After she was born I joked we should have given her the middle name Blue. My wife who is not a sports fan in the least, said we should spelled it with a Z and if my daughter wants we will pay to change her name to Maizy Blue when she is older if she wants. She's a keeper. And congrats on 4 & 5.

Named my first Mira.
MI, Ra!
Bonus: Lots of people I've met have told me it means something nice in their language (and asked if I'm from there too). It means "Watch" in Catalan, "Look" in Spanish, "Wonderful" in Latin, "World" in Belarusian, "Me" in Persian, "Sea" in Sanskrit, and of course "Light" in Hebrew, which is what my wife still thinks it actually means.
Little does she know every time she yells at our daughter she's literally cheering for Michigan.

Hayley can probably be spelled “Hailie.”
Victor is a natural male name, but would be more interesting with an -s (“Victors”). Sort of like those Nordic names (e.g. “Mats” or “Anders”).

Shea is a boy and girl name. I have identical twin toddler girls. They will be 2 on 1 March 2019. It gets easier when they’re past 6 or so months. You know that from your other kids, but twins is an entirely different ball game. Buena suerte.

Named my son Maizen. Not from Michigan so it’s not so direct...most people have no idea what it means or where it’s from.

We do know that Maizen is an MGoPoster on this board. He is a troll.
