I hope not. He has so much potential! Hopefully for him and the team, we get to see him dominate before his time is up!

07/23/2016 - 11:37am Dylan

Surprised how few Dylan comments so far. As great as his earlier work is, Time out of Mind, Love & Theft, and Modern Times may stand up as his best work. Now, If he would just quit releasing Christmas albums and covering Frank Sinatra and record another classic or two while he still can, the world would be grateful!

07/23/2016 - 11:28am Keef, Charlie, et al

Those 3 albums have to be the top of this list. Add Beggars Banquet for the run of four and it really is a staggering collection of great songs that define rock n' roll.

The Replacements run of Hootenany, Let it Be, and Tim would also be near the top of my list.

06/25/2016 - 3:58pm Tim Carroll

Don't miss the legendary Tim Carroll. He's a great song writer and guitarist who always puts on a great show. He plays the 5 Spot in E. Nashville every Friday, I believe from 6-9PM.

He started in a punk band in Indiana, then moved to NYC where he led the amazing Blue Cheiftains in pioneering what many would call alt-country. He then moved to Nashville to pursue and was signed to a major deal by Sire before they collapsed and couldn't release his big label debut. He works tirelessly and deserves every fan he gets. Highly respected in Nashville.

Here's an early country classic of his that's been covered by John Prine, among others.

06/11/2016 - 10:46pm Gordie Howe's last goal

At age 52,with an assist from his son, he blasted a backhander past the goalie from well past the face-off circle. Wow!

Check out the highlight on the link below.

11/09/2015 - 10:46am Poor Damn Billy Sims

That Metrodome turf cost Billy Sims his career. He was unbelievable. Shame he didn't get a longer career.

02/10/2014 - 8:21pm Two-Four?

How many beers in a Two-Four?

.....None for you, eh!

08/29/2013 - 11:28pm He attends Cretin Derham

He attends Cretin Derham Hall, a well known Catholic school here in Minnesota. They have produced some impressive athletes including Paul Molitor, Joe Mauer, Chris Weinke, Seantrell Henderson, Steve Walsh, and Michael Floyd.

09/25/2012 - 10:42pm A terrible decision

This will make it all the more enjoyable to beat them in a bowl game soon!

07/23/2012 - 1:55pm Benton Harbor?

I grew up spending my summers near Traverse City.  There are some amazing places, the Sleeping Bear Dunes, Petoskey, Charlevoix, et al....But I recently took a trip from Minneapolis to New Hampshire.  Our family stopped in Benton Harbor and we were really impressed with the beaches there.  The sand was very fine and the water was warm!    The entire Lake Michigan coast is fantastic!

05/02/2012 - 12:53pm Yes!

Far too few Napolean D. references on the blog!

03/02/2012 - 7:07pm Home Brew!

Brewed some beers at the Vineland Brewery in St. Paul, MN.

Just opened a hoppy ale..."100% Evil"!

Delicious!

03/02/2012 - 7:05pm 2 year starting QB in HS

Ran the wishbone at Plymouth Salem HS under legendary coach Moshimer in the late 80's.  Moshimer ran coaching clinics on how to run the wishbone, including for Bo!

I was too slow to ever play for Meechigan, but was recruited by schools like Kalamazoo.

Great memories and learned a lot about life through my experiences.

12/23/2011 - 9:50am Well...

It is Festivus, fergodsakes!

12/23/2011 - 9:43am Sick (and tired)

of half of the threads being filled with complaints about the post!   (eg, "that was posted yesterday")  Not sure why so many people feel the need to correct everything, especially after it was already pointed out.   What's so hard about ignoring it and moving on to the next wonderful Mgoblog thread!?

11/26/2011 - 10:15am Those who stayed are champions!

No pressure today.   This team has been through so much and today will be a glorious celebration of all their hard work!

Can't think of a group of Michigan players that I am more proud of!

Go Blue!

Beat Ohio!

11/25/2011 - 12:47pm We need him to succeed

...up to The Game.   I hope he is as successful as Cooper!   I want to stroll in to their dumpy stadium and beat an undefeated team.   Sweet Buckeye tears!

11/25/2011 - 12:40pm Hmmmm...

Something tells me there are no discussions like this on an Ohio blog.    I posted a "Worst State Ever" image on my Facebook wall and the responses involved explaining why with references to Warren G. Harding,  Rutherford B. Hayes ending Reconstruction, the second "W" term and Amish on Amish violence!

Beat Ohio!

11/25/2011 - 10:22am That is Awesome!

...the grafitti, not the wall of course!

It's a fascinating history.  I grew up in Plymouth up through graduating HS.  I didn't know about this wall's existence or history until much later in life despite it being, well, right under my nose.  I'm curious as to how well known it is in the Detroit metro area today?  I left in '88 (went to university in NY and then lived in Ecuador for 5 years before settling in Minneapolis.   Minneapolis has it's own segregation history...the Mississippi river served as the 8-mile wall here.

11/25/2011 - 9:00am Regardless...

BEAT OHIO!

11/25/2011 - 8:59am "right under the noses of the entire world..."

It wasn't hard to do when the U.S. was openly anti-semetic.  Parks often had signs up that read "No jews or dogs allowed in the park" and housing deeds all over the country were filled with racial exclusion clauses which typicall stated that no "negroes or jews" can enter the house unless employed a servant.  These exclusion laws were not outlawed until the 1960s.    Look up Detroit's "Berlin Wall."....aka 8 Mile which was the racial red-line that segregated the city.

11/21/2011 - 8:22pm Hey, what's the big

Hey, what's the big idea....arrogance is OUR game!    /s

11/21/2011 - 8:18pm See you in the Rose Bowl!

Can't wait for a Michigan v. Arizona Rose Bowl!

11/20/2011 - 10:59am "This Michigan team is close to being among the best I have ever

...seen"

Great post, but I can't agree with that.   I would say that this is one of the most enjoyable, deserving groups I have ever cheered for.   Their legacy will not be that they were one of the best teams, but arguably one of the most important teams in that they prevented Michigan from becoming Notre Dame for 20 years of mediocrity.  Bo would have loved these guys for perservering; never quiting, and being true "Michigan Men".   That being said, there have been some unbelievably great teams the past 40 years, and I don't think this squad could compete with at least a dozen of them.

Beat Ohio and win a big bowl game and they may end up being my all time favorite Michigan team!

11/20/2011 - 10:56am Bo

I'm thankful for growing up watching him and learning life lessons through how he led this program.   Even 5 years after his death, he continues to influence people and define our program.

11/19/2011 - 3:45pm Predictions!?

I feel a beating coming on!

Meechigan: 41

Ohio: 3

10/15/2011 - 5:45pm Well done!

You beat me too it!

10/15/2011 - 5:44pm I'm officially worried...

They have ZERO yards passing and they are in the 4th quarter and WINNING!   There O and D lines look impressive.    We need to keep improving in the trenches and get Denard going if we are going to win the rivalry game.

Keep working!

Go Blue!

09/25/2011 - 6:10pm Best Wishes

I'm a die hard Michigan fan (from Plymouth, MI), but I have lived in Minneapolis since '99.  I thought the Gophers finally hired an excellent coach.  I wish him and his family all the best and hope he can bring the Gophers back to relevance so Michigan can really enjoy winning the Brown Jug!

09/18/2011 - 1:20pm This is Michigan...

We expect to be ranked.

It will be tremendous when we are a legit top ten team at the end of the year, win the B1G, and a real Bowl Game.

Until we prove that, this is not news.

09/11/2011 - 12:10am Very Classy!

Although it may not have been the best played game I have ever seen, both teams showed TREMENDOUS character.   We will all remember this one!

Best of luck Irish.

09/11/2011 - 12:09am Very Classy!

09/05/2011 - 10:19am Dilithium...

I'll take team dilithium over individual dilithium anyday!

09/05/2011 - 10:18am I got some flack for this yesterday....

for pointing out that it seemed silly for the national media to vote for Herron on stats alone....it's a team game after all, so all these individual awards are silly...but as I suggested, the film might show that Herron didn't have such an amazing day.   If you're going to give an individual award, I'd give it to Kovacs.

Now, I'll wait for Brian's UFR as the gospel noble truth on this matter  /s.

...and perhaps an apology from the user who bashed me.

09/04/2011 - 3:59pm Really?

That's not my point.  All I was pointing out was that the national media is, well, silly.   They have no clue as to how well Herron, or most other players, performed.  This is based off of stats, which can be misleading.   I would argue Jake Ryan and Jordan Kovacs were much more important on "Herron's big plays".   Only game film can show this.  Since Brian does watch film, I would rely on him MORE THAN a national media vote.  And, of course, he is not "judge, jury, and executioner for all things Michigan"....dude.

So, lets get back to cheering for Michigan and destroy ND!

09/04/2011 - 1:08pm Congratulations!

While it's great for a 5th year, under the radar senior to get recognition for his big day, I assume that this is just national writers reading the stat line and voting for him.  I look forward to the UFR to see how well he played.

08/27/2011 - 9:39am Still?

Vincent Smith from our own 1 yard line?   I love the guy, but not not in that situation or 3rd and 1.

08/15/2011 - 4:14pm Remember this question....

when you watch him injure himself trying to catch a routine flyball.   He has a great arm, but is one of the worst fielders I've ever seen.  It's been painful to watch here in Minneapolis.  He has a ton of potential, but I don't see much motivation for him to be more than a .250 avg guy.

08/14/2011 - 3:44pm Fair question...

Answer:  My 1 year old and 4 year old daughter!

I just was hoping for someone to take up this topic in greater depth than I could at this point in my life and I figured it would be a good topic that would interst others as well.

08/14/2011 - 3:42pm Funny

....but if you're going to reference a movie with a clown reference, you should always go with the Citizen Kane of clown movies, Shakes the Clown!

08/14/2011 - 3:40pm Thanks!

Thanks!

08/12/2011 - 11:29am Leroy Hoard

I met Leroy Hoard in a service elevator in the Minneapolis Hilton the night before a Vikings playoff game.  I asked him about playing for Bo....He had thighs a thick as my waste.   My best friend's older brother was a walk on fullback and played with Leroy.  He seemed to get a kick out of talking Meeechigan in Minneapolis the night before a Viking game.

07/23/2011 - 2:15pm Thanks!

Just brutal.   It sounds like a 14 year old, like, you know?

Here's a typical example of Tressel failing to articulate anything.  Has he always spoken like this?

"And so we’ll call and say, “Hey, what’s the updated vehicle

registration form,” because it’s – you know, that’s one of the

things we chase. And, you know, so Doug and his office are

forever on the phone, you know, trying to – you know, so anytime,

you know, something from that standpoint comes up, you know,

we, you know, we try to help the cause."

07/23/2011 - 11:27am Great points Bodogblog

It will be a different rivalry.   Good v. Evil!

I enjoyed watching the discussion that was posted yesterday of Bo and Woody talking about the game/rivalry.  One part that stood out was how they both talked about how each side did it the right way and how everything was above the table.   The way it should be.

07/23/2011 - 11:23am You Know...

Wow.  100 pages of Tressel rambling BS and 39 pages of him stuttering "you know?".  That was extremely tough to read.

It now appears that additional punishment(s) will be limited.  At least we will beat a good Ohio team and not a 4-8 squad decimated by, albeit well deserved, NCAA sanctions.
